Yeah, the "Come in". I forgot about the "Oohs". Definitely not an instrumental! The same goes for "Turning Point' by Electronic.

Yeah, I was on about the "Oohs" - apologies, should have been more specific! Another case of calling a track an instrumental when it's not really is 'Confused Instrumental' (the one on the original 12" and 'Substance' B-sides disc). Loads of vocal excerpts in that one - more like a dub really. Guess it's all semantics and inconsistencies really - life is full of such grey areas!

That’s cool.
As I’ve pre-ordered through Amazon, I believe they guarantee the lower price the product is listed at between point of ordering and point of release.
Hope it keeps dropping between now and the 27th.

Yep would be a good bonus and still getting it on release date - fingers crossed.

Encouraging. Very encouraging. Would be great if it dropped again before release. Reckon i'd go for it if price dropped a bit more, to around £100 ish. That'd be a reasonable price IMO. But i'll prob give in before release anyhow and go for the £121 if that's the way it's gonna stay. Somehow it turns out i'm not nearly as skint after christmas and new year as i'd thought i'd be. Really don't know how, but in a better place cashwise than i thought.

What I tend to do on things like this is pre-order, then set a reminder in my calendar for a few days before release.
That way you can cancel if you want to at the last minute (i.e. before dispatch), but still you 'lock in' the best price.
There is always a chance it could go up a little between now and release (probably unlikely, but you never know).

I'm a little surprised Stephen hasn't yet done any radio interviews promoting the box.For the Movement and PCL boxes he was reinforcing his reputation as the hardest working person in the band in terms of doing promo. I think even Bernard did some radio stuff for the Movement box promo. As i recall, for the PCL one it was only Steve. For example, he did a long interview for an Irish station, talking about PCL and the Kilkenny 83 gig. Just seems all strangely quiet considering the box is only a couple of weeks awayConfused

Agreed. The best thing Steve did for PC&L was that interview with Haslam (I think) where he showed about 5 or 6 live performances which didn’t make the box set. Hopefully we get something similar this time.

More classic-era NO goodies is always welcome.

I really hope so. Maybe one of us should Tweet Stephen to see if he might do something similar to last time. He seems pretty amenable on Twitter.

I love S&G. They just seem the nicest people you could ever want to meet.

Thanks for the link, -ve1.

Sadly, the demo is fairly dull IMO, doesn't really go anywhere, is repetitive and starts to wear by the time it reaches the halfway point (I guess that might be the reason the band recorded a three minute version for the Salvation release).

Was kind of hoping that they'd found a vocal version tucked away in the vaults, but realise that this was unlikely (or if one was found, maybe Bernard et al might not have been too keen to release).

Still, it'll be nice to have.

I've tweeted Steve and Dave Haslam this morning to see if they might do another 'Gorilla TV' episode to showcase stuff that didn't make the cut for the box set (like they did for PC&L). I probably won't get a response, but will update here, if I do.

No response so far, but Mr Haslam 'liked' my tweet, so he's seen it.
You never know, it might spur him on to get something organised with Steve.

Liked the end of that Skullcrusher demo, Bernard slashes and stabs at his guitar.

Hadn't occurred to me before with Skullcrusher how Steve's drumming is quite reminiscent of something from Closer era JD. That kind of rolling, tribal style. Like his drumming on Atrocity Exhibition except much, much faster. Only other NO tracks that spring to mind that have a similar drumming style are Denial and Murder. What a truly fantastic drummer.

The last minute or so particularly could be Joy Division - you can easily imagine Ian singing over the top of that

But i agree it's pretty formless here. Weirdly the Barcelona July 84 soundboard doesn't have the same rolling drum pattern and Bernard seems to have a vocal mostly worked out

Another misstep from their Social Media Manager. He seems more interested in promoting The Subways than New Order lately.

There's a website article, I think on the Electricity Club on why Steve stopped the tribal drumming, can't remember but think it was because it was too much like JD. Face Up was tribal/disco lol..

I think it was on one of Tim's Listening Parties where Steve said how the drumming on Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica album was an influence for him.Beefheart was one of those artists i've never even attempted to investigate. He was before my time really, or at least , the majority of his output was released before i was at an age i really got into music.I think he was one of those artists whose music that if you get it, it's great but if you don't it'll be impossible to engage with.Think i'd be the latter. But then i've never really tried.

Pre-odered today from Amazon but the email notification states estimated delivery not until 1st Feb. Bit of a bummer but fingers crossed it turns up on the 27th Jan. Or even the day before as i recall happened with the previous 2 definitive boxes.
