This fall, Peter Hook and the Light have been touring behind two of Hook's most prolific releases with New Order, Movement and Power, Corruption & Lies, playing them from start to finish over the course of a two-hour set. Seattle received the same sentimental treatment last night at Neumos, as Hook and Co. kicked off Decibel, the city's 10th-annual electronic music festival. But there was a slight change-up to their regular routine: Moby hopped onstage just after Hook concluded his marathon of a performance, and they combined forces for a riotous encore.

Where Does New Order's 'Power, Corruption & Lies' Rank on Our 100 Best Albums of the Eighties?

Moby and Hook tackled three of New Order's more beloved singles, with the electronic musician taking vocal duties on "New Dawn Fades," "Transmission" and "Ceremony." Hook noted afterward that while Moby's surprise cameo was thoroughly enjoyable, it hadn't exactly gone according to plan: he was intended to take the lead vocals on "Temptation" – the penultimate song of Hook's encore – and booked it offstage instead. Hook reluctantly took the microphone, a position he's still growing into as the lead singer of a new band.

"Moby's a really nice guy, and we toured with him a long time ago," he told Rolling Stone backstage. "It's funny – Billy Corgan was the same [about "Temptation"]. I asked him if he wanted to sing something, and for some reason, people don't want to sing those songs! I'm not a singer by birth, so it's really nice when you get someone who is, because it's lovely to just be able to play [bass]."

Peter Hook and the Light and Moby are joined on the Decibel lineup by Lorde, Zedd, Zola Jesus, Flosstradamus, Little Boots and scores of other electronic acts this weekend in Seattle.
