lyrics to 'this woman's work':
"I should be crying, but I just can't let it show.
I should be hoping, but I can't stop thinking
Of all the things I should've said,
That I never said.
All the things we should've done,
That we never did.
All the things I should've given,
But I didn't.
Oh, darling, make it go,
Make it go away."
yeah, it's a fucking MYSTERY why you find it depressing, johnny.
it's a beautiful, melancholy song. always brings a tear to my eye and a lump to my throat. it's about a woman's life being in danger during childbirth, although i don't think you need to know that to be moved. i bet it's bloody written in d minor, too.
my favourites are wow, and breathing, and the man with the child in his eyes, and hounds of love. wasn't running up that hill the theme tune to a children's tv programme in the 80s?
kate's ace.
my little brother knows the dance to that wuthering heights video, but i've never managed to get him drunk enough to show me. one day, one day...
edit: yes, running up that hill was the theme tune to running scared. as you were.
