Really? Confused Hooky sang those songs really well and better than the classic New Order lineup? I find that hard to believe, even though I acknowledge he's a talented bassist.

Maybe because he sings them without whoops and come-on's?

But his voice is in a different range. And Bernard doesn't sing all songs like that. Plus, I've read on FB by some hardcore New Order fans and NOOLers (or maybe former NOOLers) that the singing was not that great on quite a few tracks. Just ask NotAMod or Colin or Nick King. I'm not saying it can't be an enjoyable experience to those interested, but let's be realistic. I'm not saying Bernard's perfect, either, btw.

Doesn't matter what anyone says though - he wasn't the original singer of the songs. I have no doubt Frank Sinatra would sing ever fallen in love better than Pete Shelley, however its not the real deal is it

He sang Dreams Never End and Doubt Even Here though.

In fairness, however, he murdered the former last night. He used to proper let rip and 'shout' that one out - last night he just seemed to 'talk' the lyrics. Wasn't what I'd expected.

Interesting as you'd expect DNE and Doubts... to be the obvious ones he'd find esay. Actually I always thought he sounded off doing DNE on Academy though!

Bernard's early live perfomances were so bad as Hooky's!

Difference being - they were Bernards lyrics

Not all m8!

Some are Hooky's and Steve's. But just a few of them.

Nice comment Al.

Even Dreams Never End was awful.

I love the Hookster but I only rate him as a bassist, not a singer or a lyricist. I believe the only album where he took MAJOR lyrical duties was One True Passion, which (sorry to repeat myself) remains my least favourite thing to come out of the NO camp. Gun World Porn was fine but it was practically Monaco by then, in fact (repeating again!) Under The Stars was originally Revenge's Born To Kill and the Monaco website freebie Microbes came out under the Revenge tag in OTP 0.2. I'M SO FUCKING KNOWLEDGEABLE AIN'T I? It's what happens when you don't fuck for many years, you find yourself with a lot of time (and other stuff) on your hands.
