It was definitely on before the 'Past Present & Future' documentary, but, yeah, it was possibly on before the 'Factory' special too.
I only have the intro for 'PP&F' though and that goes:

'And now a special on New Order, "Past, Present & Future", but please note that this programme was made before the demise of Factory Records'.

I'm not sure how long 'Post-Modern' was on MTV Europe for, but don't think it was around for very long. I always remember it being presented by Pip Dann and I seem to think that '120 Minutes' was also on during the same period. So, it wasn't like it replaced '120 Minutes'.

If I recall correctly, it was a little less hardcore than '120 Minutes' or, especially, 'Alternative Nation'.
Whilst you were likely to get Husker Du, Pixies and Nine Inch Nails on those programmes, you were more likely to get the 'pop' side of 'alternative' on 'Post-Modern'. Think New Order, Devo, Sparks or Talking Heads.

That's how I remember the programme anyway, but I may be completely wrong (it was 27 years ago, after all).

Wikipedia states:

"PostModern MTV was a nightly program in the late 1980s and very early 1990s on MTV, originally hosted by Kevin Seal and later by Dave Kendall featuring such pre-grunge "alternative" artists as The Cure, They Might Be Giants, Depeche Mode, Siouxsie and The Banshees, and Love and Rockets. The show was essentially a weeknight version of the Sunday night program 120 Minutes, with an emphasis on a more mainstream appeal.

After the departure of the original host, a reworked program entitled Alternative Nation was introduced, which followed a similar format and feel. The MTV Europe Edition of the PostModern show was hosted by Pip Dann in the 1990s.

So, yeah, kind of how I remember the programme. Seem to remember liking it in 1993. Although I was always an 'indie kid', back then I was definitely more into the 'mainstream' indie (New Order, Depeche, PSBs etc.) than the stuff I got into a bit later.

Just been viewing YouTube videos of the show. It's got me very nostalgic for MTV, as it was back then. I spent many an hour watching the channel. Whether it was keenly watching '120 Minutes', 'Post-Modern' or 'First Look' to discover cool new (to me) bands, or just generally 'dipping in' to see if there was anything decent to watch in amongst all the crappy Bon Jovi or Guns 'n' Roses videos that were inevitably featured.

Why can't we have channels like that anymore? I guess that's what YouTube's for, eh?

Anyone who loved the daftness of MTV Europe (like me) may appreciate this wonderful parody by the utterly brilliant satirist, Chris Morris (who plays every character in the clip).
For anyone that doesn't know, this was from 'The Day Today', which was a spoof news programme that was broadcast in the mid-90s.

I honestly think that this is the funniest piece of TV I've ever seen (which possibly says something about my humour).
Just to bring this back to NO related, it also contains a (rather tasteless) JD reference.

Here you go:

Ive got a bit lost with all this what New Order 120 Minutes Factory special/'filmed before Factory went bankrupt' or not/'Factory' documentary/ what was filmed/not filmed before/after Factory went bankrupt/ but just to agree yes, The Day Today and Chris Morris is in my opinion the funniest tv series ever (though Nathan Barley runs it close). And yes that also says a lot about my sense of humour too.I bought the DVD of The Day Today some years back.An absolutely essential purchase.

Pretty much anything done by Morris is magnificent: Brass Eye, Blue Jam, The Day Today.
Even him announcing Jimmy Savile's death live on Radio 1 a full seventeen years before the twat actually shuffled off to Hell:

"NEWSREADER: The main stories so far: Jimmy Savile drops dead at the Stoke Mandeville Boxing Day bash—but the patients are far from mourning.
CORRESPONDENT: The majority, if not all of them, are extremely relieved that he’s now dead, although I suspect that some of them will be sorry that he didn't suffer a great deal more.
–Chris Morris Music Show, Boxing Day 1994

From all accounts, Sir Jimmy was most upset and it spoiled his Christmas. Shame.

