To be honest with you, I think this thread is incorrectly titled. It would be more accurate to call it: "Reproductions of NO songs in Fruity Loops that try to sound as similar to the original as possible". But that doesn't necessarily constitute a good cover version. I would suggest that most of these are only of interest to fellow amateur 'producers'; not so much to others. Call me biased but I would also suggest that the only good cover version on this thread is the one I posted on page 1 - The Afgan Whigs cover of Regret. And it's good precisely because it doesn't just try to ape the original. (EDIT: actually the State Shirt and Radiohead covers are decent too) Del Boy's vid above may be a little rough around the edges but it does at least have a sense of fun & originality about it, unlike most of these FL covers. Time to rename the thread perhaps? (Maybe even split the thread up: Non FL covers in a proper cover versions thread, all the FL recreations in one place that most of us can ignore.) A good cover version isn't meant to sound like a cheap software facsimile of the original; it's meant to bring something new to the party. It's not Del Boy who doesn't understand what a good cover version is, it's you!
If you honestly think that Radiohead don't do a better cover version than some bedroom producer using FL, then you really are getting the difference between a software facsimile and a proper cover version mixed up.

Alongside the strings, the piano does it for me. Here's a Ceremony not long uploaded. Quite majestic really - reminds me of 80's/90's US TV theme tunes in a way - Hill Street Blues anyone?! Relates to a thread I raised re MIF set list. If they did the likes of Ceremony on piano/synths that that would be reworking worthy of the description! Enjoy... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLURj8tRpvg

Now here's something: 1963 - enjoy, love the dude on the right. Not quite the same as the version for MIF coming up (just guessing/hoping): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qN3YbUk9BMU

Since nobody mentioned them - Chemical Brothers do a nice temptation cover / sample / intro to star guitar. I like it a lot. https://youtu.be/_QrUFXrOv0ILots of vids on youtube from live bros shows where they incorporate more or less of the song.

Ah yes, I mentioned this on a different thread a looong time ago. You can buy that Brixton live version on The American EP they released back in 2002. Here's a Japanese version that appeared as a bonus on the Chem's '93-'03 DVD:
It was as recently as 2016 when they started incorporating some of Bernards vocals too - and running them through a vocoder, which is a bit too cheesy for me. Like THIS & THIS . I have to say that even if you think this is too much, it's worth catching the Chems live at least once in your life. They put on a great audio-visual spectacular. It's like doing drugs without the drugs!

Wait a minute, why didn't they trawl through YouTube for a Fruity Loops recreation? Perhaps they wanted to hear an original sounding cover version (?). Send them yours!
