I'm not sure of my reasoning for buying this. I'm thinking that I might have bought it for the BM1988 Dub, which I possibly didn't have at the time (I got it later, after having bought both the 12" promo and the CDV).

Yes I have that BM Qwest 12” with TBTHOG and TBTHOD on the b side as well. But, isn’t Blue Monday 1988 Dub just the same as Beach Buggy? Haven’t played it in years but might have to dig it out if there’s a difference

It’s different. Beach Buggy 12” is 6:52, whilst the Dub is 7:18.
Both were included on the Recycle Project.

The Dub is the same as the DJ Only Mix on here:

https://www.discogs.com/...day-1988/release/1280703

And is also on the CDV:

Ok, compared Blue Monday 1988 Dub and Beach Buggy. Yeah there’s quite a few differences isn’t there. Seems to be a lot more of the mad man going on about “ ah boy this is too much” and “ look at them! Look at them!” and other stuff on the dub. Beach Buggy samples the 1234 from Hurt and WWWRL from Confusion 1987 which the dub doesn’t. Interesting! They’re quite different.

here are some other odds and ends i compiled for the recycle 2 boxset project:

http://forums.neworderon...t=1699&p=4#post13532

let's go, was not really a single,
basically a promo..

much later, they added vocals to it,
and put it on the best of in the US.
in the UK it was a b-side track to
the limited UK single of 1963 re-release.

but during that time, they came out with
tracks from salvation:
=====================================
1 let's go (nothing for me) 3:55 v, cd, cs
2 let's go (salvation) 3:42 v, cd, cs
3 let's go (extract) 2:01 cd
4 Salvation Theme 2:12 v,cd, cs
5 Touched by the Hand of God 4:59 v,cd,cs
6 Sputnik 2:28 v,cd,cs
7 Skullcrusher 2:49 v,cd,cs
8 Touched by the Hand of God (12" version) 7:59 cd
9 touched by the hand of God (bias 2000) 6:46 cd
10 touched by the hand of God (razormaid) 6:42 v
11 salvation (demo) 4:38 dig
12 touched by the hand of God (demo) 4:58 dig
13 lets go (demo) 3:23 dig
14 skullcrusher (demo) 3:42 dig
15 lets go (unreleased original 1985 vocal) 3:57 dig
16 lets go (US best of non fade) 4:02 cd
==============================

http://forums.neworderon...sts&t=1706#post13149

and for blue monday 88:
===============================
beach buggy (7" edit) 4:17 v, cd, cs
beach buggy (12") 6:52 v, cd, cs

blue monday 1988 (or -88)(7") 4:10 v, cd, cdv, cs, ld
blue monday 1988 (12" or remix) 7:09 v, cd, cdv, cs
blue monday 1988 (dub version) 7:16 v, cd

and the promo versions:

26. New Order - [1988 Demos (Cassette side two) #07] Blue Monday 1988 (no samples) (start missing) [5:01]
27. New Order - [1988 Demos (Cassette side two) #08] Blue Monday 1988 (no samples) [7:10]

Was never a big fan of BM 88 and only bought that Qwest 12” for the collecting. I probably played Blue Monday 1988 Dub just once, years ago and never revisited it since, so hence ended up thinking it was Beach Buggy by another name. Interesting the things you discover or rediscover from this forum

The ‘Salvation Demos’ include another (shorter) version of ‘Salvation Theme’ (sometimes wrongly listed as being ‘Sputnik’). It doesn’t look like you have that one listed.

What I have is as follows:

Salvation Theme (Demo 1) 4:46
Touched By The Hand Of God (Demo) 5:08
Let’s Go (Demo) 3:31 ***
Salvation Theme (Demo 2) 1:51 (sometimes erroneously listed as ‘Sputnik’ (Demo)
Skullcrusher (Demo) 3:49

*** This is a vocal demo of the ‘Nothing For Me’ version (I.e. not the older ‘Waiting For So Long’ vocal demo)

They're different remixers for a start, Beach Buggy is a Michael Johnson remix, the Dub is one of the John Potoker/Quincy Jones remixes.

Thanks to a member on these forums, I was finally able to see the film 2-3 years ago.
It is as bad as everyone says. Avoid!

