And it wasn't just the 1980's but not sure if their road of excess lead to the palace of wisdom though.

Without being puritanical, it probably lead to Gretton's and Wilson's early deaths, several marriage and family break ups, reckless business decisions (Fac & Hac), unprofessional live performances (ok it was funny at the time). It's the strangest business when you're given as much drink as you want before performing then paid as well.

I'm trying to remember which musician said he'd never seen so many drugs as back stage at New Order (USA tours). Lemmy?

OK, I'll get my slippers now.

John Lydon said on their tour together (USA 1989) that "New Order take more drugs than the Grateful Dead".

I’m guessing his 1980s was far more fun than mine.

He should own that. I know I would.

Scroll right down to bottom and click on Black Friday sale or try this Link

Edit: oh actually I can only see a few items that are 50% off. But the advert does say “Up” to 50% off.So not all then. In fact not much at all is 50% off.

Oh that reminds me, must get some of those PCL Xmas tree decorations. I keep thinking about getting some each year but never get round to it.

I think that was 1989, The Monsters Of Alternative Rock: PIL, New Order, Sugarpubes. My girlfriend's uncle was the sound engineer. Not the shit one.
It always cracks me up how New Order go on about how many drugs they took and how many awesome influences they cite - then they come up with shite like Liar.

I am fucking hilarious. And the people who disagree are always people who'd rather have their eyes gouged out than get up on stage themselves.
1989 was an awesome year for alternative music. Top albums from PIL, New Order, Sugarpubes, Siouxsie, Depeche and the Cure. And in the mainstrean, Macca, whose solo career is more up and down than my mother outside a church, finally hit it with Flowers in the Dirt and his first worldwide tour in a decade. What more do you want, apart from a Spice Girl and a shower attachment?

I hear this bit (around the 2m mark) as:

It stems from this first estrangement

not "sprung"

Agreed. It’s definitely ‘stems’.

There’s one remix (can’t remember which one) where that bit is really clear and it also sounds like ‘disarrangement’ to me.

Just checked. It's the Martin Buttrich remix, here (at around the 1m26s mark):

It certainly sounds like 'disarrangement' to me.
Opinions?

Also, listening to that remix, I'm starting to wonder if the line that I always thought was 'a halo that covers my eyes' is actually 'a halo that colours my eyes'.
Both lyrics would fit; one blocking his view, the other either skewing the image or making his eyes appear different.

Could I have been wrong all these years?

At least I'm not alone if I am; that lyric video says 'cover'. :-D

Just editing this post to state how much I bloody love this track. It still sounds modern, fresh and just damn awesome. One of the band's very best. Would love them to start performing it live again.
