That sounds great, can't wait to listen to the full album, the excitement is killing me, still have to wait 6 more weeks.

I bought the issue. Quite an in depth interview - 5 pages.

Talks about :-

Why he didn't cover much about the recording of Brotherhood and Low Life in his book (basically he felt it wasn't interesting to indulge in stories of hours and hours in the studio)

Stuff he covered in the book i.e childhood, growing up in Salford, Ian Curtis and JD

The problems surrounding tense relationships in the band while recording Republic

A little about Hooky but didn't like to say much and felt he said all he wanted to say on the subject is in the book.

Depression from hangovers on tour being the cause of bad gigs in the 80s

Sailing life

Interesting stuff about the recording of Get Ready and struggling at first with Steve Osborne's demands

He did take a "tiny, tiny, tiny " bit of LSD when writing the lyrics to Temptation and how that song and others felt like they were given to to him and the band as a gift (reminiscent of the Melody Maker interview from December 1988 in how he talked about writing songs felt like the songs came down from some greater power from above)

Oh there's loads in there - i could quite easily scan and post the whole thing but i don't want to get into trouble

Bit worried now that the deluxe tracks will be DJ remixes rather than pure extended versions... Hope that's not the case.

Will be interested to see if the album leaks weeks in advance of release. I recall 'acquiring' Waiting For The Sirens Call about 5 weeks ahead of its release. Get the feeling Mute may have tighter reigns though.Miss the old days not hearing a new NO album til official release day though- there was something magic about that which has been lost forever unless you are really really disciplined.Seems like an eternity since Music Complete was announced but still an eternity til 25th September

I don't know if it's worth starting a thread for this, but Q Magazine appears to have a 21 page special on NO. Out 25 August. I guess there will be a few of these articles coming out to coincide with Music Complete.

Nice four star review in the new Q magazine.

'Their best record in a quarter of a century'.

It sounds like most of the tracks, except Restless and Academic, are dance orientated.

Jeepers. I'll take an album that's better than Get Ready and Republic any day (two of the better efforts to me)

looks like they still have the boxed set available.

still, a hassle to order it again.

Yup, for every new NO album there are 4,726 retrospectives and 8,251,395 compilations. I counted.

I hope I'm wrong on this but thought it might be worth mentioning. I've noticed that magazines like Q that do big features on bands (the now defunct REM springs to mind) tend to give kinder reviews than they otherwise would. I.e, a big interview with Michael Stipe = an extra star in the review. Even on their crapper later albums.
Sounds like NO cooperated with Q on their 21 page special, so I can't help thinking it might have otherwise only been a three star review. But let me emphasise I do hope Im wrong!

Looked for the Q issue yesterday after seeing some had obtained a copy.No luck.Guess it's the old London thing of getting new issues of magazines ahead of the rest of the country.I'll try again later this week.

As re the reviewing thing i remember when WFTSC came out in 2005 NME found themselves in the quite difficult position of whether to give the album a good review or not when they'd awarded New Order the Godlike Genius Award just a month or so previously.Think the reviewer tiptoed very diplomatically around the fact the album wasn't very good lol

The radio programme was absolute pish. The dj and her sidekick talked briefly for a couple of minutes about New Order and the new issue of Q then went off on a tangent talking about Madonna and Bjork for some reason then they played Restless. And that was it. No interview with New Order or anything.Don't waste your time looking it up on catch up online.

The official street date is 25 Aug, so suspect you're right about London getting early distribution. When I first moved to London from the north west in 1989, couldn't believe it when I found the NME on sale on Tuesday afternoons having had a life time of seeing it on Wednesday (at the earliest!).

I'd really like not hearing the album til release day but i doubt that will happen. The Guardian and maybe others sometimes put up streams of a whole album a week or two before release - The XX's last album and i think Leftfield's most recent spring to mind.Resisting the urge to click and listen will be nigh on impossible.I didn't hear Get Ready until i got my hands on the CD the day it was released but can't see that ever happening again.

Only been back a day and already I've been slagged by a Pom about cricket and CTB has called me a tart rather than gobbed them.

Is this some sort of parallel universe I've stepped into?

At this rate the album's shaping up to be a peach!

There's hardly anybody left who remembers Huntsman! that's how much things have changed. Unless he's reincarnated himself as Michael Monkhouse.
