Thing is, if Bernard, Steve & Gillian decided to forgive him which is highly highly HIGHLY unlikely and let him rejoin the band , inevitably relationships would deteriorate again sooner or later. Hooky would get irritated again by the way Bernard licks his fingers after eating a packet of crisps etc.

Anyway, it’s never NEVER going to happen . Bernard moved on years ago and does anyone in their right mind really think Steve & Gillian would forgive Hooky after the absolute shit he’s said? The mind boggles at where Hooky’s head is at. Yeah , no New Order without Hooky and all that but that’s the OLD New Order. Those days are gone, like it or not. It’s a different New Order now.Deal with it.

Yeah, not going to happen unless the main three decide to be incredibly ruthless regarding that lad they've got playing the bass. There's no reason to, the stuff they've released has been really well received (even that Electronic song that's out now) and all is peace and harmony....

...and yet...

who wouldn't want to see Hooky back on stage again? I know I would and I know Hooky knows that too which is what he's trying to appeal to here.

I believe you have those roles reversed in the crisps anecdote.

The only way I see a reconciliation happening is on the occasion of a celebration of their career somewhere down the line, after they've ceased to be an active entity.

Ah ok. My mistake but my point is they’ll always inevitably fall out sooner or later if Hooky rejoined.

Of course he does. New Order's last album had the critics raving, the gigs sold out like hot tarts, and even a five-year-old one-off single is big news. The Light are getting more and more tedious with every gig.

I think this article is a bit misleading.

It's headed 'Peter Hook: 'I'd like to sort things out with New Order'', as if he's made a bold statement to the band.
But he actually said "maybe someone should sit us all down in a room and play us this album together and go, ‘Why the fuck are you arguing like this when you did this?’":

https://www.nme.com/musi...vision-interview-2764149

I don't think that the above is really him making a bold statement and saying he wants to 'fix things'. I think it's more that he just said something off the cuff, and the NME have run with it.

That being said, I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to be back in the band. But that's ship's well and truly sailed.

Let's imagine that Bernard wanted him back (not likely, I would imagine), the bad blood it would generate in the band would likely tear them apart for good.
Even if S&G were to go along with it (they're amiable types after all), I would imagine that there'd be a fair bit of resentment not only towards Hooky, but also to Bernard for allowing this toxic situation to happen.

You know, I've said this before, but my major problem with Hooky is his treatment of Gillian. I believe he probably has some valid points re some of his gripes (and some invalid ones too).
But dismissing Gillian in the way that he has, rankles me.

I believe that he's not only 'made his bed', he's shat in it as well. And I think he knows that.

Probably fair to say that the only way it would happen was if the money on the table was significant enough that they could all comfortably retire afterwards and didn't need to speak to each other before/during/after the gigs

Having seen Guns n Roses reform for a huge world tour, I wouldn't ever rule anything out. A "not in this lifetime" fall-out that only a huge suitcase of money could resolve

I suppose that an invite for admission into the 'Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame' might be a chance for the band to get together for one last appearance.

Somehow though, the 'R&RHoF' doesn't seem very 'New Order', does it? :-)

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is kind of a joke, but now that The Cure and Depeche Mode have been inducted, New Order, Joy Division, and The Smiths deserve their recognition.

They're kind of dicks about who they induct, though. For New Order, it would ONLY be the 4 original members, and exclude Phil and Tom (even though Phil has now been a member for 20 years).

I could see them all appearing, but not playing together (KISS declined to play - others have as well). And if they did relent and play, it would only be Blue Monday and Ceremony. Hooky would showboat his way through the whole performance.

I could also image a scenario where both Joy Division and New Order are inducted at the same time, Hooky makes the acceptance speech on behalf of Joy Division, then he and The Light play LWTUA and Transmission. Barney, Steve, and Gillian accept on behalf of New Order, and the current 5-piece then plays Blue Monday and Ceremony. No crossing of the streams.

i'm convinced that shit like the Hall of Fame just take in anyone cos they're desperate. After you get through the biggies, you have to have someone.

These things are guff really. But they already did the short lived UK one in 2005; I was there (courtesy of this forum).
I really enjoyed Eurythmics that night!

Yep. I remember that induction. I think I taped it at the time.
They were inducted by John Simm, who played Bernard in 24HPP and the ‘Here To Stay’ video.