Somehow the radio 1 series Blue Jam passed me by but the tv version on Channel 4, Jam was brilliant. In fact so good it was another essential DVD purchase. Chris Morris is superb. Well that word doesn’t really cover it but, you know

Odd and a bit frustrating, although I'm totally sure Post Modern existed I can't remember anything about it. Blank. And I can remember other shows - 3 from one, the news ones - and even ones I wasn't remotely interested in, Yo MTV raps and Soul of MTV and others.
Haven't heard of Chris Morris before, will check him out. Seems interesting.
On topic of 90s music programs, anyone remember Les Inrockuptibles show on MCM? I think it was sponsored by the french magazine of the same name. The channel was in French although it might have been based in Monte Carlo (MCM would have been for Monte Carlo Music). It also featured an interview with New Order during the Republic era in 93, should have most of it on video somewhere, the trouble is the tapes are not marked and I don't have a VHS player anymore! Barney was well dressed and not in baggy or jeans, also made jokes of Steve. Covered all the usual topics - Ian's death, Madchester, fall of Factory and the new album. Don't think I've seen it anywhere - but I haven't searched very diligently.

Hadn’t heard about that Inrockuptibles interview. Would love to see it if you ever find it.

BTW I’ve had a few ‘copyright’ claims on my channel, so am probably going to be removing most, if not all, of the videos later just so that I feel a little more at ease. If anyone comes to this thread late, just PM me and I can send you anything you’ve missed.
I’m probably just being paranoid and can’t imagine Warners / MTV etc. coming after me for posting a few interviews (without music) that will probably never be shown again.

I would encourage you not to overreact and pull everything down. There are literally millions of videos on YouTube for which a copyright claim could be made.

We had both Recycle and Extra Track (And A Tacky Badge) online for over a year and never received takedown notices. We live in a post-Napster age where it's expected media will be shared.

Thanks. That is reassuring.

I have been having second thoughts myself throughout the day.

I’ll leave stuff up for a while, but just so that people know that, if I do have a skittish moment, I may pull them down fairly quickly.

Oh I’m always getting copyright claims against my YouTube uploads. The videos just get removed , it’s not like you’re going to get a lawsuit filed against you!

Sometimes I get a copyright claim but oddly the video isn’t removed. Stranger still are the claims that come through only after a video had been up for years.

Unless you're making money off your videos. Don't worry too much.

I've had tons of copyright claims, and i've ignored every single one of them.

I could care less if they take them down. I'll just repost them again under a different account.

Oh, and by the way youtube sucks, vimeo or dailymotion all the way.

Bonus: There's a great bit of Barney dancing after he loses the guitar towards the end.

Has this Paris 87 True Faith disappeared from the YouTube page? Watched it a few days back and now can't see it there.

Yep - sorry, that was me pulling the video as that was one of the problematic ones.

I pulled the following for copyright reasons:

Rapido 12/87 (the one you mentioned above)
XPO 04/93 (Rome interview; I'm currently re-editing that to see if I can put it back up).
'Murder' samples video
'Countdown' ('Blue Monday' alternate take #2)

There may have been another one, but I can't remember.

If you want to see any of the above, just drop me a PM with your email address and I'll send them over via WeTransfer (or similar).

I wonder whether Taras Chavwanko was why they edited Reading for the first DVD. Shame cos I'd rather have had the complete Reading show than something I had on vid anyway. They erased whole songs and banter such as my personal favourite, Thanks, you've been a fucking brilliant audience. And we've been a fucking brilliant band... The interview was hardly essential either.

For wot it's worth, the Past, Present and Future doc I saw was def Summer 1993. Around that time, the Barnster told NME, We've done three documentaries... This, Radio One's How Does It Feel and of course New Order Whorey.

I've just uploaded a new clip.

It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearance by the Viking himself.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlfwJQSkSSI

Nothing Earth-shattering, but it was new to me. Thought it an interesting enough curiosity to upload.
Thanks to my good friend, Glenn, for providing.
