There’s a sample photo a page or so back, which gives an idea of what it’s like. Would just be nice to get an actual scan.

There is a scan on the discogs entry

Thanks for that. Appreciated.

I didn't think to look there. D'oh!

I also got a scan from Fotz.

Nice mention on the front page of Pitchfork.

I somehow missed this article when it came out in 2016. Makes me think even less of Hook (as if that were possible).

Great article. Thanks for the link. I hadn't read it before.

To be honest, a lot of what was said regarding Hooky wasn't news to me, and I'm pleased that (again) she didn't use this interview to be particularly critical of him. She just used it as a platform to defend her contribution (and bloody right too!).

What I took away from the article most was what a remarkable human being she is.
She put in the long hours and helped define the band both musically and (as Johnny Marr so rightly stated recently) their image.

Then, in later life, she's had to put up with criticism from a fellow bandmate (not to mention a few fans).
All this, whilst having to fight Cancer, having a child with a significant illness / disability (*), and having to leave behind something in her life that was (presumably) massively important to her.

She's a class act. For sure.

(*) No easy feat. Take it from me. :-)

Video first view- What was that all about? What does it all mean?

Second view- nope, still can’t relate or interpret

Third view some hours later after a few beers - fuck it, it’s quite cool either way.

Though the scenes where the woman is surrounded by ghostly sheeted figures reminds of a nightmare I had as a kid, ghostly figures in sheets surrounding my bed. Woah.

I've just finished watching the video for the first time and I must admit that I like it quite a lot! Be a Rebel remains a weak song to my ears but this video works quite well with it and adds some substance (...) to it. A good surprise!

The "official explanation..."

The music video follows a young couple trapped in a state of purgatory, the woman informing her former lover that she has met someone else. The synths begin to swell he lays in a bed looking off in despair, the woman sitting a desk anxious to get out. She shoots him with an arrow, the video depicting his sense of heartbreak at their ending relationship. A disc slips out of his chest as the track continues its enthusiastic synths, the two soon dancing in colorful hues.

Sort of got lost with the last sentence.

It’s a reasonable effort, IMO, but not something I’m going to rush to watch again.

I quite liked some of the imagery, especially the ‘emotions’ written on the floor, like gaping chasms.

It kind of reminded me of the ‘Restless’ video. Both of them are the same sort of ‘playful bollocks’, as I like to call things like this.
Fun, but frivolous.

I think they are doing these type of loud colorful videos for maybe get the younger viewers attention but I prefer the WFTSC call video where the boy is running around in UK in a small town with the nice scenery, I would have loved it if the shot the video in Manchester with the old building and the old cobble streets on a grey wet day.

More to the point - it's yet another edit/mix of the song. The first 30 seconds or so are different to the regular single edit - albeit pretty much identical thereafter

No it's not. It's the single edit, but with a thunderclap overlaid at the start with the music slightly lower and reverberated during the sound effect. Probably done during the production of the video for (who knows) "dramatic" effect. Not a different edit or mix of the song, just a common trick some video directors add at the start or end of videos.

Mark Reeder time? Gotta be.

EDIT: Looks like tomorrows package of mixes will be subtitled [Remixes pt1] suggesting more mixes to follow.

I've heard about 5 mins of the Maceo Plex (!) remix.
It certainly kicks more ass than the original. Although Bernard's vocal is perhaps a bit too high and bright in the mix - at least until the vox drop out for quite long periods. I thought it was Neil Tennant for a moment!
Alas Maceo can't resist a nod to Blue Monday (the Kraftwerk bit). This has been done by other NO remixers in the past. Maybe NO need to issue an edict to remixers: No more nods to BM.
Maceo has enough ideas of his own, he doesn't need to do this.
But overall it's still worth a listen.
Oh also the "Be A Rebel" line is backwards. How very Dave Clarke!

☝️ Actually we may have to wait a bit longer for Reeder's mix.
I think we're getting:
Bernard's outlaw mix. Not the most exciting.

Paul Woolford Mix.
Starts ok and then gets better. Manages to remind me of both PSB and Dead Or Alive (percussion/claps).

Maceo Plex mix
As described in my post above.

Nonplussed by the two new remixes. As mentioned, one samples Blue Monday, the other has a bit of Bizarre Love Triangle 12" intro in there. Always takes me out of the mix/track when bits of other songs crop up.

The Bernard Outlaw win is virtually identital to the digital Renegade mix, just with the piano riff from the original single mix added to the chorus and the odd whizzy sound effect. More of an alternate take than a different mix, so bit of a pointless release. So now I make it we have six different versions of Bernard's Remix!

Hoping for better mixes in part two!

I have a reputation to maintain.
Wanking contest. I came first hands down by a long shot, beating off some stiff competition.
I think I jerked off to Gillian once, but in those days I'd grab anything with my free hand. Not the best session, partly cos she has the charisma of a mongoose, mainly cos I was scared the pause function would go off just before me and I'd splatter Hooky's beard.
I haven't listened to Mucous Complete for a while. The last thing I heard was of course Be A Rebel and the last thing I bought was probably MILF. Great to hear them finally digging out some gems instead of the usual formula. Can't be arsed with all the other live CDs, but as I said before, you don't have to buy anything, what with YouTube and crud like International. Last wankend I saw One of Hooky's live albums and honestly, what's the point? The Light are a great night out but why shell out for carbon copies with shit vocals? Interesting too that the Jiz Coldman collaboration namechecks JD and not NO, whose music was, according to Hooky, far stronger.
Have fun.

Thanks for heads up on these, D.Total playing time of the 3 new mixes was around 18 minutes which just happened to be about how long my drive to work is , so i got through them on the journey this morn.Yep, glad i'm not the only one who spotted a split second of BLT in one of the mixes. Some good moments in the first 2 mixes but like Debaser said, the choral thing from BM - could have done without yet again. And yes Bernard's vocal seemed high on one of the mixes. On Bernard's Outlaw mix there's only one or two bits added on from his renegade mix.

Sorry but I couldn't help laughing at 'Gillian faced that exact situation' when it'd been so obviously set up.
What do you do if you're called Michael Monkhouse, you have a pitiable obsession with a crap girl ''''band'''' that went out of fashion 26 years ago and even then they were shit, you lose 70% of your work thanks to covid and you want to be a stand-up comedian but you are total and utter fucking shit?

Love Paul Woolford's mix by a mile. It feels like a classic New Order 12". And I'm not fussed by the little snare-skip or reverse orchestra hit lifted from Bizarre Love Triangle...because at least it's not Blue Monday.

I'm actually surprised they've never done a Bizarre Love Triangle ['year] 12", but they'd be hard pressed to improve on Richard X's mix from 2005.
