Over at SDE, there's news that two new Blank & Jones So 80's 2xCD sets will be released this year, one of which has Shep Pettibone’s 10-minute Dub version of New Order‘s ‘True Faith’.

Interesting to know, but if this release is CD-only like an earlier one that featured the full-length 'Shellshock' 12" a few years ago - or doesn't allow just that one track to be downloaded digitally - I'm not interested. It'll be a lot of money to spend on an album for just the one track, and - again, like the earlier one - I'd be embarrassed to have some of those godawful 80s tracks by other acts in my music collection. Doubly so in their longer, remixed versions.

I'll bide my time until the digital re-release of the 'True Faith' Remix 12" when the 'Brotherhood' deluxe edition materialises.

Plus, the original 'True Dub' should've appeared on CD years ago on the 'Brotherhood' collectors edition - the biggest fuck-up of the whole set was including the 90s Eschreamer Dub on there, and failing to sort it out on the corrected CD2.

Incidentally, the original version of True Faith came on in a pub today, and hearing it unexpectedly made me realise how contemporary and fresh it still sounds to this day.

True Dub is great. I really like it.

Actually, thinking about it, I really like pretty much every official remix from the Factory years.

There's a few that I'm not that fussed with:

Sub-Culture 7", 12" / Dub-Vulture 7", 12" mixes are all a bit of a mess (to say the least). But they're ok, I suppose.
Shellshock 12" is fine but it just goes on far too long, with the chorus being repeated 8 (!) times at the end (yes, I counted!). Pretty In Pink version is much better.
One or two of the Round & Round remixes don't really float my boat.
The same can be said about some of the World In Motion mixes.

But apart from the above, I pretty much love every 7", 12", Dub etc. mix they did between 1981 and 1990.
New Order's 1980s' 12"s were mostly sublime. But then we all know that. Wink

Then you get to the 1990s and the least said about that period the better.
Sly & Robbie, anyone. No? Me neither.

As regards the Brotherhood 2CD, I wasn't too bothered by the inclusion of the Eschreamer Dub as it was interesting to hear this extremely rare remix (although, admittedly, it wasn't great). I think it had been scheduled for release and was pulled, wasn't it?
Talking of which, has the actual Eschreamer 'Mix' (rather than the 'Dub') every got a release?
An edit of the Dub appeared on that 'Cream Live' LP from the mid-90s (mixed in to other non-New Order dance tracks).

It will be nice to get the digital releases of all these singles as they are released but, to be fair, I've always been very happy with the awesome 'Recycle' project restorations. It's the actual LP box sets that have me most excited.

i mentioned those mixes in the recycle 2 project:
http://forums.neworderon...ts&m=13532#post13532

7 true faith-94 (eschreamer edit) 4:41 cd
8 true faith-94 (eschreamer dub) 7:47 v, cd
9 true faith-94 (eschreamer mix) 7:44 v

i have a copy ripped from vinyl of the eschreamer mix.

apparently there were only 15 white label copies pressed, before it was recalled.
or maybe those were the only ones made.

theres no original information on discogs, and nobodies mentioned it there.
its on the new order discography, and david s's site.

the discogs information under the brotherhood remaster just copies the
prior information released about it.
