if anyones interested,
i will post a PDF of the whole book
for those musicians and fans.

there's some cool artwork in there,
and some drawings, for those that
aren't musically inclined.

and although there are lyrics,
they aren't 100% correct.

*NOTE, some thumbnails, aren't showing up,
but the image is there, when you click on it.

I actually have this songbook. Bought it from somewhere circa 1990 ish. Possibly from a mail order ad in a music paper, buggered if i can remember now. Yeah an interesting little item to have

Dug out and flicked through again just now. Some insight into 1963 by Barney and his apparent theories on the assassination of JFK, Hooky saying a bit about problems with achieving the right snare sound on Temptation?, something about polyester slacks and a load of photos that also appeared in the 89 US tour programme.

Oh, and i can't read music.

Lovely I wonder whether Barney was taking the piss with the 1963 explanation or chemicals were in effect. I do assume that the elves and rhytm machine drawings are Steve's? Mental. In a good way.

Yeah, much appreciated Raj. I've only ever seen one or two copies of this in the flesh, and to my regret passed it up.

...was reminiscing about the old Ceremony list recently...I think it may still be active, but barely posted to these days.

Wow, talk about digging up the past. I just came across the songbook while sorting out
my papers and books. Glad to see that people still have it, and are enjoying it.

I have yet to see a single person post anything musical with it though.

I figured people just like looking at the pictures, or singing what might be the lyrics.

Yeah. Thanks for scanning it, -ve1.

I'm guessing I got my copy from you, but the mists of time have dulled my mind and I can't really remember.
Just had it sitting on my hard-drive.

I really liked the book. I bought my copy from HMV in Manchester, I believe. Probably around 1990-1.
I damaged the 'black cross' sticker (not shown in your scan) whilst trying to remove it from the shrink-wrapping and also, a few months later, the die-cut cross on the cover got caught on another book and I ended up creasing the damn thing. Very annoying.

Still, it's a great little book and I liked it. Mainly for the quirky 'Vic Reeves style' humour that the band had added to it ,than the lyrics (which were probably a bit screwy: these things usually are).

I remember playing the songs on acoustic guitar when I was sent a copy of the PDF and being amazed at how similar (and not that interesting) they all sounded when stripped back to just the chords and vocal melody

Made me appreciate how the synth arrangements and the bass lines gave the songs their unique magic

This is so true. I had the book (once upon a time) and about the first 8 or so songs in it are based around the key of C.

I saw the book once and that die-cut cover had already taken a beating just sitting on the store shelf.

It deserves a second printing, but with a cover that will stand up to actual reading!

my brother has a ton of musical talent, and actually did some cover songs,
including new order - subculture.

however, he is painfully shy, and refuses to ever post any of his music or singing,
even though i thought it was good or decent.

he just likes to fiddle with music and do it for the entertainment sake, as opposed
to sharing it.

maybe a lot of people that got it are shy.

but there is no shortage of people making their own cover versions, and figuring
out the music on their own.

there was one guy that had very accurate recreations of tons of their songs, and
i used to post most of those under a covers thread.
