I'm as in the dark as anyone else, but I had a vague feeling this announcement was coming sooner or later. There's been talk of new Other Two - Bad Lieutenant - Stuart Price stuff... But NO was always going to be a safer bet. We'll see! Exciting news, but best not hold our collective breaths!

I was thinking of the same thing, I think that they already have stuff that they were working on before the whole tour started with BL and The Other two, so now they just have to polish this stuff into sounding like NO and lets hope it goes well. |

Great news Sounds like they are more into the electronic sound at the moment, a change from the last 2 more rock-orientated albums

Id say this new material will be out pretty quickly. I remember steve saying something about how new material should be put out quickly and as well as that its not economically viable to piss about in the studio when it'll be released for free on the file sharing sites.
Probably the one thing i agree with hooky on (post him leaving the band) was that the time and the money (quarter of a million and two years) spent on wftsc was a scandal and is this day and age you get your songs out and gig to earn your living.

And I don't know how long it took to create and release the Bad Lieutenant album, but that probably didn't cost as much as WFTSC to make, which shows that it's possible to create an album without spending a lot of money in a major studio and using many producers.

Well if they'll use the material they already have from BL and The Other Two sessions, it could be out very quickly.

I think releasing a Bad Lieutenant album or an Other Two album at this stage of New Order's current profile would be pretty pointless. I say that as someone fond of both BL & TOT's previous output. But for now all members (bar Jake Evans) of those two bands are in "the more famous" band with far more sales potential. So like Jul says I'd rather they just creatively combine what they've got where they can and slap New Order's name - or New Order Now - on it. Releasing an Bernard Sumner solo album (or BL) and an Other Two album THEN sitting down to write something new from scratch would be creating so much work for themselves, and New Order typically take 3 years minimum to write new material from scratch. I genuinely don't think we'd ever see new NO material if they decide to invest all their song-writing in side projects for another year. I liked what Steve said in interview a while back regarding TOT, little EPs here or there are the way to go. It means new material sooner and typically has less filler because the band concentrate on 3 or 4 really good ideas rather than trying to generate three times that for an LP where invariably the quality starts dipping here and there. Plus it uses less cash which seems crucial in today's recording climate. Edited by user 18 September 2012 08:34:25(UTC)

If you remember before the NO tour started last year they were already working on a new BL album , remember this instagram picture on FB they posted. http://instagram.com/p/C1gN3/?ref=nfSo guessing they already have ideas and stuff written down, so I guess they will go forth from that. It would be a safe bet that some of BL's material would have been released by new order had hooky stayed about so id say a lot of material was already to hand before they started recording proper. From what i gather steve has a studio at his home which will reduce the costs of going to real world or windmill in dublin unless of course the label pays and then it could be delayed a lot longer. Even so a lot of the material will be done on cubase before it goes to the studio so that will save time, the technology on these daw's has improved dramatically since wftsc so its possible to get studio quality from home and work as long as you feel you need to. wishful thinking im sure from certain people. I dont think they'll piss about in the studio because if they are working on new material it will mean they wont be gigging as (from personal experience) its hard to reherse and redo songs for gigs while writing and recording at the same time. The demand is there for gigs as we've seen and for new material as we've said and the band would be thinking that these gigs are going well that its a good thing to keep on with it especially when they are enjoying it. Im sure certain people would be irritated at new material and we will be in line to denigrate as soon as it hits the shops but nothing you can do about that i suppose.

"delayed" as in "court case"? How long do those things tend to last?

Jul wrote:Part hypotetical part adressed to anyone who might know really. Im sure "someone" on this forum could answer you. I dont think the court case will delay the writing or recording process and if it ever came to the point where a certain someone was blocking new material unrelated to him it would be very very sad indeed.

I actually quite liked the Calvin/Rhianna "We Found Love" collab, in a Guilty Pleasures sort of way. But the idea of Calvin working on a NO album...well I think they should do their own separate things.
