Just thought I'd mention that, during the live chat with Hooky and Jack onon the latter's Instagram account last Wednesday (22/04/20), Hooky had this to say:
Q: What’s the latest on the PC&L boxset?’
A “The problems have been smoothed over and I am talking to the record company tomorrow (23/04/20), actually, to finalise the set list and get it going. So, yeah, it’s on the way. I’ve seen the pictures which are very good.
Dave Simpson is doing the foreword and the history, which I’m delighted about. I did that interview the day before yesterday, on the ‘phone to him for an hour and a half. So it’s going to be quite detailed. Dave is very good and he is very fair between us all. Which is what is the important thing.
Yeah, it's well on the way actually. I mean the records will be coming out pretty much, probably, I would’ve thought it’ll be June. They will set the date and it will come out.
It’s like the auction (of Hook’s New Order memorabilia); those things are easy to do. It’s just all the stuff that we do as people, you know, that we won’t be able to do, which is the bad bit."
I personally think June seems a little hopeful (there's usually at least three months lead-in times on things like this, even under non-lockdown circumstances). Hope I'm wrong though. I could do with some cheering up, and a load of bonus audio / video from one of the greatest LPs ever recorded would certainly do that.
Even if it's not quite ready by June, it's still pretty positive stuff.
I will say that the chat with Hooky and Jack was very enjoyable and can recommend everyone to attend the next one (next Tuesday, I think).
I know Jack occasionally visits these boards so, if he's reading this, many thanks to him and his dad. I really look forward to the next one. A fun hour amongst two great bass players.
