As many of you will be aware, it was the tenth anniversary of Tony's death on the 10th of August. Presumably that's the impetus for this new documentary from BBC 6 Music. 2 x 1 hour.

Yeah, still seems a bit shit he's not about so I'll give that a listen at some but...
I was sure that quote attributed to him there was actually penned by Frank Cottrell Boyce for the 24HPP script. It's quite possible it was plucked from conversations between the two, though, I guess.

Excerpt from 'Last Interview With Tony Wilson', the last Tony Wilson interview: 'Manchester was Manchester and it was Manchester and Manchester was Manchester. And out of Manchester there came this city - Manchester - and this band - Joy Division. There couldn't have been Manchester without Manchester, or Joy Division, and I thought, Fuck - this is Manchester, right? So let's - let's just have... Manchester. And that meant Joy Division, who became New Order - yeah, Manchester meant New Order too right? Gonna shoot me? Never shoot people, that's the fundamental rule of television. Never shoot. Just Manchester, New Order and New Order. And I'm like, on the telly, so I'm like, Yeah, let's put Manchester on the telly. And Joy Division, and New Order. Gonna shoot me? I mean Hey, I'm Tony Wilson, this is Manchester, this is New Order.' Edited by user 13 August 2017 04:08:31(UTC)

Well, yeah, and being as the fucker's dead there's unlikely to be anything new in it, he hasn't done much in the last ten years for example. But I've heard songs more than once, watched films more than once and I've read the Bible more than once so I'm quite happy to hear the same old stuff once again. I lied about the Bible, though.

I had a quick look around the Tue Faith exhibition yesterday, on my way to the pre-match boozer. A very nice set up but the picture of a very smug looking Tony hanging over the doorway as I left was a lovely finishing touch. I miss him.
