The Fall on BBC2.This is really good. Gillian Anderson ( never really been a fan of her but hey) on the hunt for a serial killer in Belfast.

I watched Mike Leigh's Another Year on C4 last night.I'd not seen this one of his before.One of those films where i'm restless and thinking about going and doing something else for the first half hour but by the end am totally engrossed in the characters and what happens to them.That's the genius of Mike Leigh i guess. The wife Gerri of the middle class couple rubbed me the wrong way more and more as the film went on.Lesley Manville as Mary, more and more desperate and rattled by the end. This weekend watched the original Casino Royale. Herb Albert & The Tijuana Brass Band kinda killed it, that and the whole 60's vibe. Entertaining and I do enjoy watching Ursula Andress.
The Hobbit yesterday was my napping movie and I did nap through some of it.
Django Unchained. Did not make it to Leo D's entrance. Felt like I'd rather be outside than watching that. Wifey was annoying flinching at all the gratuitous violence and bullet holes.

Its not always an easy task, for every Bernard Sumner in Life On Mars theres a Bez playing a paedo in Eastenders. james actually said "hairy PUZZLED potato". my mistake.
i saw john simm in pinter's 'betrayal' at sheff crucible last year. absolutely fantastic. hoping i'll get to see him in 'the hothouse' in the big smoke in the next couple of months.
have only just caught up with 'the fall' and am very much enjoying it. however, i do not recommend starting to watch the whole series at 11pm, falling asleep halfway through an episode and then having very bad dreams. (i did laugh/cringe at the "oh, so you are SHOCKED that a woman can use a man as a sex object? *arches eyebrow*" bit. I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR.)
there's a mark e smith/gillian anderson joke to be made here, but i cannot be arsed to think of it.

Is it just me or is The Fall really bloody scary? Definitely unsettling and disturbing. Also, I'd put money on Gillian Anderson making a pass at that female officer who in last night's episode revealed she's gay.There's definitely some chemistry there methinks.Though they'd have to be quick as there's only one episode left. I had a discussion about this at work to day with a colleague, about how creepy it would be to watch it if you were in the house on your own.. My girlfriend watches it but I am usually out walking the dog when it's on.. And I don't even have a dog..

I just caught the end of Johnny Marr performing Big Mouth Strikes Again on Later With Jools, his vocals sounded excellent, I guess the touring has brought that side of him really to the fore, I was also impressed by the drummer, it's not the easiest song to do justice to I would guess but they really got it right.
Definitely worth checking out on Friday night..

Definitely worth checking out on Friday night.. Yeah Johnny Marr was pretty good but the performance i enjoyed the most was Disclosure. Was watching on BBC2HD and had the HD sound through my stereo and listening on my headphones. Great electronic beats and bleeps coming through, sounded ace.A good track that one. Also found myself enjoying Bonnie Raitt's song.

Definitely worth checking out on Friday night.. Marr did 4 songs in total over the Tuesday night live broadcast and tonight's extended, that's one more than usual for any artist on Jools isn't it? Mixed feelings on him falling back on doing two Smiths songs out of the four though ( How Soon Is Now tonight and Bigmouth on Tuesday night which wasn't repeated tonight like the show usually does?) Felt a bit like he should have done more of his new solo stuff than fall back on old Smiths songs. Was nice to see the LOVELY Jessie Ware appear on the show doing the track with Disclosure. Maybe Johnny Marr will in time as he records more of his own music come to rely less on going back to the Smiths catalogue but for now yes he is clearly feeling that he needs to play some of those tunes as well as his new stuff.. He will always face that dilemma I suppose.. I was switching channels between Jools and The Doors doc on BBC4, still so sad to think that Ray Manzarek is no longer with us, he was a great character as well as a being a genius musician. By the way, this looks interesting.

Soundtrack de Mogwai vous dites? Hmm. "French supernatural thriller set in a small Alpine village where members of a group of men, women and children find themselves in a state of confusion, trying to return to their homes - unaware of the fact they have been dead for several years". Said small Alpine village is in the shadow of a large dam according to my Guardian Guide. I'll wager that in the final episode the Dam bursts and floods/destroys the village. This isn't a spoiler as I really haven't a clue...Maybe it already did burst and that's why they're dead.

Yes, why is the water level dropping? Is it a slo-mo representation of the town having been flooded? And when the old geezer set fire to his home why did he leave the fire and then hop off the dam to his (presumed) death? Also how come the girl he tied up (his daughter?) wasn't found by the firemen? Maybe the whole town is dead/flooded and doesn't realise it. When the lights flickered out, did that represent the end of reality? Is it all some sort of purgatory after that?... Thanks for making me watch bloodynora, now I'm going to have to stay dedicated for another seven weeks!
