Good spot. It's by a band I saw at The Garage, Highbury (London) circa 2008/2009. I bought their Get Color album and loved the single Die Slow. Then I kinda forgot about them...

Full track (been up for a while):

Film's out in a couple of weeks. Looks like a female John Wick. I enjoyed John Wick in a trashy action thriller kinda way.

New American show Salvation about an asteroid crashing into earth, has the main character wearing a JD unknown Pleasures shirt.

Netflicks 13 reason why show has love will tear us apart, a cover of Atmosphere and a poster of unknown pleasures, all on different episodes.

(Leave it to JD to be the front runners for all things suicide)

Thom Yorke of Radiohead, interviewed on BBC 6Music a few weeks back, said how he went to see New Order at Oxford Apollo in 1986.He had seen Siouxie And The Banshees at the same venue the week before and Siouxie was incredible and knew how to put on a great show, then mentions how he "went back the next week to see New Order and they slagged everyone off and then stormed off. That was how not to do it" Laugh That gig is quite infamous as i recall.

Correction time. Just as season two has been announced, I've finally got round to actually watching season one. It was a bit spookier than ET! Why were there massive flakes of dandruff floating in the "upside down"?
I now realise that quite a lot of the music in that DJ Yoda mix is "inspired by" the show rather than in it. The second version of Elegia isn't on the Stranger Things soundtrack. It seems to be something that DJ Yoda found on youtube. Perhaps its old school 1980's video game vibe appealed. Anyway here it is. Seems to be by a guy who does a lot of "chip tunes" on youtube (converted by Sir Bukkake!).

Not sure what the best thread is for this...

I remember seeing Hooky doing one of his Joy Division sets. In the encore he launched into Ceremony. A lot of the 50 (and 60?) -somethings who had been singing along just went completely blank. He did a song released by New Order?! For shame!

that's how i feel when new order do joy division to be honest

completely brings me down....and a lot of others if you ask me as it generally goes extremely flat when they do a jd encore

at jodrell bank i was stood right over near the bars as i wanted to see the projections...the audience was streaming out during the jd encore

That was too subtle. I missed it the first 37 times.

Ok, I'm cheating, this isn't new order spotting at all. But considering Stranger Things was discussed in this thread before....

...it sorta made sense to give it another mention here: An Honest Trailer for season 1.
I haven't seen season 2 but this doesn't show anything from season 2 anyway, although there are a couple of sly references to it.
There's loads more of these Honest Trailers (mostly of films) in case anyone here is unfamiliar with the Youtube series.

I've checked the track listing for season two and there's no NO this time around. But there is uh, Bon Jovi, Ted Nugent and Metallica. And some more Clash, along with Devo, the Police, Tangerine Dream, Pat Benatar and Psychedelic Furs. So not all bad. DJ Yoda says he isn't insprired to do a mixtape this time though.

And speaking of 80's set tv & films, I finally got around to watching Atomic Blonde recently (illegally on the internet).

I didn't realise the whole film was set in Berlin in 1989, just before the fall of the Berlin Wall. NO's Blue Monday is indeed in there along with the cover version, but alas it's the '88 version, perhaps to tie it in with 1989 a little better. Loads of other 80's tunes in there too. Some of which I haven't listened to for ages from the likes of: Echo & The Bunnymen, the Cure, A Flock of Seagulls, Ministry, Siouxsie & The Banshees (Cities in Dust is such a good tune!), Eurythmics, Falco, Bowie, and Re-Flex's The Poitics Of Dancing which I don't think I've heard since about 1987.

And that's enough 80's for now.

The only decent 'alternative' music in series 2 of Stranger Things, IMHO, was 'Whip It' by Devo and 'Back To Nature' by Fad Gadget (wow - who would've expected that on a mainstream American TV series - a very nice surprise! RIP Frank Tovey). Most of the other proper songs used were a trifle too 'rock' for my tastes. Although I have a bit of a thing about Benatar's 'Love Is A Battlefield' (sshhh - don't tell the cool kids!).

The second series is still wonderful. Especially if you were a teenage boy in '84-85. Which I was.

To bring this back around, just seen a trailer on E4 for the latest Terminator movie. Blue Monday was used to accompany it (proper version, not a cover this time).
