First off, I'm new here, so hello everyone Hi

The gig here in Singapore was last night but I'm still recovering from the mind-blowing experience I had. I've been an avid listener of NO's music since 2004 and I was pretty convinced that they wouldn't set foot here for a live performance, even more so during the time they "broke up" when Hooky left. I still was convinced when they reformed. I thought they were a pretty obscure band here, outside of being known for Bizarre Love Triangle and Blue Monday still constantly played in clubs.

But come this year and I was so excited to find out that they were stopping by! And the floor was packed! Sang at the top of my lungs and had a great time!

Song list:
Crystal (expected)
Regret
Here To Stay (very surprised!)
Ceremony
Krafty
The Perfect Kiss
True Faith
586
Bizarre Love Triangle
Temptation
Blue Monday
Transmission
LWTUA

Highlights of the concert for me:

- Bernard complaining about the hot and humid evening (jokingly) and mentioned that they will play long through the "cool" night Happy

- Some in the crowd singing Temptation's "Ohhhhh!" and Bernard saying, "We won't perform that, not even Blue Monday. We're going to do the obscure songs". Eek

- Steven hitting the drums before Bernard could finish talking, with Bernard telling him off after the song was done in a light-hearted manner, and Steve's expression was like "WHAT? with his hands up in the air. It was hilarious Big Grin

- Bernard's signature dance! Eek

- The band teasingly saying "Good night" and leaving the stage before performing the last two JD songs, only to come back to say that they had forgotten to get their guitars Big Grin

- A tribute picture of Ian Curtis being shown on the display screen when LWTUA was playing.

My only regret was not seeing Hooky together with them. I would loved to have seen him interact with the crowd too. But hey, I think Tom did a good job filling in for him!

Bernard said that they hoped to come back again. I hope they do! Tongue

Not sure if that setlist is in the correct order - the one at setlist.fm looks 'more likely' (i.e. SOS)

I'd have had a heart attack if they'd played Here To Stay straight after Regret. Sounds too good to be true!

I admit that the set list might not be entirely accurate, it was from memory and I wasn't focused on remembering the sequence of songs by hard, was too distracted having fun Big Grin

However I can truly confirmed that they did play Here To Stay early on in the gig.

Okay I saw the list at setlist.fm and realized how inaccurate I was in remembering it. I even forgot they performed Elegia! I've even forgotten Isolation What! Eek

The actual songlist:
Elegia
Crystal
Regret
Ceremony
Age of Consent
Isolation
Krafty
Here to Stay
Bizarre Love Triangle
5 8 6
The Perfect Kiss
True Faith
Blue Monday
Temptation
Transmission
Love Will Tear Us Apart

Sorry bout that!Clown

Thanks for the link.

Only part I disagreed about the review stating that Bizarre Love Triangle failed to hit the mark. Hah! Really? People were going BALLISTIC when they started playing it. Yes it's a song that has melancholic lyrics, but it's an upbeat song above everything else and it gets people dancing. I don't get that part abou them usually performing it with a trademark blend of melancholia and joy. Skeptic

yep, people go ballistic when they hear it,'coz it's a great song. but for me it's always a bit hit and miss live. sometimes, live, it captures the essence of a great song, sometimes it falls a bit flat. I think you already answered your comment about melancholia and joy - it's a mixture of uplifting with that slight under tow of sadness, and it's one of the things I love about their music. glad you enjoyed the gig
