If anyone out there is an M83 fan, then you might have already noticed this, but I just noticed that their song, "Claudia Lewis" (on their album, "Hurry Up, I'm Dreaming") faintly reminds me of some of the synth-lines from "Thieves Like Us."

If you haven't noticed it, listen to the song a few times and you will distinctly hear the New Order influence in that song...

Have you not heard of M83? They have quite the following out here in America; even though they are from France. I'm not a spammer, by the way...

If we listed every single song in the world that sounds a bit like JD or NO, or sounds influenced by them...it'd be quite a long thread. Sleep

M83 are (is - essentially one guy plus a bunch of hired guns) awesome and I'm sure MOST people here would be well familiar with them. Don't take it to heart :)
Midnight City = best track of 2011 IMO

I bought their "Before the Dawn Heals us" album back in '05 but then lost a bit of interest. At 2011's camden crawl I saw a band called Team Ghost, who i thought sounded a bit like M83, but only afterwards found out that Team Ghost's main man had been in M83. So as I understand it M83 used to be Anthony Gonzales and Nicholas Fromageau (does that translate as "cheesy"?).
So Mr Fromageau left at some point (2004?) and eventually re-surfaced as Team Ghost around 2010 (what was he doing from 2004 to 2010?), whilst Mr Gonzales kept the M83 name.
Is that about the size of it?

Wow, it never dawned on me to check what the other half of the original M83 was up to. THANKS!!! I just downloaded a bunch of their songs. Team Ghost is a good find...I cannot believe they haven't gotten as much airplay as M83...

Best track of 2011 (topped a bunch of polls as well including Pitchfork), best album of 2011, potentially the best gig of 2011 had I not been a bit unwell, deffo best gig of 2012 so far (last week in Edinburgh). How can you argue against an intro like this?.....

Looked up that Midnight City song on You toob, yeah i liked it. sounds familiar, must have heard it somewhere

Got a podcast of a 5 minute mini mix M83 did for Annie Mac on Radio 1, some good moments in there particularly when it mixes It's Not Over by Holy Ghost into It's My Life by Talk Talk

Take your pick....

Theme tune to Made In Chelsea
Theme tune to last autumn's Victoria's Secret ad campaign
BBC1 idents
Regular feature on Match of The Day sequences

I'd play safe and say you must know it from MOTD

I never watch MOTDSmile Well not the Saturday night one anyway

and i never watch adverts. if they are on i scramble frantically for the mute button. watch most tv after the programme has aired, on Virgin On Demand where obviuosly yer can skip the adverts or even better the adverts are removed. Made In Chelsea, i have no idea what that is/ wasSmile

must be BBC1 Idents then!
