Oh, and talking of the TOTP performance, there'll probably be some mention of the fact that the wrong disc was loaded, resulting in the wrong sample being played (and Steve and Bernard laughing).

Joking aside, I do love that performance. It sums up everything that I adore about the band.
To paraphrase the words of Hacker T. Dog, they're 'just normal men'.

BTW, did we ever get to the bottom of this image?
Why Bernard is wearing a different outfit than the broadcast version?

UserPostedImage

I'm guessing they did a second take, but why did Bernard feel a complete outfit change was necessary?

Perhaps he felt that he couldn't 'rock the double-denim look' and hoped the producer would go with the second take?

Horrendous Pernod & Orange regurgitation moment, possibly?

Johnny James - does an alternate take exist in Auntie Beeb's archive? If so, is there any clue as to what happened?

Well he refused to say whether another New Order album was on the way but he did mention they had been in a studio at some point last year and didn't want to confirm anything until they at least had a single to put out which is a start.

Good little interview. I don't expect a new album anytime soon but an EP would be nice.

Re that TOTP photo, perspex.I noticed the different clothing some yeatr ago, yes. Prob a rehearsal run through. Doubt we'll ever see a clip of it if one even exists.

Well I did learn something new: Gillian's hamster was female. Stephen learned that today too.
Some sort of new music coming at some point. Well at least they're still saying that rather than: nah we've stopped.

PS I notice 6Music played Bloodbuzz Ohio by The National a few minutes later. Love that track but surely they should have played current track, New Order T-shirt...

I like those GIFs, Debaser.

I guess one other BM Bingo that if you'd gone for it you would have Bingoed would have been the "We wanted to do a song that we could leave running at the end"

Yep - we definitely missed a trick there.

Great little interview. Both of them in good form.

As I've said in a 'Blue Monday' thread I've just started, the programme I normally use to download BBC Sounds/iPlayer won't download this.
So I had to use a shitty Chrome extension to screen grab it, hence the fairly awful recording.
If anyone can rip a better version, please can you let me have a copy.

BBC Sounds copy of the interview is here, around the 1h26m mark:

Andy, Perspexorange gave a pretty good explanation on embedding YT clips here. I think it might work for you too.

I just watched a couple of minutes of that Bill Mahar show because Brand is trending on twitter (!). Where Russell Brand says there's too much money and corruption in politics I think: fair enough.
But then he says: MSNBC is equivalent to Fox News. So John Heilemann asks him to give one example of an MSNBC host saying something they don’t believe. Brand refers to the effectiveness of Ivermectin. Oh dear, oh dear...

No comments from anyone about what they thought of Nation of Language. Gonna try and embed the new song they released today in the hopes there's some appreciation for this excellect group:

So, with some experimentation, I learned that I had to click the BB button, not the Create Link button. Also, I had to copy the YouTube url address in my browser, not the url in the window that comes up when I choose "share". I guess this is normal.

If you leave a blank line between your text and your YouTube embed, then it won't have that wonky donky look that it currently has.

In other news. If anyone in UK/Ireland managed to force themselves to watch MOTD2 last Sunday night, they would have heard this in the intro section to....that game.

Litmus - Atmosphere

I shazamed it so I'm pretty sure it was this version.

^ here it is. I've also posted it in the live section for SXSW.

Jump to the 3hr mark for an intro by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Manchester who apparently isn't in Manchester.
I haven't watched yet, but the first question at 3hrs,8mins starts with a "first time I heard NO" comment from the interviewer. He was breakdancing, so you might expect it to be Confusion. But nope...

Haven’t completely finished watching this yet (20mins in), but what a fab interview!
Very relaxed, interesting and all members in good form.

Steve is, as always, a joy!

Edit:
Finished. Excellent interview. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Listed as a show that celebrates Blue Monday's 40th anniversary, this is more a celebration of a whole bunch of NO singles from the 80s.
Starts at 13:49 with LWTUA, then there's a "Mastermix" straight after (these were called Megamixes back in the 80s I believe). Featuring:

Touched By The Hand Of God
True Faith
Bizarre Love Triangle (6 Music Live at Maida Vale 2015)
Shellshock
Fine Time
Sub-Culture
Temptation
Round & Round
BM

Finishes at 30:22
Link in tweet, or click this.

There is another show in a couple of days: The Story of the 12” Single with Jo Whiley. I think it's a BBC Sounds Podcast rather than a broadcast show. I'll mention it in the BM 40 thread.

^ That Mastermix i'm pretty sure is a repeat. It was first on a couple of years back.I clicked on out of interest because it's in the tracklist that it includes the 2015 6Music Maida Vale live version of BLT.That wasn't in this Mastermix when it was orginally aired and I was curious to listen to how it was tweeked and mixed in. Except, it turned out it's not the Maida Vale live version, it's the original Pettibone 12" .

Found some time today to watch this.Good stuff and they're in good form though i wonder sometimes why Bernard does that kind of big of intake of breath thing between or during sentences sometimes, have notice him do that a lot over the last few years in interviews, wonder what's going on there. But yeah, Steve funny as always. He makes a good point re Blue Monday losing money because of the holes in the sleeves and pointing out that Saville put holes in OMD's album sleeves but you don't ever hear about them losing money over it.And even PCL had holes in the back of the sleeve.Did they lose money on that too? Or did the price of albums swallow any losses? Good to hear the band still enjoy every show and still aren't bored of playing BM, every show is fun and it's 50% band and 50% the reaction from the audience at gigs.Every gig is worth it and fun because of the audience.I remember at the Brixton Academy gig May 2012 I was jumping around like an idiot down the front then looked up and Bernard seemed to be looking right at me, and it was like he was taking in processing and seeing what the music meant to an ordinary Joe.

Well i made it to the end of The Gold, finally. It didn't half drag on, that series. Atmosphere in the closing scenes. But why? I don't get . It soundtracked men being sentenced to prison, yet the use of the song seemed to imply we ahould be holding them up as heroes. So Kenneth Noye is a hero is he? This is a guy that committed a road rage murder of an innocent young guy back in the mid 90s.
