This is NOT the same account as your main NewOrderOnline account so you actually need to register again, validate your account via email, etc. You can still access the old forums via http://www.newoderonline.com/forumsEventually those will be read only once I figure which version of the code is the more recent one. I might actually just trim down current NOOL to remove gimmicks and keep it simple. So far I like these forums, can't beat custom made to be able to do all you want, but in the long run, this will allow easier work for moderators and that's all that matters. Nic, I would recommend you close the old forums down pretty much immediately otherwise people will keep using them until the very last second the plug is pulled. Familiarity, fear of change, general laziness and all that. We should really make the clean break and get everyone on here ASAP even if it is a bit "under construction". It seems the passport tossers have already made it onto here already which is infuriating Can we beef up the registration process with an easy New Order question? If you type the names of the spammers, and keywords such as 'fake passports' etc into Google, then other forums (that are not New Order related) appear ... it's obviously not some NOOL member doing it. There seems to be other forums online that these spammers spam on. So it's not just these forums. Edited by user 30 April 2012 03:45:45(UTC)

I don't think it has this flexibility, but I will check what I can do. Worst case I can enable the moderate post for new users. As for closing the other one, I think I'll make them read only this week, change is hard for some people obviously, but they have no idea how much easier it will make the job of people trying to moderate this thing.

Ive finally been able to register and log into this site. It was my 3rd attempt and I still managed to enter the wrong user name or display name.
why make it so flipping complicated?
now im in, the flipping polls have closed. wonderful!!!
and the superior original site is now read only. superb!!!
i know im only one of the annoying little people but it seems the annoyed little people have been detered from this site (judging from number of posts and votes cast on polls).
cant we go back to as it is when it was?

Welllll... i suppose in a way it's good the old forum is now read only, means i don't have to choose between the two. You'll never beat the old forum's total uniqueness though.
Just wish this new forum would make up its mind whether if it wants to remember my log in. Some days it does remember then the next day it hasn't and i have to log in again even though i've ticked 'remember me'.
This forum does seem a lot quicker on my phone than the old one though, i'll give it that.

We'll get used to it, and people will find their way here I'm sure. I didn't like the last time NOOL changed its appearance, now I can't actually remember what it looked like before |

johnny wrote:The old forum is now read only ? Well everything was split up,so better close the old one and make them read only until I find a way to customize those enough so they look like the old ones since it's what people enjoyed. It's not perfect, but now we have plenty of people with power to react in case of a spammer attack.. which is really the biggest motivation for this change.

Due to the lack of a bow or thumbs up smilley, I'll settle for a big grin one. |
