Thanks, D!

Wonder if there will be any extra tracks (there were, after all, a few B-sides on the single releases).

Shame no CD, and probably the reason I won't be getting this.
If there are some unreleased bonus tracks, I might buy digitally (if that is an option).

Assume this thread was meant for either DR or MFP so I've moved it into the main forum for visibility.

Really welcome news. A fantastic album and every bit the equal of Electronic's debut, which tends to hog all the side project glory from muso journos perspectives.

A bit of Googling reveals it is coming out on Music On Vinyl on 14 June: https://www.musiconvinyl.com/pro...n?variant=49006285586707

2,000 copies orange vinyl, 180g, gatefold... MOV have a habit of releasing a standard black edition after the limited run is sold, so that could also happen here (no idea, for now).

6 bonus tracks included:

- Bicycle Thief
- Ultra
- Comin' Around Again
- Shattered
- Sweet Lips (Farley & Heller’s Ambient Mix)
- Sweet Lips (Joey Negro aka Dave Lee Main Slice)

So, the B-sides of the era, plus 2 remixes.

For once I'm not bothered about a CD because the original '97 pressing is pretty much the definitive mastering and doesn't need messing with. Ditto for the CD singles.

A real "pleasure" to hit the "place order" button on this one Wink

Well, it wasn't on the original double LP and didn't make it onto vinyl at all from what I recall. Not hugely surprising.

At time of writing, Spotify, Apple Music, Qobuz etc. are basically offering the US configuration of the album which includes Under The Stars as track 10. So it is available to buy/stream right now.

It's a good track but it's resemblance to a certain talk show theme tune meant it wasn't a huge surprise it didn't receive a general UK release. Even as a B-side. The shredded guitar outro is pretty memorable, as is Hooky's nod to Way of Life.

An expanded digital reissue of the album would be nice - as manufacturing CDs undoubtedly costs - I had many a CD2 tracklist in my head from back in the day. B-sides, demos, live tracks... even the Bee Gees cover.

For now, this looks like a pretty decent reissue to enjoy.

Confusingly Hooky's social media posts say 1000 copies. I'm guessing it's a typo by him/Jack/someone...

Going for Heller & Farley's ambient mix (basically an instrumental) rather than the vocal mix is a bit of a susprise but...ok.
Dave Lee decided to stop using the Joey Negro alias recently-ish, in the same way (sort of) that The Black Madonna changed her name to The Blessed Madonna. So now it's a bit confusing how to refer to old stuff that he did.

As someone who appreciates Monaco's similarities to New Order's sound, I really like the instrumental versions (not remixes) included on the singles. I'm happy for those who are celebrating this reissue but I still have the CD singles so I'm not really bothering with it.

Really great news.

Only had this album on CD and very pleased to finally get it on vinyl.

I do prefer the electronic first album but this is the next best non new order release without the name Joy Division.

Great album (2nd only to Electronic#1 in the side-project stakes) but I couldn't give less of a toss about vinyl.

That said, this has prompted me to re-buy the long lost WDYWFM single, so I can re-add Ultra to my library. Great tune.

Under The Stars is on the U.S. CD and cassette, before Sedona, not after, like the Japanese CD.

I've wanted a vinyl copy of this album for years, but knowing it's not what I consider complete, I'm going to pass.

Ha! That's me! Had the pleasure of seeing Hooky (and Pottsy) play in my home town this week too :)

Does seem a bit of a lost opportunity though to overlook Under The Stars. Also, I haven't heard anything about whether this is being remastered for vinyl or a straight digital transfer which I suspect it is

It all seems a little half-arsed. Just a rush to get it out on vinyl.

Shame, as it’s a decent LP.

I was going to start a separate thread but... probably not much point as it can be included here.

Some new Monaco (digital) reissues have recently appeared on Qobuz (and Spotify), likely to coincide with the new vinyl pressing:

- What Do Want From Me?
- Shine (Someone Who Needs Me)
- I've Got A Feeling

Good to see IGAF reissued as the original CD single was famously a pain in the arse and costly to find. Interesting to see the copyright revert to Polydor (was Chrysalis/Papillon).

Sweet Lips isn't up yet but may well appear soon, who knows?

Some good stuff on these singles, particularly Wdywfm? which I'm sure many NO fans caned back in early '97.

EDIT 15/06, Sweet Lips has appeared:

- Sweet Lips CD1
- Sweet Lips CD2

Edited by user 15 June 2024 01:17:12(UTC)  | Reason: Sweet Lips added.

Great news... if only they issued digitally the See-Saw remixes it would be great, as well as the Bee Gees cover and the FC Kahuna mix for Buzz Gum.

I have the See-Saw 12" but never managed to get any decent rip. If anyone is feeling generous, I'm interested Wink

See-Saw and its accompanying remixes were very much "of their time" and to be honest, not great. Sure, be good to see them reissued for completion's sake but not much else.

The Bee Gees cover was fun, and still sounds pretty good. The Buzz Gum mix was also creative enough and I vaguely remember the charity comp it came out on. Been a while since I listened to either.

Fun Fact: Buzz Gum was briefly considered as a 4th single from MFP but not used. A unique "radio edit" even made it out on some Canadian PolyGram sampler CDs back in the day...
