getting ahead of meself i know...the dvd with movement boxset has got me thinking what other pristine footage steves got hidden under his mattress for later albums. assuming the box has sold as expected and we're treated to the full range of factory lps + republic... whats potentially in store?

an unknown gem unearthed for each era, like peppermint lounge would be too much to ask..would it? a full gig previously unseen, no clips on youtube etc (far as i know). too much to hope for probably, but my take at what could be in the pipeline as a pristine quality, proper proshot video?

83 hacienda, minniapolis, switch
84 barcelona
85 hacienda, toronto, leuven
86 suite 16 (was this 87)
87 glastonbury, paris
88
89 brixton, shoreline
93 montreux

any others? would love to see reading 89 and 93 but not professionally filmed to my knowledge.

at £100 a shot its outrageous...but take my money!

Yeah, I wondered about this myself and set up a (fairly premature) thread about PC&L 3 months ago, here:

http://forums.neworderon...sts&t=4559#post29360

Not many people wanted to play ball and speculate, sadly, but here were my previously posted views about what might be in a second box set:

Yes, I'm probably being a bit hopeful with suggestions here but, who knows, by listing stuff here, the powers that be might see it and make it happen. It therefore might be a good idea to get an early start here.

So, going on the template that 'Movement' Deluxe has set, we should possibly plan for a 1 x vinyl, 2 x CD, 1 x DVD (plus book) set, with the vinyl and 1 x CD taken up with the original LP, lovingly restored.

Therefore, we only need to speculate on the other CD and the DVD:

This would reflect what is on 'Movement' CD2, with this not including non-album singles, b-sides etc.

I would imagine (again, like 'Movement'), we will get mainly demos on this disc.
So, possibly, a demo for each LP track, plus demos for Blue Monday, Confusion, Thieves Like Us, Lonesome Tonight and Murder.
Do demos even exist for these tracks? I would love to hear a demo of Blue Monday.

What else could be on here, though, apart from demos.
The only tracks I can think of from around this period that could feature are:

Video 5.8.6 (maybe too long to fit on the disc?)
Ode To Joy / Rocking Carol (would the band want these 'BeMusic' items included?)
Too Late / Turn The Heater On (perhaps the band had a stab at doing 'studio', i.e. non-Peel versions)

Personally, I'd love to have Video 5.8.6 feature. I'm not that bothered by the two Xmas flexi tracks, but the completist in me would rather like them added.

Anything I've missed on this that we know (or hope) exists?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and hope that the 'music videos' are going to be included on the box-sets. If so, we could probably include the following:

Promo Videos:

Blue Monday (original video) (are there problems with copyright on this one though?)
Confusion
Primitive 5.8.6 (original video from Haçienda opening; from 'A Factory Video')

Live 'professional' / 'semi professional' stuff that exists that could be used:

Melbourne 27/11/82
Haçienda 26/01/83 (Your Silent Face was on 'A Factory Outing')
Cork 22/04/83 (2 tracks were on the Glasgow DVD)
Minneapolis 29/06/83 (great footage exists)
Music For Miners 14/05/84 (great rehearsal footage exists, sadly without sound)
Seaside Festival 11/08/84 (great footage exists and was featured on Belgian TV)

TV:

Riverside 17/01/83 (nice article about the Haçienda)
Top Of The Pops 31/03/83 (Blue Monday)
Switch 01/04/83 (Age Of Consent & Blue Monday)
Countdown 05/06/83 (Interview, Blue Monday and (the fabled) Confusion)
Riverside 10/10/83 (Interview)
DJ 03/12/83 (Thieves Like Us)
Musik Convoy 16/04/84 (Thieves Like Us)
Top Of The Pops 03/05/84 (Thieves Like Us)
Pop Elektron 25/05/84 (Interview, Thieves Like Us)
Play At Home 21/08/84 (this HAS to be included)
Rock Around The Clock 25/08/84 (I'm hoping that the band will 'ok' this brilliant 'car crash' performance)
Estoc De Pop 15/09/84 (four tracks broadcast, but whole gig could be included)

OK - I'm about done. Phew!

Anything I've missed? Anything you'd absolutely love to see included?

