Slicing Up Eyeballs are running one of their votes. They’ve already done bands like Depeche Mode, The Cure and R.E.M. and have now turned their attention to New Order. Get voting: http://www.slicingupeyeb...avorite-new-order-songs/

Just in case anyone was interested, here are the 25 I picked (in alphabetic order): 1. 1963 2. 586 3. Age Of Consent 4. Ceremony 5. Crystal 6. Dream Attack 7. Elegia 8. Everything’s Gone Green 9. Here To Stay 10. Hurt 11. In A Lonely Place 12. Leave Me Alone 13. Mr Disco 14. Murder 15. Paradise 16. Procession 17. Regret 18. Singularity 19. Sunrise 20. Temptation 21. The Perfect Kiss 22. Thieves Like Us 23. This Time Of Night 24. True Faith 25. Vanishing Point It pained me to have to miss out tracks like chosen Time, Dreams Never End, Mesh, Cries & Whispers, Restless, Guilt Is A Useless Emotion, Someone Like You, Primitive Notion, Your Silent Face, Ecstasy plus probably quite a few others. But you’re limited to just 25. Quite good fun. Edited by user 07 November 2017 15:43:59(UTC)

I love a pointless list. Here's mine.
1963 Academic As It Is When It Was BLT Blue Monday Ceremony Dream Attack Elegia Face Up Guilty Partner Nothing But A Fool Plastic Primitive Notion Round & Round Shellshock Special Temptation TPK The Village Thieves Like Us This Time of Night True Faith Vanishing Point Way Of Life World
It seems wrong to leave out Love Vigilantes, Age of Consent, Run, Everything's Gone Green and All Day Long, plus about 25 others. |

Nice choices.
I’ll be absolutely shocked if, when the final results are in, the top 3 aren’t Ceremony, Temptation and TPK, in no particular order. I’m guessing Blue Monday, True Faith, BLT and Regret will also help to fill out the top ten. I really can’t predict what other tracks would make the top ten.
Looking through your list, I’m kind of disgusted in myself that I left out Shellshock and Blue Monday. There’s just too many brilliant songs. Far more than 25.

This has been a wonderful distraction from all the papers I need to be writing. Once I got my first fifteen picks, though, the selection process started to get a bit tricky. After I got through my major favorites, it took a lot more deliberation.
Anyway, I wound up with the following twenty-five:
586 Age of Consent All Day Long Angel Dust Bizarre Love Triangle Ceremony Chosen Time Dream Attack Dreams Never End Elegia Leave Me Alone Lonesome Tonight Paradise Procession Senses Sunrise Temptation The Him The Perfect Kiss The Village Thieves Like Us This Time of Night Vanishing Point Waiting for the Sirens' Call Your Silent Face
There are, of course, many other songs I wish could fit on this list.
Ultimately, this was a fun, little activity. Thanks for pointing us toward the poll, Perspexorange.

No problem. :-) I hope others join in; will be nice to see what the consensus of opinion is amongst as many fans as possible.
Again, great choices. I really should’ve included Chosen Time on my list too.
Been having a think about what other tracks I think will make it into the top ten when the results come in. As well as the seven I mentioned above (Ceremony, Temptation, TPK, BM, TF, BLT & Regret), I’m gonna go with Thieves Like Us and 1963. The last one is even more tricky. Crystal, perhaps.
I’m hoping that my personal favourite, Dream Attack, gets a good showing.

Hmm...how to approach this? I mean, just due to omnipresence it wouldn't bug me if I never heard a track like Blue Monday again but pretty sure I can't leave it off a top 25 list. Has to come in at #1 surely?

I think it kind of depends on who the majority of voters are.
If it's mostly casual fans (i.e. those that only really know, say, 10-20 tracks) voting, Blue Monday will probably come in at number 1.
If there are a large number of keen fans (like us) voting, I'd say it'll be a little further down the order (pardon the pun), being behind the likes of Temptation, TPK and Ceremony. If you look at the four of us who have shared our votes here, it'a a 50:50 split on including BM or not. Yet all four of us have voted for the above three tracks.
I'd be surprised if BM figures lower than number 5 either way. SlicingUpEyeballs is a fairly dedicated website, so we should expect a reasonably high turnout of NO fans. I hope so - I think it will be far more interesting if this is the case. I'd hate to think of the votes being, on the whole, cast by people who only know BM, TF, BLT, Regret, WIM & Crystal, and thereby only vote for these tracks (you don't have to vote for as many as 25 songs).

Blue Monnday wasn't in my top 25 picks. There were a number of album cuts, like This Time Of Night, Vanishing point, and Special.

I have to stop talking about the Spice Girls. Just stop right now, thank you very much. I'm sick to death of Blue Monday but I can't argue it's technically 'bad'. If I could take a time machine and go back to 1989 to tell my younger self I'd still rate 'Round and Round' in 2017, he'd be very surprised. Because he just saw a fucking time machine.

I missed Round & Round and Fine Time off my list, just simply because I had Mr Disco, Vanishing Point & Dream Attack on there and didn’t want a Technique overload. I could, very easily, have included all 9 tracks from that LP on my list though. 😀
Blue Monday is possibly the most influential track of the 80s and I truly love it. But, I agree, I’ve heard it a little too often.

Think I was the last person who agreed with you, also, Michael. A very worrying turn of events.
‘Excessive padding’?.. Sacrilege. I couldn’t disagree more. See, there we go... the balance is redressed. All is now right in the world. 😀

I'm actually amazed NewOrder have only written 157 songs in what 37 years?
That's about 4 songs a year.
Pretty sure I could knock out a song every three months or so and hold down my day job.....

I think Guilty Partner and Fine Time were the only Technique tracks that didn't make my list. Blue Monday probably deserved my vote but I figured it would get more than enough votes from others.

Phew that was difficult when you see them all written down. I had no tracks from GR and Movement. Shows that although GR is a good solid album lacks the classics ( apart Crystal but that never made my list either) WFTSC although a patchy album gets 2 entries. Could have put all of PC&L and Technique, but didn’t. Leave me alone Your silent face Age of consent Face up Perfect kiss Broken promise BLT World singularity Restless WFTSC Turn Academic Mr disco VAnishing point All the way Dream attack Cries and whispers Lonesome tonight Thieves like us Temptation Blue Monday EGG Ceremony Weirdo Edited by user 16 November 2017 09:30:12(UTC)
