I'm bored so wondered what people consider to be the worst NO live performances. can be songs or whole gigs. one of my favourites is when they cock up Love will tear us apart, Gillian has no clue to the synth line at all. the 84 bbc session is quite amusing too.

Where to start?! Many gigs had bad moments but not many complete gigs were awful, they could be crap for 45 mins then pull out a blinder, and tracks could fall apart in the middle of otherwise great shows. Using past tense as for several years now they've been very risk-free and professional, definitely getting better with age.

Epic fails though would include:

Most of the "Oz/NZ 85" show that could be Perth 85,
Stirling 83
Utrecht 82

Most JD covers until 2001

When things went wrong, it was usually because Hooky was on the wrong fret, and played his bit in the wrong key. Often happened in Denial and Chosen Time, even Ceremony occasionally, and there are some spectacular fails on Leave Me Alone ( Glos 84). Vocal adlibs were the norm, missed intros and out of tune guitars. Plus sequencer failures, nearly all the 1982 versions of Hurt crashed mid song and almost all the 586s in 1983 failed to load.

No doubt others will be able to come up with tons more!

Finsbury Park 2002. I got soaked on the way to the venue and then spent hours being freezing cold and wet. Only time i've ever been close to leaving
a New Order gig early.
Dreadful venue and day - plus the gig was pretty shite.

I still bought the 511 DVD of that day though. LoL

I thought it was a great gig. NO sounded great. 25 odd songs played. a cameo from John Simms, Brutal, Digital, Close Range and threats of playing Rock The Shack.

Utrecht 82 was amazing. That version of Hurt goes on and on into some hypnotic freestyle dance jam that would make Giorgio Moroder jealous. Had fun at Finsbury Park 02 too. As I remember the rain stopped the minute NO entered the stage.

Glastonbury 1981 comes to mind. Barney was all fucked up when he hit the stage, literally hit the stage during Procession.

Ha! One of my top 5 NO gigs! Utterly fantastic day, great set list and performance, and the band in great spirits. Isn't it funny how one person's diamond is another's lump of coal?!

Utrecht pretty much summed up most of 1982, some stunning performance and some absolute shockers in the same gig!

Finsbury 02 was an epic occasion, great day out and great gig.

LOLO @Arhem. Twas playing this one recently. Yeah, Hurt is screwed up as if the sequensor ran half arsed and the band said fuck it let's continue. Write up on the bootleg said it was a "great performance." Ear of the beholder.

from the note on the bootleg..."On the 3rd night of the Dutch 1982 tour, the band played in a punk venue where it was so cold they had to wear coats on stage. Nevertheless, this is a fantastic audience recording of a great performance, borrowed yet again from the cornucopia otherwise known as TJ's vault."

You know, i might even say the MEN Arena gig in December 98.Was it called the MEN arena then? Can't remember now but i'd list it as the worst New Order gig just for the fact it was the least memorable New Order gig i ever attended. Can't recall anything memorable about it all. All i do remember is Gillian joining them on stage for the encore.Or have i got that wrong? I just seem to remember her only joining them for the encore. No, she must have been there the whole gig. Maybe i'm getting mixed up with the Apollo first night in Oct 2001.Which was also fairly unmemorable. Why are all their Manchester gigs unmemorable?

From memory, that's the most times i've typed (un)memorable in one post.
