ok,
very nice show...

had not seen them in ages.

went with a group of friends so didn't
have time to catch up with NOOLER's (sorry)..

venue was packed, got their early and
waited a bit before going in...

friends got the t-shirt,
i got the very last keychain they had!

onto the show..
a dj played, and a local group called ishi
played afterwards.

waited awhile, and finally new order came out.
==========================
1 Elegia
2 Crystal
3 Ceremony
4 Love vigilantes
5 Isolation
6 Age of consent
7 Your silent face
8 Here To Stay
9 Bizarre love triangle
10 True Faith
11 586
12 The perfect kiss
13 blue monday
14 Temptation

encores
======================
15 Atmosphere
16 shadowplay
17 Transmission
18 Love will tear us apart

i think that was it..
could be off on the order (ha ha)..

took a lot of pictures and videos
will post links if they turn out
ok...

bernard had a lot of nice and funny
comments..

awesome seeing gillian back in the lineup..

stephen was amazing as usual, and the two
new guys filled in the gaps very well..

overall a very good job from all of them,
and a very lively crowd made this one a
concert to remember!

thanks for coming out new order, it's been
too long, don't wait this much for the
next time..

If the encore gets any bigger there'll be no time for the main show.

Good to see shadowplay back.

Really enjoyed the show last night. Thought the best t-shirt wasn't at the merch stand, but was the one Stephen was wearing that said "You lost me at hello."

The sold-out crowd was dense, seemingly sprouting out of every nook and cranny. Even way in the back, beyond a usually curtained-off area, the mass of people was thick. That’s where I stood catching sliver glances of New Order onstage as I tried desperately to avoid ending up behind a tall guy.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Palladium Ballroom so packed on a Friday night. That is a testament to Britain’s New Order. The influential, pioneering group, with its post-punk mixture of dance, alt-rock, electronic and house elements, hasn’t toured the states in seven years. Also, this trek is only seven dates, of which the Dallas gig was smack dab in the middle.

Sumner sang New Order staples plus nods to predecessors Joy Division. (Ben Torres/Special Contributor )

The absence of original bassist Peter Hook, who departed the band five years ago, might have dismayed the purists. Not that you could tell. The mass inside that expansive club was downright giddy during the presence of vocalist Bernard Sumner, drummer Stephen Morris, keyboardist Gillian Gilbert, bassist Tom Chapman and guitarist Phil Cunningham.

New Order performed for about 90 minutes after an opening set by Dallas’ own folk-electronic ensemble Ishi. The show was akin to a traveling European discotheque. There was a video screen behind the stage projecting images, words and graphics. But the lights were the stars – swathes of yellow, blue and red; criss-crossing white beams; and swirls of color illuminating the platform.

It felt good to breathe the New Order air, to be in the same room as they played “Ceremony,” “Bizarre Love Triangle,” “Blue Monday,” “True Faith,” “The Perfect Kiss” and “Age of Consent.” There were Joy Division songs, too, a nod to the predecessor from which New Order was born after the suicide of Division frontman Ian Curtis.

The sound was loud, pulsating, rocking, thumping and entrancing. But there’s nothing about New Order that screams performance. That is by design. Sumner was affable, chatting with the audience now and then. Overall, however, it’s about cranking out the staples to create a kinetic soundtrack that’ll keep the fans euphoric.

Sumner himself couldn’t contain the urge to dance. He was doing a little jamming during the long instrumental break of “Blue Monday.” He also ended up on Gilbert’s perch to play a little side-by-side keyboards.

I’m not so sure if anybody around me noticed that. They were all busy jumping with arms flailing and head bobbing. The mood was infectious.

Kinda pissed off cos NO played Shadowplay, Transmission with Love Vigilantes AND Here to Stay. They finished off the encore with 4 JD songs. And we in LA only get 2. Frown

To be fair, they've played in Southern California much more often than Texas.

Nothing to add to the comments re the set. Dallas gave the band an amazing reception and the possibility of a quick return visit must be higher now than it was on Friday morning.

Nice to see the legendary Andy Liddle getting credit for his light show. Well deserved smoke going up his arse.

although i agree with the sentiments..

and don't get me wrong, having visuals (like underworld),
and lighting to compliment the music was a very modern,
and sterile touch.. almost distracting and detracting from
the music.

the band themselves are pretty much a corporation now,
devoid of any spontaneity (even the adlibs from bernard
are pretty much the same from show to show),and any of
the punk ethic from which they started..

the rigid structure, timing, and execution of the show,
great as it is on a technical level, and especially to those
that haven't seen them much (if ever) is appreciated.

however, looking back at how they were, and even shows from
the 80's which i went to, (and even remembered), listening
to those old broadcasts shows quite a discrepancy.

new order of now, can't compete or even come close to the
band they used to be in the past. regardless of whether
hooky would have been with them now (debatable) or not.
time has changed all of them, and not necessarily for the
better.

but in this case, knowing we might not see them again anytime
soon, is enough of a reason to see them. regardless of the
musical quality.

Great to meet you and some of your fellow Vikings! Honored to have received a Viking pin as well :)

No sign of "Uncle Mikey" the next morning suspect he was in rough shape! We were probably half way back to Houston before he was up and moving!

Hopefully we will run into ya'll again at a future show! Enjoy tonights show in Mexico City, you are going, right?

pretty much all the tracks from this,
except for 'here to stay' are up on
youtube.

i'm not going to post my video,
because most are a lot better.

i am going to combine them into one show,
and put the best audio with them for a DVD.

also i might just post the remaining tracks
as the rest of the show if the audio is
decent..
