Though i saw a cracking rainbow today.

Yes, i'm thinking i might buy Morrosey's book.I mean, he's no Oscar Wilde or Ian Curtis but it could be a good read. Does he have a go or something at Julie Birchill in the book? Thought i read somewhere that he has a snipe at her in it but may have misunderstood that.

He should really have just stuck to writing after The Smiths because the actual music for most of his solo stuff has been about as interesting as mixing cement.Ok maybe Everyday Is Like Sunday and Suedehead were great musically but the rest has been dire drudge.

And of course i can't leave any comment about Morrosey without mentioning Rob Gretton's famous line to him.

" You know your trouble, Morrissey, you never had the fucking guts to kill yourself"

I remember learning of The Smiths splitting up. Was a Monday evening in August 87 and had the Radio 1 evening show on when they announced it. Can't really recall my reaction exactly.Maybe slightly disappointed i guess as i'd enjoyed The Queen Is Dead album immensely and all the singles from 83 onwards but never got into the first 2 albums for some reason, think i only ever gave Meat Is Murder a couple of listens though That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore was ok. Strangeways, Here We Come had some great songs.Always liked Paint A Vulgar Picture, I Started Something..., Stop Me..., Last Night I Dreamt...

Girlfriend In A Coma is possibly my favourite Smiths song. Good tune, great lyrics and lovely guitar work from Marr

Channel 4 news the other night had their obligatory spot about the book. John Snow read out a a couple of lines one of which was the bit about Morrissey's mum being hurt giving birth to him because his head was so big to which Christian Guru Murphy quipped something about it was because his chin was too big Laugh

Shocker revelation I've heard... apparently Morrisey outs himself.Eek He's played coy for so long, I guess he waited until nobody really cared much anymore... cool in his own way.

Well i bought a copy , in Smiths :drummer:

He was awarded the keys to the city of Tel Aviv in 2012? Crikey that's slightly strange to learn. Never had Israelis down as being massive fans.

"In my life why do i smile at people i'd much rather kick in the eye?" is a line that's frequently and consistently sprang to my mind throughout my life, really

A rush and a push and the book is read. Hilarious and tortuous in equal measure i'd summarise.A fair bit of bitchy sniping at "meat-fed (Tony) Wilson" . Ended up skipping most of the Morrissey v Mike Joyce court case segment though, ugh.

This came as light relief, spotted the other day.Morrissey's morningLaugh Laugh

So, I broke into the palace
With a sponge and a rusty spanner
She said : "Eh, I know you, and you cannot sing"
I said : "That's nothing - you should hear me play piano"

that article really made me laugh, johnny, thanks. (although i'm sitting in my classroom where the kids are working silently under exam conditions, so what i actually did was stifle giggles with my fist shoved into my gob and my shoulders shaking. NO thanks.)

i have not read the book so cannot comment, but i do hear he has used american spellings such as 'glamor' and 'color', which seems the very antithesis of morrissey-esque...

Yep he does indeed indulge in American spelling.Only reason I can think of for this is he's been living in Los Angeles too long.

As coincidence had it on Halloween night i got to a bit in the book where he tells a tale about he and friends visiting the Manchester moors one dark January night in 1989 where they think they saw a ghost . A spooky tale.
