This is great news! Thanks for the heads up.

Maybe it will be released on the (hopefully still in the pipeline) album boxsets.

The news about an upcoming New Order documentary are not news really... First time I read something about this was in 2013 HERE.

"Culture Now: Arthur Baker in Conversation with Gregor Muir

(...) He [Arthur Baker] now co-owns fashion label Felder Felder and is currently producing three music documentaries - Finding The Funk with director Nelson George for VH1, Planet Rock & Other Tales Of The 808, and a New Order documentary directed by Don Letts (...)"

Wasn’t there some guy in here a year or two back asking fans for stories, info that would be of great help to a New Order doc he was planning?

Don Letts is involved in making a New Order doc? Nice guy and I sometimes catch his radio show on 6 music and liked a lot of Big Audio Dynamite stuff back in the day but never had him down as much of a New Order fan .TBH I don’t know what new angle can be found in another NO doc.

I doubt there’s anything particularly new to say about the band, but I would be happy for a ‘feature-length’ up to do date documentary.
Especially if it’s well done and ‘definitive’.

As Michael has pointed out before, NewOrderStory is a bit pretentious and superficial.
I know that the subject material perhaps doesn’t suit the style as much, but something like Grant Gee’s JD documentary would be great.

If it is Don Letts behind it, I’d be very happy. He is intelligent, has been ‘on the scene’ since the start and is, above all, a good film-maker. He also comes across as a really nice guy and always has interesting things to say.

Whether it’s him behind it or not, I’m pretty pleased that something is being made.

As I said in t'other thread, I'd love a definitive doc like the Pistols Filth And Fury, but I doubt this will be it.

Quite honestly I'd prefer a NOStory 2, not in the sense of something as unwatchable, but a review of the post 93 period. The JD to NO to London years have been done to death and everyone knows them inside out - I'd be more interested in what was happening afterwards.

Yeah. Looks a nice box set (and I’m quite tempted by it myself).
However, I’m still hoping for ‘LP’ box sets rather than a single ‘career’ box set, like this one.

To be fair, that PiL one is just like a (much) improved version of ‘Retro’, being a set that covers the band’s whole career, with some nice DVD and unreleased material added, but with a lot of stuff inevitably being left out.

I guess it ‘enhances’ the 2 LP boxsets they released a year or so ago but, if I was buying all these PiL releases, I think I’d have rather they’d carried on releasing super-deluxe editions of their LPs and slung the rare / DVD stuff from the above set onto these.

I’m pretty sure that Hooky has mentioned that NO’s releases will be ‘LP’ sets, in the mould of the Led Zeppelin one he received as a present

If they ever get released, that is... 😞

... i would consider getting that boxset, just for the 1988-89 concert stuff alone. was a big fan of the McGeoch era of PiL.