I don't think that's too much to ask. I'm SURE there must be gigs we've no idea were recorded, like the Peppermint Lounge footage or the Glasto '81 footage that we were treated to back in 2008.

For a start, I would imagine that most Haçienda gigs were filmed in their entirety, as we've seen quite a bit footage from these gigs (A Factory Outing & Movement Definitive ('83), OGWT ('85), bootlegs of '86 and '87 etc.). Being the band's own club, there's every likelihood that they filmed them.

The only other PRO ones from the above eras that I know of are:

Melbourne '82 (bootlegged amongst fans)
Cork '83 (two tracks released on Glasgow DVD; there's bound to be other footage)
Music For Miners '84 (rehearsal footage exists and has been circulated amongst fans; again, there's bound to be footage of the gig)
Rotterdam '85 (four tracks released on Glasgow DVD; there's bound to be other footage)
GMEX '86 (footage of 'Ceremony' with Ian McCulloch was shown on a programme in 1988)
Red Rocks '89 (footage of Touched By The Hand Of God exists, so there might be other songs)
Chicago '93 (the alternate 'World' video used shots from this gig)

Mine too, if the sets include even a fraction of the above stuff.

mmm good call on some of those, seen all of the footage u mentioned apart from red rocks. wonder if this gig was used for the run promo footage... forgot about some of gigs with tracks on the 2nd glasgow dvd.

such a sucker for this stuff. like the bootlegs, no videos are treasure. to get quality clips from some of those you mentioned would be sublime.

stuff like the hac gig for whistle test, sunrise from that is incredible. skullcrusher from estoc de pop or ive a cock like the m1 from rfh - imagine Cool

seeing properly pristine video of unseen stuff like 586, all day long, mr disco, special would be magical. take my money.

Just checked the Run video and Red Rocks footage I have.
They seem to be different gigs, based on Barney's / Hooky's T-Shirts.

Oh, and yeah, Sunrise from OGWT is bloody awesome. Would love to see the whole gig.

Not sure if this means anything or nothing, but it's been pointed out on twitter by some former forumites that Substance has disappeared from official streaming services such as Spotify over the past few days. It's still on youtube but uploaded by a private individual rather than the offiical NO channel.
Why would that have happened?

I wanted to listen to a few songs from Substance on my phone some weeks back and looked Substance up on Apple Music as I didn’t have the album in my library on my phone. The album was not on Apple Music streaming. Did think it was a bit odd it’s not on there.

Bit odd.

Could be that they're getting ready to release a 'new' version of it (which has been rumoured for a while, or, at least a 'Substance 2' has).

Probably just a rights issue / refresh of streaming catalogue etc.

Maybe, with 'Singles' being on there, they think 'Substance' is superfluous (Heresy!!)

I couldn't find the original clip of this online, so have uploaded my edited version on my YouTube channel.
The full clip (which was broadcast on a programme called 'Teletunes' on channel KBDI) features footage of Pil and The Sugarcubes from the same tour, but I've edited that out.

Here it is:

As I've said a hundred times before, if anyone ever wants to trade rare New Order (and related bands) video material, PM me.

My shout for the DVD is simply based around the gigs I attended back in the mid to late 80's ……..

> Blackburn KGH in Jan 85
> Preston Guildhall in Oct 85
> GMEX in Jul '86 (Festival of 10th Summer)
> Newcastle Mayfair in Sep '86
> Wembley Arena in Dec '87
> GMEX in Dec '88

IMHO this period was New Order at the top of their game (probably down to me having the time of my life.....) & if they replicate the quality of the Movement box-set with PC&L, Low-Life and Technique ...... we really will be in for a treat.

BTW: I'd love to tap into the depth of knowledge on the forum as to whether there already exists video out there of the gigs above??? Any links would be great

God, I wish they'd put this version of Touched By The Hand Of God back in the setlist. It's always been one of my favorites, and I'm not fond of the stripped down version they used when they came back in '98.

In terms of live stuff for a PCL box, a collector lent me his first gen bootleg of the Hull Tower Cinema 82 tape which has the full epic 22 minute version of Ultraviolence on it. The second time they ever played it I think A different (better source) to the version on Youtube that has the start of Ultraviolence missing. It's a great piece of the journey towards PCL
