Hi. Just wondered if anyone saved the webpage contents anywhere or know of a location where I could find archives of this material.

I'm not after the mp3s themselves; I just want to read the comments made by AnalogLoyalist / 50poundnote as to how they compiled / restored the various tracks. I'm after both the New Order and Joy Division pages.

I've tried to search Wayback Machine and other websites, but have mainly struck out (have been able to retrieve some pages but not all).

Any help greatly received.

50 Pound Note here.

Just for clarity's sake, the New Order tracks were done by Bruce Bartlett, and the Joy Division tracks were done by Mr. Analog Loyalist. :)

A few people have told me they archived the entries. I'll ask for them.

Thanks for this and the clarification.

Thank you also for your contributions to this excellent project. I really loved all the notes and geeky details about the selection of tracks and restoration, along with the presentation and artwork. A sterling job by everyone involved.

I think I've got them all squirrelled away. Let me check

Here's a 19M ZIP of saved pages, but I don't know if it's comprehensive or not

Great job - thank you!

At a glance, that appears to be everything (including comments!) except for the introduction entry, Ceremony, the Haceinda Christmas flexi, and the Record Store Day reissue of Ceremony.

I'll see if I can get those elsewhere.

Brilliant!

Many thanks Jonathan, and also to you, Mr £50poundnote, for the offer of checking for the missing pages.

Actually, whilst I think about it, there was some talk back in the day of the restorers providing a 'companion' disc to the NO set, which would include tracks from the period, not covered by the individual discs.
Obviously, that idea got understandably nixed when the downloads were taken down.
I just wondered if anyone had knowledge as to what tracks were going to be on this disc. I'd be quite interested to know; mainly out of interest, but I also might try and compile the material for myself using copies of the stuff I have.

Yep, I have detailed notes, as well as the tracklist (and a playlist on my computer). Will provide once I get home.

We made a conscious group decision to take them down...sort of a "limited time only - act while you still can" thing. We had silent consent from the band's management, which is why Warners never asked us to pull the plug.

I still wanted to do the Factory Irregulars comp (Additional Listening 1980-1991), and we discussed doing Recycle II covering the London Records era, but with the surplus of dated, generally crappy remixes, and only 2-3 proper B-sides during that era, we couldn't get any momentum going because no one was enthusiastic about sifting through all the crap to create a definitive, curated version of each single.

That would be excellent. I'd really appreciate that. Will be great to read the notes.

I can't say I blame you all for losing the enthusiasm for the London material. There's a definite distinction between the Factory & London era in terms of quality releases. If I was a restorer, I certainly wouldn't relish having to sit through all six or so of the Sly & Robbie remixes of RIAD for a start. Also, I guess it would be difficult to think of polite things things to say about certain remixes in your detailed notes.
It's a shame really; there's plenty of great New Order stuff from the 90s and 00s, but it was just hidden beneath the tsunami of (mostly) terrible remixes.

Still, it would have been great to have had the project expanded. Especially, The Factory Irregulars compilation which, I would imagine, had some nice hidden gems from the era included (I'm guessing things like Video 5-8-6 and the Salvation tracks).

However, I'm just very grateful for the effort that was put into the project. I must have listened to this stuff hundreds of times since it was made available.

By "detailed notes" I don't mean like blog entires. Just cataloging, what to include etc. Not really of any interest.

We were going to approach the '90s as an exercise in listening, instead of being completists. Each single would be limited to no more than 6 tracks (a standard 12" vinyl single) - so right off the bat, dubs and instrumentals get tossed. All those Sly & Robbie mixes are redundant, so only one would have been included.

Ruined In A Day would look like this:

1. Ruined In A Day (Radio Edit)
2. Vicious Circle (Mike Haas Mix)
3. Ruined In A Day (The Ambient Mix)
4. Ruined In A Day (Reunited In A Day Remix)
5. Vicious Circle (New Order Mix)
6. Ruined In A Day (12 Inch Bogle Mix)

Recycle II:
1. Confusion '90
2. Regret
3. Ruined In A Day
4. World (Price Of Love)
5. Spooky
6. True Faith '94
7. 1963
8. Blue Monday '95
9. (The Rest Of) EP (remixes left off The Rest Of, or only appearing on the vinyl)
10. True Faith '01
11. Crystal
12. 60 Miles An Hour
13. Someone Like You
14. Here To Stay
15. Confusion '02
16. Krafty
17. Jetstream
18. Waiting For The Sirens' Call
19. Guilt Is A Useless Emotion
20. Turn (includes all the new remixes from the 12x12 singles campaign)

1/4 of those are reissues of previous singles, 2 are promo-only, 2 were issued by Arthur Baker and not New Order, 1 is completely made up, and 1 never existed. Just looking at it, I think "yeeeesh." I only like 6 of those songs, anyway.

