An advert almost as depressing as the Qatar world cup will probably be. Orchestral version of LWTUA. I don't think it's the "String Quartet tribute to..." from 2003, but I could be wrong.

^ I saw that advert earlier today and thought the music was vaguely an orchestral LWTUA but wasn't certain. What, so the love of football and the World Cup will tear friends and families apart?

What a strange advert.
It’s almost like they’re trying to say ‘don’t watch it’.

Mixmag have decided to re-up an article from 2018 where they turned your "favourite" album artwork into football shirts (-world cup, natch). Kid A, Dubnobasswithmyheadman and PCL all look pretty decent. I really like the back of the PCL effort. Qwest records on the front though? Hmm, a Factory logo was crying out for that spot! https://mixmag.net/featu...nLC896_BRG-eXqRA5tNtjATs

Your film is set in the 1980's? Which circa 1983 New Order track will you turn to for setting the mood? Not the one you expect: Bones and All review

^ God yeah, 30 years since Factory went bust. I remember learning of the news through a very brief mention by Terry Christian on The Word, Channel 4 one Friday evening and thinking is that it? Just a brief mention? Good to see Section 25 ' Looking From A Hilltop' in that list but Marcel King ' Reach For Love' should have been in.And where is Cath Carroll ' Moves Like You' ? Another fan working in the BBC?
It’s like the 80s all over again.
Good stuff (although I’ll give both series a miss).

Mayflies? From that trailer it looks like it's based on the book of the same name by Andrew O'Hagan. I read it a couple of years ago. It's the fictional version of the author's true story of him and his friends going to the Festival Of The 10th Summer at G-Mex in July 1986, how it was a pivotal point in their lives and how 30 years later life events and a tragedy pull the friends back together .I posted about the book in this thread i think because it features the G-Mex 86 event. So, yep i"ll definitely be watching !! Edited by user 18 December 2022 23:43:26(UTC)

Great acting but rather sad and it's not exactly the happiest story you'll watch right now, put it that way. The series was a little different from the book as these things often are. The Festival Of The 10th Summer at G-Mex is changed to a small gig called Transmission in a club in a short scene and actors portray New Order performing Ceremony but it's quite brief. The writer of the book, Andrew O'Hagan actually appears, playing the part of a father taking his daughter down the aisle in a wedding scene which very nicely is soundtracked by Cocteau Twins' Pearly Dewdrops Drops

Suicide: Dream Baby Dream Some Sparks, Patrick Cowley, Terry Riley, Phillip Glass, Bowie, Eno? Los Ninos del Parque by Lliaisons Dangereuses (a great dance track that still gets played by 'cool' DJs) Some Heaven 17/BEF perhaps? Kraftwerk's The Model or Tour de France. Something form Laurie Spiegel's Expanding Universe album that came out in 1980? Stephen's mentioned her before. Potentially off topic, but this is my fave track from that Laurie Spiegel album: Patchwork.
