I didn't want to do a "spoiler" beforehand, but The London Standard indeed said on Thursday there would be a second series, now confirmed to be snapped up by ch4.
Couldn't they have just wrapped the thing up a little neater at the end and left it at that? Exactly what are all the "dead" planning on doing?
I felt somewhat validated (or some similar word that I can't think of)that we had a flood scene at the end, as I predicted before watching episode one. I wanted something a little more full-on mind you.
Agree with the Portishead comments. I don't suppose there's enough of a tune there for Portishead to bother suing...

merci.

i thought that was a perfect ending. i do feel everso moved by julie and victor's relationship.

i think the turning point for me was when i stopped trying to work it out and just started enjoying it being beautiful and interesting and intriguing. i can only hope it doesn't go the same way as 'lost', where the writers clearly had no idea what was going on, either.

(i know i keep banging on about twin peaks in relation to the returned, but i was reading this week about how david lynch never wanted to reveal the identity of laura palmer's killer - that for him that wasn't what the series was about - but they had to do it, and in the middle of the second series, because of pressure from the network. even as 16 year old watching it, i knew that was when it fell apart. it's not always the destination that's important, it's the journey. *lights gauloise* *looks engimatic*)

Was that the town, flooded , we see at the end? For some reason my brain couldn't fully process the image . Maybe because I was still pissed but it seemed something less straightforward than that.

Guess it was the town , flooded.

here's a link to sfx's list of unanswered questions:

http://www.sfx.co.uk/2013/07/28...ed-unanswered-questions/

and here's the lovely tv ad for the soundtrack:

(edit: that's gruff rhys doing the voiceover for a scottish band and their french-titled album, in english with a welsh accent, johnny, just to confuse you further.)

Thanks Nora. I get an urge to buy the soundtrack but then i think whenever i've bought soundtracks to things i've watched it's never the same as when you are experiencing the music with what it's soundtracking so dunno on that one for the moment.

Gonna have to watch last night's episode again. It's all a bit blurred.Seemed at the time as if 'La Horde' had let the dam flood the town because they'd not been allowed to take all the returned back.

i really cannot recommend it highly enough. maybe give it a twirl round spotify if you're in two minds. (mine's on vinyl or i'd make you a copy.)

Ah just watched again. Think in my drunken state thought Gruff Rhys ( as it turned out to be, thanks) was talking French in the advert. And there were French subtitles. Is the Portishead rip off one on the soundtrack? I keep expecting the drums to come crashing in like they do on the Portishead song.

La Horde wanted Adele and her baby ( and someone else? can't remember now.Oh, Toni and his bro in the basement) but didn't get them. Would the town still have been flooded had La Horde got all they wanted? Who knows.

The ending was fairly satisfying for me, quite climatic.A few unanswered things but there always is. C'est La Vie.

I might buy that if it wasn't for those unanswered questions on your SFX link. They're good questions!

I just grabbed a listen to the album on Spotify. Not sure really. It's lovely and spellbinding in places but there's actually only a few tracks i recognisedConfused The intro music and the last track to name a couple. As i've found with other soundtracks it's just not the same listening to the music in its own right.Spotify includes the Portishead rip off one which is The Huts - Version which doesn't seem to be listed on the tracklist on Amazon so may not be on your vinyl copy? You just get The Huts ? Don't think i'll buy the album but will prob listen again on Spotify.

New Dr Who will be revealed at 7pm BBC1 on Sunday. Dunno why i'm mentioning it as i'm not that fussed about Dr Who anymore anywayConfused Though i see Peter Capaldi is now in the (rumoured) running. That'd get me watching again over any of the other candidates

The BBC player isn't available to me in my location, watching it last night what struck me is that you never get to
see what their hands are doing behind their desks,
I know that Ralf is playing live keyboards at some stages but not sure what the other three machine workers are doing...

I had something like that problem before in Dublin. I can't remember if it was BBC player or something similar. I was asked for my post code so I gave a UK postcode and...bingo! But maybe that won't work for you, I don't know.

I was also thinking it would be nice to see their hands, and I wondered if we weren't seeing them because it's a bit of a charade.

Does that mean it worked but you don't want to say in case the British television police bust you in Cork? Smile

Johnny Factory(TM), I'm not sure whether to be amused or just scared of you right now. You either have a great imagination that needs to be channeled through something creative (from which you might earn a tidy penny) or you're an unhinged Dr Who obsessive and a dangerous man! Eek

Just watched a thrilling first-round match on University Challenge (UK TV; BBC TWO, 20:00-20:30), followed by an even more thrilling final on Only Connect (UK TV; BBC FOUR, 20:30-21:00). The Francophiles beat the Celts, I'm afraid...

Eh? No that thing imagining Malcolm Tucker as Dr Who was pasted from The Guardian. It wasn't my creation. I just posted it because i thought it was hilarious but then deleted it because that was 2 posts i'd now made regarding Dr Who and it was starting to look like i was a Dr Who fan.Which i am NOT. I didn't even watch the most recent series apart from the first episode
