As you may have noticed, it's 40 years since the release of Movement today.

BBC 6 Music have decided to get involved with a "Now Playing" Special. Link.
On FB, 6 Music have been asking "If you could only pick one, what key influence should be on Now Playing's playlist devoted to the band?
Sunday from 6pm, tune in on BBC Sounds."

So if you want to hear Tom "2468 Motorway" Robinson tell you NO facts you may already know, and play you NO records you already have... you know what to do.

40 years eh, they should release a definitive box set or something to mark the anniversary.

Seriously though, the Movement songs always sounded a whole lot better live.

I bought Movement back in the mid 80s after caning Power, Corruption & Lies for months and I was pretty disappointed it wasn’t anywhere near as great as that album. Doubts Even Here probably the one track I do rate quite highly though.

The live and Peel versions are better, except Hooky's horrible Dreams Never End vocal.

Tuned in while i'm cooking dinner. Can hear an influence for Temptation from Our Love by Donna Summer which is on now.Not sure i'd picked up on the Temptation influence in that before.Vague similarity in the sequencer or synth

Surely EGG rather than Temptation? The gurgling proto-acid noise in Our Love inspired the "acid" noise in EGG didn't it? I think Bernard said that in an interview once. *EDIT*, though I suppose both tracks could have been influenced by it.
(And of course the Our Love drums for BM).

Incidentally the German DJ/producer Boys Noize did a cheeky re-edit of Our Love a few years ago which he put out under a Pseudonym, cutting out most of the vox and concentrating on the "proto-acid".
