Probably it's been done before in a poll but I really want to hear more New Order...there's so much that hasn't been played in a looong time(Jetstream, Working Overtime, Hellbent....the list of untapped classics just goes on). And dare I say it, somehow playing JD tracks without Hooky feels more weird than an NO set without him. Regardless of the deceased horse he continues to flog himself.

Most JD tunes are easier to relearn and learn than NO songs. Why not something from Movement instead, part of yer past, right Barney?? ICB, Denial. For that matter, any guitar heavy NO song with easy lyrics. Broken Promise, Sunrise. Love to see Primitive Notion live. Imagine what the 5 piece band could do with STYT or Hurt? Phil is pretty good at adding guitar where there was none.

Phil is pretty good at adding guitar where there was none. I get the impression Bernard isn't so fond of Movement. And as for additional songs, maybe some don't work well live. Or maybe they don't have time to drastically change the set in this late stage of their tour. Even if the fans want certain songs, if the band thinks they won't work well, or if they've tried it whilst rehearsing and it didn't work well, they won't play them. They might add or subtract some songs within what they're playing in this tour, but drastically changing the setlist at this stage in the tour is unrealistic. It's not the 80s any more; they're not going to play a totally different setlist every night. Let's be more realistic. Edited by user 13 September 2012 20:57:07(UTC)

Or maybe they don't have time to drastically change the set in this late stage of their tour. The obvious track (and enduring live favourite) from Movement was Dreams Never End. I don't foresee them revisiting it in their current incarnation. As did others, I also looked forward to more Technique tracks appearing in honor of the recent duo of Balearic gigs. Apart from Round & Round this year, that album has been ignored live since 1998. Fine Time and Dream Attack were usually excellent live, but my choices would be Vanishing Point and Mr. Disco, which sounded monumental on the 2 occasions I experienced them performed.

I don't think the majority of concert goers anywhere in the world need the lesson that New Order were Joy Division [sic]. US fans like Joy Division, but that's not why they like New Order. A couple of JD tracks per show is more that enough.

I predict She's lost Control and Atmosphere. Why Atmosphere? Because every time I go see them They play the song. Not only that, they start the stinking concert with it as well. I hope HTS stays in the line up as that's the main song I want here.

Actually if they did play Jizzstream (I can't think of a more wretched track in the catalogue, side projects and all) I'd like to think I'd walk out, but in truth I'd probably just shed a quiet tear. In the words of a track I would MUCH rather hear, don't do it!

In A Lonely Place to start out the encore set. Phil can do the extra precussion bit. Chapman's a smart lad, he can pick up that bass line in about a quarter hour. Bernard has the autocue. Gillian's keys are that difficult to relearn.

Odds these songs get played at some point in the US (feel free to comment)
Atmosphere 2:1 (they all know it, enough said) Thieves Like Us 20:1 (even though I tweet @Newordernow every other day pleading for it to be played in Oakland, I doubt it) Round and Round 1:2 (will get played in NY or Toronto on 2nd night) Confusion 12:1 (would not be shocked to see this drop as a surprise in NYC with some witty remark by Bernard about Arthur Baker) Love Vigilantes 5:1 (appears to have been dropped for Isolation) Any othe Technique track 50:1 (if it happens, I'll eat my favorite hat) She's Lost Control 10:1 (most likely Joy Division song to be added after Atmosphere) Everything Gone Green 25:1 (something tells me this may be re-worked and would sound great as a 5 piece)
Give me your odds......

Wish I had the foresight to travel to Europe back in 1984 to witness that mini-tour. I cannot wait to see them in a month but It would be a pleassant surprise if they dug from the vault some of their older stuff, darker songs. IALP is a JD song that they made their own and has not been done for quite a long time.

Give me your odds...... I think the biggest stumbling block for getting anything other than the current crop of tracks is the videos. Looks like more and more work is going into the videos for the current tracks than attempting to do anything different 'musically' with new/old tracks. The videos/lights for the likes of Isolation and Here to Stay have come on leaps and bounds in the past couple of months. Even Ceremony has its own backing video now too ... and of course we've all see the 'Joy Division Forever' video for the encore, which has morphed subtly over the past few gigs (but still looks like it needs a helluva lot more work). Given that, if anything new/old gets added it'll be 1963, seeing as it already comes with its own backdrop - you left that one off your list! Edited by user 17 September 2012 02:14:42(UTC)