Factory Irregulars: New Order 1980-1990 Additional Listening

1. Dreams Never End (Demo - Mix 2, guitars up) - Western Works Demos
2. Homage (Demo) - Western Works Demos
3. Ceremony (Demo) - Western Works Demos
4. Truth (Demo) - Western Works Demos
5. Are You Ready Are You Ready Are You Ready For This? (Demo) - Western Works Demos
6. Haystack by Kevin Hewick - From Brussels With Love compilation
7. Truth - Peel Session '81
8. Senses - Peel Session '81
9. ICB - Peel Session '81
10. Dreams Never End - Peel Session '81
11. Turn The Heater On - Peel Session '82
12. We All Stand - Peel Session '82
13. Too Late - Peel Session '82
14. 586 - Peel Session '82
15. Video 586
16. Rocking Carol - Hacienda Christmas flexi
17. Ode To Joy - Hacienda Christmas flexi
18. Blue Monday (with complete intro, unlike the 12" single)
19. Let's Go (Original vocal, demo 1985)
20. Elegia (Full Version)
21. The Perfect Kiss (Live take recorded at video shoot)
22. Sunrise (Instrumental Rough Mix) - Discreet Campaigns comp
23. Theme by Be Music - Crépuscule Collection - The Quick Neat Job
24. Temptation (Edit of '82 version) - Something Wild soundtrack
25. Shellshock (Full, original version) - Pretty In Pink soundtrack
26. Confusion (1987 Version) - Substance
27. Salvation Theme - Salvation soundtrack
28. Touched By The Hand Of God (Original) - Salvation soundtrack
29. Let's Go - Salvation soundtrack
30. Sputnik - Salvation soundtrack
31. Skullcrusher - Salvation soundtrack
32. Touched By The Hand Of God (Remix Version) - Salvation soundtrack Japan issue
33. Bizarre Love Triangle (Stephen Hague Mix) - Married To The Mob soundtrack
34. The Happy One (Live on The Other Side Of Midnight) - performed by Peter Hook
35. Sister Ray (Live in Sau Paulo, Brazil 1988) - Like A Girl, I Want You To Keep Coming compilation
36. Your Silent Face (Live at Irvine Meadows 1989) - Of Factory New York compilation
37. The Happy One (Reconstruction) - Substance video/Palatine Lane French promo CD
38. Confusion (Dimitri DMC Remix) - Volume One compilation

Running time: 3 hours, 30 minutes.

Many thanks for this.

I totally agree that, if the London years had been done, each release should’ve been limited to a few tracks only.
Although the completist in me always wants to see comprehensive sets, it probably wouldn’t be sensible to include remixes that are practically the same as others already included.

The Factory Irregulars companion looks great. Nice to finally see what would’ve been included.
I have all of these tracks but, man, it would’ve been so nice to have had restored versions of these, especially the original vocal demo of Let’s Go and the Instrumental Rough Mix of Sunrise. My copies are really rather murky. It would’ve be great to hear what could’ve been done to these to improve the sound, particularly Let’s Go.

Here’s hoping these one day get an official release.

It's easy enough to get together most of the tracks i've listed, besides some promos.

I have actually compiled all the tracks and still have some artwork to do.

It is ongoing, as there are still mixes being released even now.

and yet, many people from this forum wanted the listings,
commented on it, and still keep updating it years later.

there's people still interested in new order, unlike fans
that just comment about them.

What's the difference between Blue Monday and Blue Monday 88? 5 years.
Trainspotter territory but when I made my compilation of every track, I'd only include mixes if they had (a) the full vocal (Fuck you, Liarcock) and (b) totally different music (who needs World 7" AND radio edit AND vid version? Well maybe somebody does. But let's not think abot them). Hence, if I recall correctly, Repubelick ran:
REGRET 7", Fire Island
RIAD LP, K-Klass, Ambient, Dance Anal Groove
Vicious Menstrual Cycle NO Mix
WORLD Perfecto, Brothers, K-Klass
SPOOKY Stadium, Fluke Minimix, Out Of Order
Ev Ev live off NOStory
2nd side straight off the LP...
When all those 94 - 95 rip-offs appeared, the only ones I considered worth inserting were:
TF Perfecto
1963 Arthur Baker, Joe T Vanelli
BM Andrea.
Um - that's it.
As you can see, I didn't include things like Temptation C J Bollock (NOTHING to do with New Order) or Age of Consent Howie B (just stripped down the original). I liked BM Hardfloor but again, it was too derivative of the original.
My infatuation wore off after that. I'm not sure what I'd've made of those endless Crystal mixes...
Well, a chap needs a pastime. Some people bonk chickens.
