Ooh, Yeah Yeah Yeahs are back. New song is all very dramatic but has it really got any substance or staying power? Video is a lot of drama about nothing. And various people projecting phlegm. What a bad example to set.Tut.Greatest stretch limousine in a video since that Aphex Twin Windowlicker one

Caught on tv Primal Scream's set at Glastonbury last night.Bobby in a great Screamadelica suit though i was wondering at the start if he had the energy to make it through but he surprised me.And I do like that bass player the band have these days Smile

Highlight of the day though for watching on tv for me was of course Confidence Man on the Park Stage.Love 'em

Oh yeah. Just had a search and nope, can't find it on there. What a bugger. I watched live last night on the stream on iplayer of the Peel Stage. Maybe their set will turn up at a later point, dunno.

Oh my. Could Khruangbin be the perfect festival band? Laura Lee looking as funky as her bass sounds.

Out with the hip-hip medley, in with the 90s House medley.
And a special guest vocalist for a couple of tracks that Khruangbin fans should recognise.

Yep I watched that live on the stream on Friday night, think they finished before the time Primal Scream were on the Peel stage which I then watched, a busy evening. Khruanghbin were great.

Also watched over the weekend St Vincent, Sleaford Mods, Noel Gallagher, Paul McCartney ( I know but the set had its moments), The Avalanches, Caribou, Four Tet, Pet Shop Boys ( great show) and bits of many more. Didn't get time for Bicep last night but will try on catch up later.

I was lucky enough to catch Bicep in a park in London last month, and I must admit they hit harder live than I expected.
I think it was pretty much the same show as Glastonbury.

When they got to the track below which clocks in at 132 BPM, I thought: crumbs this is almost up to Underworld levels of banging techno.
The harder, more acidic live version of Apricots at the end was good too.

Having prevously compared them to other 90s techno/dance acts in this thread, I still think Leftfield hit harder live with their bass onslaught, and Chemical Brothers bring a better audio-visual experience. But it was good alright.

Yes I think I remember you comparing them in this thread and think I agreed then and still agree now - they're not quite at the level of Chemical Brothers or Leftfield. At least for me their material, as for live I can only go on what I've seen on TV. They look a great show but not on the same level as The Chemical Brothers who I have seen.

I think Audley played this during his set on Friday evening at Noisily festival. Bit random but i'm sure it was this , the dub remix of Glenn Morrison & Byron Wong's remix of Miracle Cure by Blank & Jones ft. Bernard Sumner. It certainly sounded like it.

Was a great weekend in the woodsSmile

Reading Bobby Gillespie's autobiography at the moment, near the end and just in to the period when they team up with Andrew Weatherall for Loaded. Is this the first of 2 books from Bobby? Possibly, as it ends i think ( haven't quite got there yet) with Screamadelica. Will there be a part 2? This book is ok, obviously Bobby writing a lot about growing up in Glasgow, the class struggle and his time in Jesus & Mary Chain and so on. Anyway, i think i only learned a year or two back that Bobby was once upon a time a member of The Wake. That came as a surprise to me.Anyway, in the book he writes quite a lot about playing live with The Wake when they supported New Order circa 1982.

I'd long forgotten about Primal Scream's Velocity Girl.I remember first hearing this on i think Peel's Festive 50 1986 and it was just such a 1.22 jangly pop rush back then, loved it.This video made is obviously more recent than 1986, that is NOT 1986 Bobby. But i do like the vid and it was always a fantastic tune.

Finished Bobby G's autobiography and now on to Will Sergeant's memoir Bunnyman. Will's self deprecating humour in this is very, VERY funny.I was chuckling within the first couple of pages.Would deffo recommend if you was ever a fan of Echo
& The Bunnymen in the 80s

I vaguely recall back in 1989 thinking for some reason this was one of the worst songs JAMC had done.Maybe at the time it seemed MOR by their standards. These days i think it's possibly one of their best ever.A real cracker and great for when you're driving and hitting the gas.

Got round to checking out Neu ( sorry, left their annoying exclamation mark off) seeing as Steve often mentions them. Quite like one or two of theirs. This one in particularly. Lovely stuff.

House Of Love. Went to see them the other night at Birmingham Academy 3 (small 250 capacity room at that venue). Finally got to see them for the first time, which is odd really as they were one of my favourite ever bands, certainly in the early 90s.Guy Chadwick is the only remaining original member now as sadly their phenomenal guitarist Terry Bickers left the band (again) in 2020.The last few albums have been awful and the just newly released album didn't impress or inspire me in the slightest either. But the old songs from 1988-1992 are still fantastic.Chadwick was a great songwriter back in the day.Road, Beatles and The Stones, Girl With The Loneliest Eyes, Burn Down The World, Hope, Don't Know Why I Love You, Se Dest, Shine On,Destroy The Heart, Love In A Car and more from that 88-92 era all got an airing at the gig and all still brilliant.

Just saw the Cure earlier in the weekend and I have to say they were great, I know it was unpopular to like them in the heyday of the forum but the concert was pretty fantastic. Two and a half hour set with hits gloomy stuff early stuff less played stuff and everything. They played four new songs this time, this is the best recording from Zagreb of a new song I was able to come find, the new songs seem pretty good too.
