ok, thanks to 50pound note, and his friends,
we had an excellent version of what recycle
the box set would have been like.

but what about the rest? the ones
that came after world in motion?

it's time to revisit that idea.

i'm slowly working on the listings,
and will be posting them on a blog
shortly..

basically it will cover these singles:
======================
1 regret
2 ruined in a day
3 world
4 spooky

5 true faith 94
6 1963-94
7 lets go
(salvation tracks)

8 blue monday 95
9 video 586
9b brutal
10 true faith 2001

11 crystal
12 60 mph
13 someone like you
14 here to stay
14b world in motion 2002
15 confusion 2002

16 krafty
17 jetstream
18 waiting for the sirens call
19 guilt is a useless emotion
19b hellbent
========================

we will visit each single separately,
and see what tracks can go on them.

If you start uploading mass amounts of copyrighted material Warner Music may get a little cross with you.

Not to mention the band and/or their management who are known to actively read these forums.

Most of what you're proposing above is still purchasable or widely available second hand so people can still buy it.

If the New Order Archives who offered obscure live shows was hit with a cease and desist, how long do you really think your public "Recycle 2" will last?

i'm not worried in the least bit.

it's a private blog.

i'm just announcing it here.

no harm in discussing their music.

Assuming you're not planning on uploading any tracks (just discuss fantasy track listings) then even still, why?

There are plenty of New Order Discographies around the web encompassing the London Records-era singles; not to mention Discogs.

If you're planning on actually uploading tracks then... er, see above again.

for the first title from the first set of singles,
we look at regret:
==================

regret was the return of new order,
with the album republic.

there were several remixes, spread
across vinyl and cd.

most of the mixes were on the cd-single.

the sabres slow n low edit was on retro.

all of these are sourced of cd.
the japanese republic had the 2 sabres mixes,
also there was a french promo cd, that had those also.

the radio edit is exclusive from:

http://www.discogs.com/N...er-Regret/release/878375

for the first single we have these:
Code:

---------------------------------------------------------
1 regret (or 7 inch version) 4:08 v, cd, cs, ld
optional -regret (radio edit) 3:50 cd

2 regret (the new order mix) 5:10 v, cd, cs
3 regret (fire island mix) 7:15 v, cd, cs
4 regret (junior dub mix) 7:44 v, cd, cs

5 regret (sabres slow 'n' low) 12:49 v, cd
6 regret (sabres fast 'n' throb) 12:11 v, cd
7 regret (sabres slow 'n' low edit) 6:41 cd

-1, the lead R in Regret is bizarrely out of balance IMHO (odd for a serif font, that technique might possibly work in allcap, or sans serif) ---- not very saville --- might want to tweak that --- just some advice from a fellow designer

What's the criterion?
'True Faith 2001' was not an official remix, was it?
'Video 5.8.6' is not a typical release, more like an archive vault product, that normally is never included (or at least not in this chronological order).
There was never 'World in Motion 2002' (rumor of a new remix was circulating at the time, but instead they re-released the 1990 version backed with 'Such a Good Thing').

Another point: why indeed? All that was released in the digital age, on CDs. Sadly, what distinguished the Factory-era output from London was the substance of the material: solid B-sides, smart minimum of remixes. To collect all various remixes after 1993 is entertaining but futile, in my opinion.

i prefer only new order tracks and mixes up to 1987.

everything after this is pretty subpar.
however, there's a huge part of their catalog
that incorporates these tracks..

and for the sake of completeness, its well worth cataloging them.

i intend on doing a recycle+ compilation, and going back
and revisiting all the previous singles, and adding in
some extra tracks, and mixes also.

Ruined in a day was the
second single:

2 separate cd singles came out.

ok, just to clarify some issues.

i've been asked a few questions, so will reply to them here.
===========================================

1) what is the goal of this project?

to create a supplemental listing of new order tracks similar
to the previously released recycled project

2) is this for sale?

definitely not. this is a fan based project, made for personal and
private, non-public use.

3) what is the blog for?

the blog is for a more private sharing of the ideas with more freedom
than the forum or mailing list

4) how do i sign up?

pm or email me. once you do that, you can sign up by yourself
for an account. or alternatively, i can invite you if you provide an email.

5) where are all the tracks?

there aren't any yet. if there are, they will be preview versions.

this project has 3 stages) 1- pre-production 2) production 3) final release

we are currently at stage 1

6) what is the final product?

a listing of the files, and perhaps a playlist, and artwork
for anything further consult the blog for updates.

thanks for your participation, or you just want to lurk and
observe, feel free to do so.

however, those that participate with ideas, tracks, artwork,
will receive the most benefit.

thanks again, and enjoy.

i prefer only new order tracks and mixes up to 1987.
everything after this is pretty subpar.
however, there's a huge part of their catalog
that incorporates these tracks..

and for the sake of completeness, its well worth cataloging them.

i intend on doing a recycle+ compilation, and going back
and revisiting all the previous singles, and adding in
some extra tracks, and mixes also.

Quite a lot of time and effort spent on a band whose last quarter century of work you dismiss.

agreed, but still fun to chronicle.

the last good album from them was in 1983 with 'power corruption and lies',
although 'low-life' was very good, and 'brotherhood' was ok.

i don't really like their albums, but they have a lot of variety in their
mixes.

i listen to a lot of techno, and electronica, so when they have gone
down that road, i tend to listen. some of the mixes of 'waiting for the sirens call',
such as the planet funk one were very listenable,as were blue monday 95 mixes by hardfloor,
and others. there's a handful from here and there that add up to a decent collection.

10 ruined in a day (k-klass remix) 6:14 v, cd, cs

Code:

2 world (uk radio edit) 3:58 cd, cs
10 world (the price of love)(best of)
(or us radio edit) 3:39 v, cd, cs, ld

These are the same thing. UK World timing is incorrect (3:58 is the Perfecto edit). There is another, arguably superior, UK radio edit ("Spike's mix") but it was only used in the video (with added sounds from waves, motorboat, bikes etc). I don't think I've ever heard a "clean" copy of that mix. In an ideal world, that would be on a "Republic" bonus disc if a 2CD release of that ever happens. Or even better, a full length mix. The album version is clearly an edit too.

not really.

did you get anything out of that? was anything released?

did anybody share it?

completely different project, with a similar idea,
thats about it.

this is more like a continuation of the work that 50pound did
with their recycle project.

I don't really see the point, as most of those songs are pretty available (auction, iTunes-type services, etc).....
And it could get you in trouble.
I don't make these kinds of rules, but you know, we have to abide by them.

Endlessly cataloging the various edits and remix variations will bloat the project and will turn many people off. The reason the original Recycle was a success was because there were barely any remixes on the earlier singles and even by the time of Technique there were only two or three. It didn't cover every obscure edit or bootleg mix and was all the better for it; it was succinct. Cataloging 25+ remixes of Crystal or 15+ of Jetstream is just a bit dull and OCD really. A further reason the original Recycle was a success was due to the sound on these various CD and vinyl tracks being enhanced; are there any audio specialists working on your Recycle 2?

The point still stands a lot of the material you will be releasing is still available to buy and giving it away en masse for free to "anyone who sends me a PM" will dent the band's income; we're not talking swapping a few FLACs or the odd album under the radar. At least the original Recycle focused mostly on tracks which were long out of print or languishing on dusty Factory vinyl.
