I don't think this is the first time they have done so. I think it's been mentioned here in the past.
NO have said in interviews that they hope Hooky's happy doing what he's doing.
Perhaps, to some extent they mean it.
If he was sitting at home doing nothing he might be even more bitter! And they don't want him continually demanding to rejoin NO.
Also I wonder if this may help NO in their defence of the court case. An attempt to show that they're not trying to deny him his right to make a living from the music he was involved with.
