It interested me too - no idea why, just a couple of songs. I'm not sure 1986's Hooky would've liked being embraced. Crap film though - makes Roger Hargreaves read like Sylvia Plath (sorry, that was disrespectful to Roger Hargreaves). Turmoil yes - 'do I REALLY wanna bonk him?' Teens have it hard, in both senses.
Had a wanking competition. I won hands down.

Listening to NO without the sleeve / vinyl experience etc, I was quite disappointed. Peter Savile is part of the cult (I've been called that).
There was a great review of Mel B's solo ''''''''''LP'''''''''': There are two fabulous things on this album. Sadly, they're both on the cover. (It is a jocular reference to tits, which are popular with many males.)
A lot of NO LPs end on a mellow note - Brotherhood, Technique, even One True Cash-in.

I shall not rise to that. It would be disrespectful to the Other Mel.
New Order's records are like the Spice Girls'. The covers are so awesome you don't mind if the music's crap.

Oh jesus what a pointless load of bollocks. The worse part of it is that once we've all seen whether number one goes to True Faith or Blue Monday (two songs even the band are so bored of they have to play rearranged versions just to keep themselves from nodding off) is that it'll probably inspire another Greatest Hits album. Probably entitled 'You Voted For It So We Gave It To You Now Give Us The Money Then Fuck Right Off Again'.

So cynical! They won't do that because they're too busy working on deluxe box sets of the Factory albums with lots of pointless booklets and re-created gig flyers which they're gona flog at £60-£80 a pop. Innit!

Voting has closed now, so I guess we see the resuts soon. Unless the No 1 is something unexpected, i think the interesting thing will be to see if there are any surprises in the top 20. I quite liked looking at the other lists, perhaps because I'm more of a casual fan of the others. Being on this forum means we are probably more familiar with NO's stuff than most people.

It appears they list the number of votes for each track, which is good. It means it'll be easy to agrregate the votes for tracks listed as different releases (which I wouldn't have done). In other words, I will be tempted to add up the votes for each of these tracks and treat them as one track:

Blue Monday
The Beach
Beach buggy
bm '88
bm '95

bizarre love triangle
bizarre dub triangle

confusion
confused beats
confused instrumental

sub culture
dub vulture

fine time
fine line
MTO

Perfect Kiss
kiss of death
perfect pit

run
run2

state of the nation
shame of the nation

shellshock
shellcock

temptation
temptation 98

Touched by the hand of god
Touched by the hand of dub

true faith
true faith 94
true dub

586
video 586 (hmm, this one might be debatable)

world
price of dub

I really hope so. I’d gladly pay that sort of price range if the product is good.
Demos, outtakes, rarities and video material. Especially if the Movement boxset has that Hurrah’s video footage. Who knows - maybe The Beach Club audio exists. We can but dream.

I think I’d split Video 586 and 586. I’ve always considered them separate. Video 586 is the sprawling soundscape that gave rise to 586 and Blue Monday, IMO.
MTO I’d separate too.

Good idea listing these though. Kind of hope that, when the vote’s cast, the website do something similar.

I don't think I've listened to Brutal since that boxset came out ooh, a good 14 or 15 years ago, but thankfully it hasn't been murdered by a Capital FM Legend so I was feeling a bit of affection for it.

Two hundred years from now New Order will be loved all over the galaxy, for complex and mature , and thoughtful reasons. Robots and people will want to study not just 'Everything is Awesome' from the Lego Movie, but especially the raw reworking of that excellent non- new order track by New Order from 2029, and later that year their 'chemical',' liar',and 'rock the shack' symphonic synth-o- stratos trilogy of something else . The band will be frozen in 2037, thawed out in 2153, and refrozen, and thawed out for a bicentennial concert in 2180.
We're like kestrels

