I thought I'd give this a gentle 'bump', just in case anyone has found any radio interviews on tapes. Perhaps during the 'lockdown'.

I've amended my original long list to delete any that I have now acquired. Big thanks to members who have sent me these since I initially posted the list.

In the last few days, thanks to a kind soul on this forum, I managed to replace quite a few of the interviews that I lost (see my original post). I was thrilled with this, and is so nice to have these again.

However, there are still others I'm really keen to replace. Specifically:

17/06/1990 - 'The Bill Shaw Show', NorthSound Radio, Aberdeen, 17/06/90 (Hook)
xx/12/1991 - 'Mark Goodier', BBC Radio 1, 12/91 (Morris & Gilbert)
11/01/1992 - BBC Radio 1, 11/01/92 (Wilson)
20/03/1992 - 'Bite The Wax', Radio Scotland, 20/03/92 (Wilson)
Late 1992 - 'Mark Goodier', BBC Radio 1, Late 1992 (Morris & Gilbert)
30/12/93 - 'BBC Radio 1, 30/12/93 (Hook presenting)
1993-1994 - 'Cook With Hook' segments on 'Hit The North', BBC Radio 5 Live

So, if anyone has a) any of the ones listed directly above, b) any of the others listed in my main list further up the page or c) any other radio / audio interviews not listed, please get in touch.

I have a tonne of stuff that I'm very willing to share in return.

Perspex, do you have the Radio 1 Saturday Live 9th June 1984 thing where Richard Skinner talks to Mark Johnson and Rob Gretton about Mark's 'Ideal For Living' book? The transcript of it is in Dec's Heaven To Heaven book and i realised i don't think i'd ever heard it.And certainly don't have it.Puzzled how i missed it at the time as i often had Radio 1 on in those days and was always trying to keep an ear out for any New Order stuff on the radio.

Judging by the transcript, Rob was pretty harsh and critical of the book to Mark's face ! Speak yer mind, Rob .Or i'm wondering if it looks harsher in transcript than it actually was.

Yeah. I’ve got it (I might be missing the very end though).

It’s not just the transcript. It’s a pretty uncomfortable interview.

I always used to think that the band and Rob were a bit harsh on Johnson (who was just there it do a job).
However, I’ve recently read some fairly unsavoury stuff about Johnson and think perhaps the band were wise to keep him at arm’s length.

Anyway, if you want a copy of the Radio 1 interview, just PM me (same goes for anyone else).

Just compared my copy to the transcript in 'From Heaven To Heaven' and it looks like I'm only missing the last couple of sentences.

My version breaks off at:

Rob: "We're supposedly doing a..."

So, there's only the answer to that question, plus one more comment from both Skinner and Gretton, plus Skinner's outro. So not too bad.

Looks like I have some more interview at the start than is in the transcription. I have about 1m25s of the interview prior to where the transcript picks up.

So, I guess what I'm saying in all this is, if you have a complete copy (or at least one that contains the end bit), please let me know.
Perhaps we can stitch together a more complete version.

Just a gentle bump on this thread.

Thanks to a very generous soul, I've managed to strike off another six programmes that were on the above list.
I've now amended this to reflect my 'current wants'.

If anyone is able to help out, please get in touch.

Similarly, if anyone is after a radio or TV programme featuring the band, please just drop me a PM. I will probably be able to help you out.

I remember circa 1991 there was a radio one show about indie music and they said, We've kept the best till last with an interview with indie's most successful band, New Order. Turned out to be five minutes with just Morris.

Hmmm. Interesting. I'm not sure I know about that one.
I have something logged as:

'Newsbeat', BBC Radio 1, 09/09/91 (Morris) (5 minutes)

It could be that, I guess. Sadly, I don't have it.

Yeah, probably that. You didn't miss much - very short and he actually informed listeners he used to be in JD but was now in NO. Another BBC scoop.
There was also a tiny beeb interview with Hooky in 1994 where he said he stayed with Factory cos he was a pisshead. Sometimes they made monumental mistakes; sometimes they made monuments.