I'm grateful to the user that helped me out though. At least I can say I've seen it.

By the way, I've often thought that, at least at one stage, 'Salvation Theme' and 'Sputnik' were different parts of the same piece of longer music (similar to the 'Peter Saville Soundtrack').
If I remember correctly, if you watch the film, certain bits of the soundtrack itself seems to contain elements of both tracks.

I reckon that, at some point, the band (or even the film makers / record label) chopped it into pieces and called it by two separate names. Maybe to pad out the soundtrack; make it look like the band had recorded more pieces for the film.

As possible evidence of this theory, on those 'Salvation Demos' that have been doing the rounds for years, one of the two versions of 'Salvation Theme' on them was actually labelled up as 'Sputnik'.
That could possibly denote that the two pieces may have been edited from a longer piece, or that they had interchangeable names. Could just be mislabelling though, as well, I guess.

I may be completely wrong here though. Just pure (and fun!) speculation on my part.

I've seen a clip of the film somewhere with 'Let's Go' in the background and it's different to what's on the 'Salvation' soundtrack and any of the other released versions. Sounds a bit more synthy. Hope it gets released as part of the 'Low-life' definitive edition.

Not sure if the "original"(?) version of Shellshock, with the extra verse, was released somewhere else.

UserPostedImage UserPostedImage UserPostedImage

This soundtrack features an official edit of Pettibone's The Morning Sun remix, different from the one on the promo CD and CDV, which got botched on the chorus. It can also be found here: https://www.discogs.com/...er-Indie/release/7168650

20 years on, and I still find it hard to believe Someone Like You wasn't the (obvious) first single. Crystal is great and did really well, but I love this track.

Looks like it's contained within this clip here on YouTube from 1:27 onwards. Sounds like the Salvation soundtrack CD version but with a more prominent synth bass. Could be the same mix but EQd or compressed a bit. Or a different mix. Tricky to tell.

Never a big fan of BM 88 either, certainly after the scorching original on Spunkstance, but the video's cool. They even got Gillian to move a muscle.
There was also a DMC mix which was similar to Bitch Bugger 12", from The Remix boot I keep going on about.

I love that version of 'Shellshock' from the 'Pretty In Pink' soundtrack. It's easily my favourite version.
It strikes a nice balance between having the 'bonus verse' that was eliminated from the 7" and 'Substance' edit, but isn't anywhere near as repetitive as the full 12" version.

As well as the three exclusive mixes on the soundtracks mentioned above (Pretty In Pink, Married To The Mob, Salvation!, Bright Lights, Big City), there's also:

'Temptation' 3:30 (from 'Something Wild')

https://www.discogs.com/...ndtrack/release/13927074

'Blue Monday-95' (Hardfloor Mix) 4:45 (from 'The Lakes')

https://www.discogs.com/...he-Lakes/release/6158976

'Bizarre Love Triangle' 3:25 (from 'Threesome')

https://www.discogs.com/...-Picture/release/2871665

I think the latter one (BLT) isn't actually exclusive, but is just a rare mix. If I recall correctly, it also appeared on a BLT Us 12" promo:

https://www.discogs.com/...-Triangle/release/349673

Can anyone confirm if these are the same mixes (i.e. that 7" edit and the 'Threesome' version)? I have the latter but not the former, so can't check.

Another soundtrack of note, which doesn't contain an exclusive remix, but is still fairly interesting:

'Murder' (from 'Empire State')

https://www.discogs.com/...ecording/release/7859354

I have all the soundtracks listed above, plus the aforementioned 'Married To The Mob', 'Pretty In Pink' and 'Salvation!'. All on CD.

Yep. There's also another exclusive edit of the 1987 version on this:

https://www.discogs.com/...-Scene-82/release/445081

It's not just an early fade, as it appears to start and end around about the same place. It must be shorter in the middle somewhere, although I've never checked where.

As well as the three exclusive mixes on the soundtracks mentioned above (Pretty In Pink, Married To The Mob, Salvation!, Bright Lights, Big City), there's also:

'Temptation' 3:30 (from 'Something Wild')

https://www.discogs.com/...ndtrack/release/13927074

one of the first soundtrack ones i got.

