Tonight at 8

Mr hook doing it unfortunately though....

Saying that i won't be able to read along with his tweets making out he's the genius behind it,plus the odd snide attack as he banned me for a joke i made about his book cover!

Caught it today on the replay.Rarely play the album now but i enjoyed particularly hearing again Way Of Life, All Day Long and Every Little Counts.Brought back to mind that 1986-87 era.Thing with Brotherhood for me was i didn't take to it in a massive immediate way like i had with Low Life the year before.Obviously BLT stood out from the start as a stone cold classic but the rest took me a while back then.

That was fairly enjoyable. He didn't sound too bitter for a change although yet again Gillian may as well have not existed.

Excuse my ignorance, and inherent laziness, but where does one find this?

1) Click on the Hooky tweet I embedded above (which no one thanked me for). That should open up Hooky's tweets in a new tab, and just look through them.
or
2) as per the link in the bio for the Listening Party twitter account, go to the Listening Party website and visit the Replay section Here and click on Brotherhood.

Paradise, weirdo, as it is when it was, broken promise what a run of tunes they are, some of new orders finest more guitary moments. Never get bored. I still like way of life which round off the A side just not quite up there the the 4 proceeding ones.

Just reminded me, wasn't there a radio documentary a few years back about the album? Was it on 6Music ? Can't imagine what other station it could have been on.Or was it an XFM thing? I remember commenting on here about it and one of the producers of the programme came on here and answered my comment or question. Anyone remember that radio doc? Would have been around ...ooh... sometime anywhere between 2012 - 2014?

Edit: or was it on Absolute Radio?

I gave the above a listen today, and then decided I wanted to give Angel Dust a full play.
So I found this, a 12" version of Angel Dust. It's been sitting on YouTube since 2016 (YT channel called "Unreleased Versions"). I don't think I've ever heard this before. It didn't come out with the '09 Brotherhood reissue AFAIK, so where did it leak from?

New Order - Angel Dust (12 Inch Version)

Listening with fresh ears, the guitar is very "State Of The Nation" isn't it? Bernard doesn't speak too highly of the track in the above program, but I'm enjoying this extended version.

It features some middle eastern vocals in there, of course. This version more so than the album version. "Where are they from?", I used to wonder. I believe they're from this Lebanese singer. From around 0:44 to 1:06 below (for the bit around 0.10 to 0:31 in Angel Dust above). Also the bit from around 0:47 above is I think at about 2:05 onwards in the video below. Also the bit at the very end of Angel Dust is at 2:56 below.

Dunya Yunis - Abu Zeluf

This sample was also used by David Byrne & Brian Eno on a track called Regiment, the B-side to their 1981 single The Jezebel Spirit. Sleeve design by Eno and some bloke called Peter Saville(!).

The A & B-side of that single appeared on their album My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts. On the same album another track, The Carrrier samples a dfferent part of this Dunya Yunis piece. The album credits sleeve typography to... that Peter Saville bloke.

Brian Eno & David Byrne - Regiment

You may have also heard a sample of the track in Santiago by Yellow, and (massively pitched up) in MARRS' Pump Up The Volume (UK 12") at around 3:46.

This is pretty good. Thanks for the link.

As I’ve never heard this, I wonder if it’s fan-made using bits from both ‘Angel Dust’ and ‘Evil Dust’.
Is this possible?
Are there any bits appearing in this version that don’t appear on the two ‘official’ mixes mentioned above?

Good find either way.

Possibly fan made. I can't hear any completely exclusive bits on this "twelve inch version".
I had a go at listing the structure of each version of the track. If it is a fan edit, they put quite a lot of work into it IMHO.
I've put some little "structure" lists (with times being very approximate) under spoiler tabs, so as not to bore anyone.

I actually thought people might be more excited about the sample source of the Arabian vocals. The WhoSampled website does list the
Dunya Yunis track for MARRS & Eno but as I type this, it doesn't currently list Angel Dust as a track that samples it.

I also wonder if the Peter Saville connection may have prompted NO to listen to the Eno/Byrne album and subsequently remember the vocal sample.

EDIT: wait, there's a "Seven Inch Version" too.
It follows the album version exactly until 2:35 at which point we get the "who told you that I would be back" bit from earlier in the song repeating here (similar to the "12 inch version"), and then we get a shorter guitar ending than the album version (not faded out though). If this has been fan-edited, it is reeeeeally well done.

Another good find.

I will check the samples. Haven't been at home much over Easter, so just hadn’t got around to it yet.

Will have a look at your ‘structure’ lists too when I get chance.

Great find, D.I really like the long 2 minute+ intro on the long version.Very reminiscent of 80s New Order 12" releases. I felt the last couple of minutes though was just repeating earlier sections.

That jump at 2.35 on the short version jars a bit!

My gut feeling however is it's fan made. The long version is done well though, maybe the fan has the multi tracks? There's ones for BM and BLT out there ( and even the LWTUA multis)so quite possible there's multi tracks for Angel Dust too.

I'm not sure I heard anything that's not on Angel Dust or Evil Dust but will give them another listen when get more time.
