Unknown Pleasures is being re-issued in a reverse-colour sleeve with a red vinyl disc and an accompanying t-shirt, just in time for father's day

https://store.neworder.c...inyl-t-shirt-bundle.html

I was at a record fayre last weekend and I found a few copies of a bootleg "unknown pleasures alternative" which beat them to the punch with an inverted black-on-white (or grey-on-grey) version of the classic artwork. It was the UP tracklist but with tracks sourced from demos and live takes. I didn't buy it. Found it on discogs though

https://www.discogs.com/...easures/release/12581689

Released last year… and coincidentally (or not) with a red vinyl disc. I imagine it's in reasonably wide circulation.

Interesting - Discogs still seems to allow it for sale (although no sellers in the UK currently) - I've never been quite sure how they work out which items they block on the market place and which they allow...but this is clearly a bootleg

Inverted cover. What will they think of next?

I'm sure there must be a gazillion other bootlegs that have done this (for sure there are bootleg t shirts etc that have) but I'm quite surprised they haven't done it "officially" so far. Unless they actually have.

Saville used a reverse 3D image on the cover of his first book.

I bought one too.
Yes, it's a bit of a gimmick, but it looks lovely.
Very pleased.

On the original Factory release, they did use a black on white image for the record label on the 'Inside' side, with the standard (white on black) version on the 'Outside' side.

What's rather nice about the new version, is that they've also inverted both the inner sleeve and the record labels (so that the 'Inside' is white on black and the 'Outside' is black on white).

Oh, and I'm guessing that the ruby red vinyl is to celebrate its 'ruby' anniversary (40 years).

I liked how the insert was inverted. I was interested to find out whether they would have inverted the door pic back to normal (since it’s inverted on the original) but it’s the same.

Ah good point!

No download code in mine: not that I need another digital copy but that seems quite unusual for a new vinyl release these days.

Unknown Pleasures is on course to enter the Official UK Albums Chart Top 10 for the first time

Quote:
Bernard Sumner told Official Charts: "Amazing that 40 years after release, new generations are still discovering and listening to our debut album.