Quote:

'Blue Monday-95' (Hardfloor Mix) 4:45 (from 'The Lakes')

https://www.discogs.com/...he-Lakes/release/6158976

never heard of it, have to order it...

Quote:

'Bizarre Love Triangle' 3:25 (from 'Threesome')

https://www.discogs.com/...-Picture/release/2871665

I think the latter one (BLT) isn't actually exclusive, but is just a rare mix. If I recall correctly, it also appeared on a BLT Us 12" promo:

https://www.discogs.com/...-Triangle/release/349673

Can anyone confirm if these are the same mixes (i.e. that 7" edit and the 'Threesome' version)? I have the latter but not the former, so can't check.

i have them, but haven't checked.

All on CD.

empire state is another new one for me.. but have the rest.

back in 2004, we covered bizarre love triangle on ceremony:

Code:

'its a problem i find'

query

hi no'ers,

ok, i'm sure this has been
brought up before (even recently)..

in fact in :
http://monkey.org/~laps/ceremony/digests/v2003.n059

>> The 3:40 edit of BLT (US 12" promo) - is that on any CD?
>>
>> Isn't that the Single Remix?

>Well, it's listed as being titled as "edit" or "Shep's Single >Mix", so
depending

>on what listing you go by, maybe. :)

>Here's a matrix of BLT compiled from all the discography >sources. I do this
to
>illustrate how confusing the whole situation is, given that >there may be only
really
>only 3 unique mixes and their corresponding edits (making a >total of six)
and
>variations thereof (an additional two, for a total of 8).

7 : 00     I Don't Care (dub)
7 : 03 Bizarre Love Triangle (Shep.s Dub Version)

[1] A unique edit, only available on the Canadian 7".

[2] This is what
http://www.worldinmotion.net/neworder/discography/singles/1986/blt.htm

gives for the second track on Qwest PRO-CD-7587. If it is correct.

So, to recap, there's the album version (with possibly a unique edit on a promo),
a 12"
remix with an edited version, a 7" remix with a Canadian-only variation, and
a dub version
with its own edit.

=======================

i just wanted to check out this mix, in
case any new information, or
verification has been made
(or new info, t?)....

12": US 1994 (Qwest PRO-A-7622) [promo]
4:59 Bizarre Love Triangle (12" alternate)

(i've added the time to the discography listing)..

is this the same as the 'extended edit' version
(which i finally picked up)? it appears to have
the same time..but there are no credits on this
12" promo:

12": US 1986 (Qwest PRO-A-2636) [promo]
4:58 Bizarre Love Triangle (extended edit)

also, i have the canadian 7",
and have done some listening tests,
and can't really tell the difference
from the other 7" versions..

also 'the married to the mob' version,
might be the 'shep single mix'......

it might be time to put down
the definitive version listing
for this song..and bring these
issues to rest....

(don't forget..
8:59 Bizarre Love Triangle (armand van helden mix)

..of course a lot of people WOULD RATHER FORGET
that it does exist, i think it can still be
'salvaged' and made into another mix though.)..

The Japanese Music Complete box. Does that fall in the oddities class? Either way all my attempts to tie it back up in a correct and impressive manner have always met with failure . Set me back around £70 a few years ago .Took about 3 months between purchasing and delivery.

It took like six months to arrive here. Plus 100% in taxes/fees.

The Music Complete era has its own oddities, like the picture 7" of People on the High Line, featuring an exclusive mix, and a few digital ones like the full instrumental album, Restless + Tutti Frutti instrumental remixes and the Weatherall dub for Restless, unreleased anywhere to my knowledge. Not to mention the radio edits.

Somehow I managed to get the instrumentals, but it isn't even listed on Discogs. I only found this one with the extended instrumentals, which I've never heard about: https://www.discogs.com/...umentals/release/9966702

It was discussed years ago in this thread: http://forums.neworderon....aspx?g=posts&t=3077

In addition, the Extended Bonus mix of Restless from the japanese CD appears to differ from all other 12"s released

Yes I have that People On The Highline picture disc 7”. That also took a while, though think that was manufacturing issues. Also have the MC CD singles card slipcase ( and the complete set of the CD singles to go in it) and the Deluxe box with the album on vinyl and 12” discs with the extended mixes.
