Down a YouTube rabbit hole after a few wines i ended up watching this.Hadn't listened to it in years .Doves on the comeback trail later this year or at least live. This from Later.. in 1999.Memory of getting into Doves in early 00s after hearing this. They were kind of dreary dull but like nothing else magnificently inspiring and optimistic at the same time.An odd mixture.Saw them live a few times. This clip reminds of a time when the world ...and life, had, dunno, a soul? A boiler that worked?

Doves' Some Cities album.Hadn't given this a spin in years.Managed to get hold of the limited edition hessian box back when the album came out in 2005.Lovely item and kind of reminded of the Factory boxes. Almost Forgot Myself, Walk In Fire, Someday Soon, One Of These Days and Ambition all hit that part of the soul the way only Doves' best songs can.Walk In Fire probably the centrepiece of the album and that everything gravitates around.Closing song Ambition is just, wow. Sky Starts Falling was maybe one of the weaker songs on the album but still a good song and one that they released as a single with a marvellously mindbending video to go with it.

^ I like the Got To Keep On track. One of the dancers in the video reminded me of the girl in that brilliant Let Forever Be video , the way she’s dressed.
Have heard the MAH one a few times but not sure if I rate it or not really.

My favourite song at the moment is Lynyrd Skynryd 'Simple Man' for the line 'Forget your lust for the rich man's gold - All that you need is in your soul'. So I guess you won't be wanting any royalties for that one, Lynny?

First-- i listened to Lynard Skynard for the first time since 1971 last night.on an old mojo prog /folk /metal compilation cd, and the song was Still Unbroken. A very nice song ..Amazing to get back to the forum after a 2 month absence and MichaelMorehouse happens to mention Lynard Skynard only 2 posts back.our mind vibrations must really be reverberating in a good way through the cosmic neworderverse. Next- New Order -- all the Lost Sirens fit like a glove. Hurray for every second of every one, can't live w/out them, and most of Bad Lieutenant
Lastly -- after a mont h of listening to nothing but old and new progrock/ krautrock the verdict is -- Popol Vuh. ,Amon Duul 2, and Faust are still more interesting to me than yes, genesis and King Crimson. Ps-- i heard some things i wish NO would try on their next 3 or 4 albums 1- moon duo type songs-- long, rolling and tumbling with lots of crystal guitar solos 2 -- spiritual 2 album set of long long songs -- Popol Vuh type songs. 3-- 2 record set of Chad and Jeremy type pretty songs ,or simon and Garfunkel type songs. 4-' Everyone in NO get moogs and choir organs and release a 3 record set of super fantastic Psychedelia, beautiful and not pretentious and intellectual, just a totally top notch NO brand of eternally enjoyable blissadelic psychedelia 5-- 2 DISCS OF 24 WONDERFUL NEW 4 MINUTE SONGS , A FEW 5 OR 6 MINUTES, of enduring wonderfullness

Was rather sad to learn of the death of Mark Hollis of Talk Talk this week.Think i only ever bought one Talk Talk record, It's My Life on 7" in the 80s.Was always aware of the fairly radical change in musical direction later with their Colour Of Spring album and then Spirit Of Eden.Shamefully i never got round to listening to those albums properly but, as always is with these things i now felt compelled to give them a listen.I've heard quite a lot of the songs from those albums over the years on the radio and such but never sat down and listened to the whole package.Gave the Colour Of Spring album and Spirit Of Eden album some listens this week.Kind of stuff you have to be in the right mood for but if you choose the right time and give them time they're pretty bloody good, really rewarding.Spirit Of Eden probably their masterpiece.RIP Mark Hollis.

The saddest thing when Talk Talk vocalist died was, I couldn't remember a single lyric. Such a shame.

Breathe was always my favourite of the Prodigy's Keith tracks. Saw them live several times and he made up for his (lack of) musicianship with his showmanship. It feels like Rave has lost an icon.

I like Bro's by Panda Bear. And other wonders by this remarkable bear animal . He may be a Firefox, or Red Panda , but i believe he is a giant panda . In any event Panda probably loves all pandas ,raccoons, and bears, and of course owls. There are several on Bro's. I wish Bernard would try to work with Panda. Panda loves New Order. NO is mentioned on the sleeve for Person Pitch . Bernard is into some ok bands but not working on 5 or 6 albums with Panda is just going to be insufferable knowing he and Panda could create sonic wonders beyond the beyond , into the infinite and divine. But no, he likes hot chip and others and brandon and a Brett somebody -- i cannot open Andy's post. it may be about jeremy brett, or brett of suede maybe . Ps -- Bernard is like a cuddly panda, but working on a 2 or 3 record set with PB would probably make him nonstop cuddly

Fun fact about Buoys (the word): in UK, ireland and possibly NZ and Australia and other non-American English-speaking countries, Buoy is pronounced like "Boy" (more or less). But in North America it is pronounced "Boo-eee". Which makes me piss my pants with laughter every time! Originally Posted by: keepitcoming I wish Bernard would try to work with Panda.
That's not a bad shout actually. Originally Posted by: keepitcoming But no, he likes hot chip and others and brandon and a Brett somebody -- i cannot open Andy's post. it may be about jeremy brett, or brett of suede maybe .
I like Hot Chip too. I live very near to both Alexis and Joe from Hot Chip. I won't hear a bad word about them. Last time I saw Hot Chip live at Brixton Academy I relaised they have some of the most good natured fans you could ever meet. As for Brett, yes it is Brett from Suede. If you like Panda Bear than can we assume you like Animal Collective too? I saw them live at a festival a few years back. Quite good but better on record I think. Meriweather Post Pavilion is wonderful and it has a sort of magic -eye artwork thing going on too. Here's Panda and the other animals (love this):

Bro's is track 3 from person pitch, it is 12 1/2 minutes of bliss with two fabulous power surges, at 8 minute mark and again at 9:45, lyrics are a bit tricky to sing , but all in all the most amazing song i have ever heard. At my age i probably should be listening to moody blues , and I love the moodies, but panda is unbelieveable
Yes, thanks -Feels , MPP, and Strawberry are top AC releases ,it may be Noah's influences that are brightest and kindest. . And what about New Order . They must release a sonic spectacular ,i know they can create some more songs to bring us to the highest happiness again |

I should mention that panda takes some listens ,as it is alien to me. Even with the memories of sounds of Can,Magma,Gong, Soft Machine, King Crimson, This Heat, Faust, Popol Vuh ,Amon Duul 2, Beaver and Krause, Third Ear Band, Mandrake Memorial, Lothar and the Hand People , and the Residents( i think he Noah samples from their song "Walter Wesringhouse".), Panda is not easy at first . Grim Reaper and Buoys, and the 3 eps Crosswords,Mr Noah ,and Homies have charms . Oh and for a nice fast and furious song, try "Yin Yang and the Flower Pot Men "by Love and Rockets from Express |

I apologize for being meanspirited about Hot Chip, Brandon ,and Brett ,and Bernard .I actually made a Tool and Grohl loving girlfriend , , like very much "When I Met You" , I didn't know what love was , ......
