"White Light Film Productions has produced a new music series, Record On which launches on Sky Arts on Saturday 11 November.
The major three-part music documentary series explores the context of the times around the making of ground-breaking albums by some of the world’s most prominent artists.
The series kicks off with Record On: Paul Weller – Wild Wood on 11 November, followed by New Order – Power Corruption & Lies on 18 November. The third is to be announced in early 2024."

Was there any new material in this, didnt spot anything.
Always amusing to hear Steve talk about the little 8 armed drummer in the drum machine though.

Many thanks! Really appreciate it.
Good little documentary. Really nice to hear Michael Johnson get interviewed.
On a side note, I know I’ve said it before but it really irks me to hear Bernard say that he’s vehemently against ‘looking to the past’ and is always pushing forward. Seems ridiculous, when you consider that they have written and released only 12 songs in the last 18 years.
I’d say that, apart, from Music Complete (8 years ago) and the MiF gigs (6 years ago), everything else they’ve done as a band in almost two decades has been ‘looking back’. Be it re-releasing remasters of old LPs or touring the world whilst playing their greatest hits.
Now I’m certainly not against the band doing this; I just get annoyed with Bernard when he continually says ‘we never look back’. His definition of looking back must be very different to mine.

The bit about them never getting the stolen gear back isn't true though, is it?
I'm sure they got it back, but on a subsequent trip when they were able to return and identify it at the NYPD compound. Maybe I imagined that.

I think you're right. I was watching it with my wife last night and said the same thing to her. Hooky mentioned that they retrieved the van and Bernard's skis back but nothing else. But then, I think it was Steve who said most of the stuff turned up a few moths/years later and they had to go to a lock-up to reclaim it. Or something like that. Bernard also mentioned that the equipment got stolen at the end of the tour, but I think it was right at the start and they had to hire/buy new equipment.

Doc seems to confirm Sumner as the main writer in New Order for this album and others, with the others playing more minor roles.

If I say: "there's probably a new Monaco album on the way", it'd be great if you could confirm that too! I've written to Santa so, Y'know...

Having heard, read and seen this story a thousand times and more, I was surprised at just how riveted I was throughout the 90+ minutes. It was a real treat to step back down memory lane, and dammit, that Peter Hook bloke sounded, particularly with his emotional "tosser" outro, just like my one-time-hero Hooky. It was just nice to see all four of them interviewed and focussed on such an important subject.
Most interviews you see are usually much more 'general' and/or only involve one or two of them.

A downside to the band not doing much new is I come here less frequently and I missed this download.
Any chance someone can upload again? Sounds like a cool series.

It does seem Arthur Baker is taking more credit for Confusion and Thieves Like Us these days - the documentary video they did around Republic had him saying something like 'you just stick them in a room and somehow they come out with this great song.' I'll have to dig out the DVD and rewatch.

The New York Demo they did with him, is barely even a sketch of what the band finally released
