Ha sido revelado el listado con los 100 mejores discos elegidos por la prestigiosa emisora radiofónica BBC Radio 2. El network británico ha invitado sus oyentes a votar entre 100 títulos seleccionados entre los artistas y grupos pop rock mas retrasmitidos.
Para la composición del listado se ha decidido insertar solo un disco por cada band o artista, considerando solo los álbumes de inéditos, sin dejar espacio a recopilatorios y greatest hits.
Y en la tarde de ayer, durante el programa ‘Radio 2 Top 30 Album Chart’, el locutor radiofónico Jo Whiley ha leído la clasificación definitiva, creada gracias a los votos de los miles de seguidores de la BBC que han, evidentemente, expresado la mayor parte de las preferencias hacia artistas procedentes del Reino Unido.
Algo natural, considerando que en la sola Inglaterra han nacido y crecido profesionalmente algunos entre los artistas que más han dado a la historia de la música moderna y contemporánea.
Según el publico de BBC Radio 2, el mejor álbum es ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’ de Coldplay, segundo disco de la band formada por Chris Martin y publicado en 2002, con un éxito de ventas que se calcula sobrepase los 15 millones de copias vendidas en todo el mundo, además de tres Grammy Awards, un Q Awards y un Brit Awards. El álbum ha sido también incluido en algunas de las más prestigiosas charts musicales como en la ’500 greatest albums of all time’ del magazine Rolling Stone, ‘The Definitive 200 Albums of All Time’ de la Rock and Roll Hall of Fame y en la ‘BRITs Album of 30 Years’ de los Brit Awards.
Entre los sencillos más famosos extraídos del disco ‘A Rush Of Blood To The Head’ recordamos ‘In my place’, ‘Clocks’ y ‘The Scientist’. Otras canciones que merece la pena mencionar son, sin duda, ‘God Put a Smile upon Your Face’, ‘Amsterdam’, ‘A Whisper’ y la misma title-track.

Basura, como todas las listas de "los mejores del siglo" o "los más grandes de la historia", etc... Cada uno tiene su propia lista en la cabeza. En mi lista, para allá de Joy Division y New Order, estarían el primer album de Killing Joke, "Remain in Light" (Talking Heads), "London Calling" (The Clash), "Crocodiles" y "Heaven Up Here" (Echo & The Bunnymen) y otros rechazados por BBC. Pero estas tonterías de los periodistas y de la media no me molestan...
