Why are the full length versions of WFTSC from the cd single so hard to find?

I mean, they can't be downloaded from any legit site and the single itself sells for way to much?

I think they released some crazy 1 track instrumental that year too.

It's one thing when old 12" tracks don't get rereleased, but we're talking the modern era.

Sorry, just had to vent.

You're not the only one who found it infuriating. I thought it was a shite idea sticking half the mixes on 7" records and the rest on ludicrously expensive Warner Bros. promotional CDs which are pretty much unobtainable now unless you're very lucky on Ebay (and loaded). I believe this is a complete list of all the (official) mixes from the single:

Quote:
1. Waiting For The Sirens' Call (Rich Costey Radio Edit) 3:53
2. Temptation (Secret Machines Remix Edit) 4:38
3. Waiting For The Sirens' Call (Band Mix) 3:54
4. Everything's Gone Green (Cicada Remix) 4:34
5. Waiting For The Sirens' Call (Jacknife Lee Remix Edit) 4:12
6. Bizarre Love Triangle (Richard X Remix Edit) 4:19
7. Waiting For The Sirens' Call (Rich Costey Mix) 5:40
8. Temptation (Secret Machines Remix) 7:22
9. Waiting For The Sirens' Call (Rich Costey Instrumental) 5:38
10. Everything's Gone Green (Mobilegazer Remix) 4:53
11. Waiting For The Sirens' Call (Jacknife Lee Remix) 6:11
12. Bizarre Love Triangle (Richard X Remix) 7:06
13. Waiting For The Sirens' Call (Planet Funk Remix) 7:28
14. Waiting For The Sirens' Call (Planet Funk Dub) 8:13

Not counting the Tribute Mix which was technically intended for the abandoned "Turn" single.

Funnily enough fits on a 80 minute CD-R perfectly.

Quite a good one, surprising it wasn't released.

That's the one, it was labelled as Mobilegazer on certain promos - one of my favourites.

They could compile what I've listed above, chuck it on junodownload.com, charge 14 quid for the lot (lossless) and make some money instead of allowing fans to be ripped off on Ebay.

I wished they could have included some of these rare remixes as a bonus disc to Lost Sirens, instead of an LP of the same songs.

Anyway, after the Krafty and Jetstream releases, 2005-2006 has been a nightmare era to get New Order stuff on CD.
Remember WFTSC, Guilt, 12*12" and Turn that we are still waiting.

Or, offer a Deluxe version Lost Sirens with these mixes an additional disc. Whatever the case, these unreleased mixes should have a proper commercial release, unless Deluxe versions are scheduled for GR & WFTSC.

The deluxe option is required mainly because the mastering on the original WFTSC release is appalling and distorted to buggery.

I suggested on the old forum a couple of times, the band/record label should do the following:

Disc 1: WFTSC album remastered in the same manner as "Total" which got the sound perfect,
Disc 2: Lost Sirens + the "Control" full version instrumentals - Hooky also proposed this concept,
Disc 3: Best of the WFTSC era remixes, including choice unreleased ones (Guilt etc.)

Make the first two disc version the "standard" and release 1500 "limited edition" copies of the three disc version.

Offer all three discs online in lossless and as many compressed formats as possible so the digital market is satisfied.

Invert the artwork, slap "deluxe edition" on it and bingo, you have a fan pleaser.

Hi All

Did many of you buy the seven inch WFTSC singles and get that cover thing? Bought a cheap record player just to hear them, got them twice, not for a completist thing just error on my part so 1 set is un-played.

Record player packed up ages ago but still in front room, turntable cheap and interactive toy for cat Smile

Have you got all these then, Not A Mod?

The band seem to have an ambivalent approach to these things. They've always been happy to have loads of different mixes of their tracks but they don't seem too bothered as to how easily the fans can get hold of them. I suspect they see most of these mixes as promotional tools. But yeah, they (or should I say Warners) could promote their stuff better by actually using these promotional tools to their full effect.

A Rare mixes cd would be a perfect compliment to the Lost Sirens.

However, I'd put money down that "Lost Sirens" will be released with a bonus disc of...... Greatest Hits! complete with a new remix of Blue Monday.

Sorry to sound so negative. The bonus disc YOU created would be perfect for fans of the band.

Will

It's always being a tradition, as we all know and accept that New Order (any guise, so no debating that here)from the start always had a habit of different pressings / sleeves being available (e.g. Procession & Confusion), just look at the back catalogue and all those matrixes. So for Warners and after the very lacklustre sales of Total, then maybe their attitude is we ain't gonna do various releases in any quantity as 1) how many, 2) will they sell that quantity, 3) why should we and 4) at what production cost /retail cost.

Then there's the download market and more illegal copies.

O.K. the flip side is Warners are more than loving the ongoing tussle as it's sure to generate additional interest and if as and when Lost Sirens is released and if in limited edition formats they surely will sell really well, but then................

............annoys the hell out of me with ebay that those in the know do get the promos' (Hellbent prime example,) and can then flog them on without recourse. Same as the ticket touts.

Like most of you, I too, await those promo / unreleased tracks to be formally released so we can hear and comment upon them.

Rant over, bad day at work.

slow down.

radio people and pr people always get the promos,
that's what they are for.

anybody can check on ebay for promo's, not just a few people.

and if you wait a little bit. most promo's end up being very cheap,
even those you mention.

unless you want them before anyone,
tnen yeah, you'll pay a lot.

i always wait, and get them for cheap prices.

Bought two sets at the time and also received one of the limited edition binders.

I bought the extra set of 7 inches hoping their value would go up.

Unfortunately not, 7 years later and they're still worth bugger all.

The binder too, you'd be lucky to get 10 quid for the lot on Ebay.

To be honest, that's only half-right.

The WFTSC promos never really came down in value and their availability even on Ebay has dried up.

I once saw a 2 track Planet Funk CD-R go for £92 because they've become that rare.

Not all promos fall in value especially if they were pressed in limited quantities in the first place.

^^^^ What ally said!

The planet funk, Asle (dk) and Jetsream (dk) cdr promos are nigh on impossible to find these days.

The US Morel reference cd promos still fetch £100+ a piece too.
