Went to this one. What a great fucking gig.It was a pissing with rain November night but that only seemed to add to the the greatness of the evening.I rate it as good as if not better than any of the 80s gigs. Barney was funny as fuck .Often gets me baffled why music journos often say Barney has no stage personality. He was funny as fuck! His between songs quips WERE PURE GOLD.

Actually, i realised some years after the gig why maybe i enjoyed it so much, because at the age of 17 i'd tried and failed to get a ticket to their Hammersmith Palais gig twenty years previously EXACTLY to the night, 10th November 1985, which hurt me immensely at the time.So it was kind of a Karma ( if you're into that kind of 21st century karma crap) thing, finally making up for missing that Hammersmith gig aged 17.

I've been to the pub tonight.

I have no recollection at all of this gig apart from bumping into the a guy recording it on his cap-headphones. I thought during the JD-encore that maybe they were playing too many really old songs, no matter how good those songs are.

I reckon that was Digi Mic.

Barney's quip as he left the stage " Joy Division New Order forever, get that tattooed on yer arse!" Laugh

I have a funny feeling I may have agreed with you before on this, possibly on the old forum. Though my reasons aren't quite the same.
I liked it so much i kept the ticket stub (starting to fade now. boo.) and cut out the review in the Guardian on the Saturday morning that followed.
Not that I really needed to as it's online here.
I remember the "we care" comments, can't say i remember the tattoo comment.

I've also just found a couple of "No" postcards promoting WFTSC filed away with the ticket stub. I wonder if they're worth anything...

Hang on, its coming back to me, I had a lot to drink, it was pissing down, I swear I saw steam coming off the crowd and the pit was very busy. Sounds like almost all the UK indoor gigs I got to then!

Yeah still got my ticket stub too. Thanks for that link to the Guardian review.

The tattoo comment can definitely be heard right there on the bootlegSmile

A great night, from the pre-gig in the Canterbury Arms to the scrum to get on the Tube home. Probably the best of the several Brixton Academy gigs over the years. One of my favourite venues now, along with the Apollo in Manchester. Lots of happy gig memories.
an old monkey...
