Received an email via Spotify today for an alternative Substance T-shirt design - think I prefer the original black version

https://store.neworder.com/gb/ne...9_CONFIG.html?ref=direct

A message from New Order:
To celebrate our recent remastered collection of 'Substance 1987' we are giving our top fans the opportunity to get an exclusive limited edition t-shirt, featuring the iconic Peter Saville design.

A limited quantity is available for this offer - until January 29, 2024 at 4:59 PM GMT or while supplies last - so act quickly!

I agree, it's a bit peculiar.

It might be worthwhile as a collector's item, though. I can't see many people springing for it as it costs even more than the CALM charity Blue Monday T. Who gets all the money? Spotify?

Fun fact: This is the artwork for Peter Gabriel's 1986 single Big Time, designed by Brett Wickens and Peter Saville.

Big Time

And this is the PSA artwork for The Dream Academy's The Love Parade released in 1985.

Love Parade

PCL -> Dream Academy -> Peter Gabriel -> Substance. Maybe?

Something I may have mentioned elsewhere:
Peter Saville designed the artwork for Brian Eno & David Byrne's 1981 album, My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts.
Track 3 on the album, Regiment was sampled on NO's Angel Dust.

Incidentally, Eno & Byrne in turn sampled the middle eastern vocals from this Danya Yunis track (and maybe NO went back to this source after hearing Eno?). In 1987, the song (pitched up) was famously sampled in MARRS' Pump Up The Volume.

Weirdly that's never been added to WhoSampled.com
https://www.whosampled.com/Brian-Eno/Regiment/

I had no idea

There seems to be a new t-shirt offered every month at the moment.

Not begrudging the Blue Monday one - which is for a good cause - but I've sort of tuned out of the merchandising at the moment.

Has anyone noticed the glossy Substance reissue posters selling for £75 a piece on eBay? Madness. It's a reissue poster ferchristssake.

thats not a bad price, considering how much the original ones go for,
which are hundreds of dollars.

although looking through the history, most are averaging half that price,
and now the expensive ones remain. they were going for $20-$40.