Incidentally, is that the Oasis one where they take the piss out of Hooky so he says they can forget about going down the Hassie and they say, 'I wouldn't wanna go down there anyway. It's shit'? I read about that. Not an Oasis fan, but after that I was tempted.
I always thought Buzz Gum sounded like Oasis.

Yep - 'Hit The North' on BBC Radio 5, 11/08/93.

I think the full broadcast of this is actually 'lost' (or, at least, not in the hands of fans).
I think Oasis fans were looking for it for years, as it contains a very early radio session.

Anyway, it eventually turned up up, but as a partial recording. See this link and description:

"In Lee Henshaw's book "Oasis" (1996) it is said that the BBC has since lost the master tape to this recording.

This recording was transferred from an in-house cassette tape from the bands management, and is not an off-air recording. This means that the DJs (Peter Hook from New Order!) microphone is almost inaudible for the interview, as the . The general sound quality is excellent though.

The session was engineered by Mark Coyle and Ian Eastwood (Stone Roses) at Noel Gallagher's request, as this was their first ever radio session. 'I Will Believe' from this session later got used as a b-side to the 'Supersonic' single, and 'Bring It On Down' was a b-side on the 'Shakermaker' single. The rest is super rare, and has only been sourced from this tape."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Nw61DijiKU

So Hooky is basically inaudible, but you can hear the various Hook/Haçienda jibes from about 9:30 onwards.

Obviously i'd be keen to hear the Hooky bits, so if anyone has it, please let me know.
Someone must've taped it somewhere... Even if it was just for the wonderful Mark & Lard.

Agree on Buzz Gum. They seemed to be putting a foot onto the Oasis bandwagon there. Another one of the weaker tracks from the album for me is Billy Bones, which sounds like they were going for a Joy Division-style moody dirge. Suspicions were confirmed when I saw them live at The Fillmore in San Francisco on that tour. At the end of them playing that song, Pottsy said "Sorry Ian".

Watching Wings 1977. Can't fathom the hatred for this band. They gathered a stream of hits including a record breaker, the gigs were epic and Band on the Run is cuntender for best solo Beatles album. Awesome

Yes. Another cringeworthy part of the gig was the encore of Warsaw's Failures. Otherwise, the concert was really quite good.

Thanks for that Oasis link. Sadly Hooky is barely audible and I thought they actually said, 'I wouldn't wanna go down there anyway. It's shit,' but I just got 'arsed' (don't take that out of context). Still pretty ballsy considering they were unknown, Hooky had a tough guy reputation and this was the height of that 'most important group since the Beatles' rubbish. Respect.

Not a radio clip but i was going through a load of old VHS tapes the other day to see if i had anything previously forgotten.Found a recording of the NME awards 2006 ( i was still recording stuff using VHS and a video recorder in 2006?? WTF? But yep, it seems i was!) and found Hooky presenting some award and being his usual arsey self and saying some stuff about how nobody buys records anymore and then presenting the award to Kaiser Chiefs because the actual award winners Suede couldn't be arsed to turn up.Then some idiot singer from The Cribs jumps onto the table (and sustains himself a serious injury in doing so if i remember correctly ) and Russell Brand asks the up their own arses indie music industry hangers on audience who he should actually give the award to or something blah blah blah who cares.Anyway, if you want the clip i have an old VHS player and the technology to transfer it to digital and by means of 21st tech wizadry to whip it across to yers, perspex! Let me know

You certainly know how to sell a product. Who could resist after that?

Many thanks for the offer, Fotz.

I do have a copy of this, but it's pretty poor and, for reasons unknown to me, is in portrait.
I'm wondering if it's been filmed by someone off a TV screen using their camera.
It might just be me - I'm not very IT savvy when it comes to video file formats. Maybe I could tweak it and make it landscape?

I've uploaded it here:

Maybe you could take a look and, if you think your copy is better quality and if it isn't too much trouble, I'd love a copy.
I'm always looking for upgrades (especially to weirdly formatted things like my version of the clip).

Cheers for the offer either way. Appreciated.

^ My copy maybe a little better than that but not really enough to be worth doing. Wouldn’t make much difference apart from it being in landscape not portrait.

No worries then, Fotz. It's probably not worth the effort.
