So I've finally decided to bite the bullet and go and see Peter & The Light in Brighton in March - anyone else going to that, or any of the other UK shows they're playing in March?
It's both Substance albums they're playing, so I'm guessing there won't be time for any support bands, but is Peter likely to be DJing before the show starts, or will it just be either a tour DJ or the venues own DJ playing a few records and then the show begins?

I didn't go to his Substance gig in London last year (as it clashed with Fat White Family at Brixton Academy) but have seen all his other "NO" gigs . I seem to remember the current version of Section 25 supported him at Islington Academy for his JD "Closer" gig, but I don't recall any support for the NO ones. In fact he supports himself with a short JD set, but he won't do that for Substance (cos he'll be doing JD anyway, obvs) He starts early, be warned! And starts with NO not JD. The DJ "support" that I recall from the past is just anynomous DJ-ing (compilation CD probably) - similar kinda tunes you get waiting for NO to come on: Kraftwerk, Devo, whatever... ps: If his facebook or twitter doesn't tell you what time he's starting in the days prior to the gig, tweet him and ask. As long as he knows you're spending money on him, he will acknowledge you! Otherwise he probably won't. I'm not kidding. (Test my theory further, take a pic on the night and tweet it afterwards, tagging him in - he'll acknowledge)

I'll be in Liverpool... If they do the same thing they did in Dallas last year, no DJing...just the band tearing through around three hours of tunes... I felt like I had been battered the next day....

I rather enjoyed the show in Brighton on Tuesday night (apart from the venue being in the arse end of nowhere), I thought it was miles better than the last time I saw Peter play live (Freebass at the 100 Club a few years back)
I thought the Joy Division songs worked better than the New Order ones, maybe partly because I'm so used to hearing Bernard singing the N.O. songs, but also because I think hearing New Order playing Joy Division songs since Peter left, apart from Atmosphere I tend to think they all seem a bit half-arsed, as if they're only playing them to flog a few JD t-shirts on the merch stall.
Not sure I'd be excited enough to go to the Paris or Amsterdam shows later this year, but I'd be interested in seeing them play a London show in the future (maybe something like Technique rather than Substance?)

Show at the Roundhouse on 18th December has been announced, tickets on sale on Friday, performing Unknown Pleasures & Closer, with an opening set of New Order material as well. It's a long way off, but I'm tempted to go, only thing putting me off is that its on a Monday night. Edited by user 20 March 2017 03:50:24(UTC)

Jeez, Hooky's people still haven't summoned the courage to tell him yet it's way past time he wrote a new song? Hooky hasn't been sectioned yet?