1 Ceremony
2 BLT
3 Temptation
4 TPK
5 AOC
6 True Faith
7 Regret
8 Blue Monday
9 Love Vig
10 Thieves Like Us.

So Blue Monday was lower than I expected and BLT higher. AOC nice and high too. Love Vig inside the top ten. Elegia inside the top 20. I get the impression this was voted for by people who knew their NO.
Mind you, All Day Long joint 34th with Every Little Counts? Surely the former is a better track and should be higher up than 34.
Sub Culture is at 15 (Mr Monkhouse are you reading this?)
Technique doesn't make an appearance until Numbers 16 & 18 (neither of which I voted for despite picking serveral from that album).
WIM at 31 with Dream Attack just below it. Let's be honest Dream Attack is a much better track.

Singularity at 53 appears to be the highest ranked Music Complete track (I gave this a vote). Which perhaps backs up my belief that MC was a good album but not as good as the critical reception may have suggested.
Tutti Frutti at 56 above Guiilty Partner at 57. I would take the latter over the former any day.
Academic down in 87 has Jetstream immediately above it. Academic is sooo much better! Who voted for Jetstream FFS?!

60 miles an hour is at...60!
No.s 99 & 100 both have the same number of votes. Surely they should be joint 99th?
Chemical is at 103. Should be even lower!
Unlearn This Hatred at 111 seems harsh. As is Avalanche at 118.

A look back at BM shows it has 1536 votes.
But if you add on these:
bm 88: 376
beach: 200
bm95: 82
beach buggy: 13
You get a Total of 2207, which would have made BM No.1. Benjamin Disraeli once said "There are lies, damned lies and statistics". I guess it depends on how you want to read the statistics.

BLT got 1854 votes. Add on 69 votes for Bizarre Dub Triangle and you get 1923 Total

Temptation 98's 179 votes added to Temptation's 1845, totals 2033 votes. That would have jumped it up to second behind BM.

TPK got 1739 votes
Plus:
kiss of death 132
perfect pit: 15 votes
Total: 1886 votes

True faith had 1690
but add:
true faith 94: 143
true dub 13 votes
Total : 1846

So the top 10 would be :
1 Blue Monday 2207 votes
2 Temptation 2033 votes
3 Ceremony 1946 votes
4 BLT 1923 votes
5 TPK 1886 votes
6 True Faith 1846 votes
7 AOC 1709
8 Regret 1539
9 Love Vig 1491
10 Thieves 1311

That top two is perhaps more predictable. I don't think the other variations I mentioned in post #58 will make so much of a difference, although I haven't added them up, cause it's late (past midnight) and this post is getting long.

You're right. It should be 'FEWER votes'.
Not the first time Ceremony has topped the list. I'd like to think that tells you how awesome JD's output was, but I suspect it tells you more about how meagre NO's remains. As You Said (OK it was me but see what I etc) it was surprisingly tough to come up with 25 at all.
I guess I'd go along with most of the top 25... But Love Vigilanuses doesn't deserve to be in the Top Ten. It's a good song on a patchy album but hardly their best, and the 'You see' line always grates.
Shellshock's a bit of a Revengey mess, but there's a strong 7"er in there somewhere.
As You Said (see what etc), Perspex, some of these tracks shouldn't really be up at all. The Cuntrol ''''''''''OST'''''''''' just snippets and the Hassie flexie was just fun for the punters. An interesting artefact for collectors, but of no musical value.
I was surprised Vicious Menstrual Cycle was so low - maybe just cos not all the fans had heard it? It only come out on a couple of 45s and has eluded compilation ever since.
It's pretty daft to split songs and mixes. WhoTF puts Perfect Pit on their playlist?
These things are TOTALly (see etc) subjective and no one gives a drunken fuck in a Leeds whorehouse what anyone else thinks. Sun readers (so it must be true) voted Geri 'favurite Spice, for having a great personality - or two of them!' This is another jocular reference to tits, which are popular with the paper's buyers. Unforunately, Geri's triumph was short-lived, as 6 months later they voted her 'most annoying Spice', with no reference to either tit. Fickle!
