Based on sales alone, Music Complete comes in at No. 22 with 12,200 in first-week sales. So not as good as Republic (No. 11, 1993), but better than most NO albums in the U.S.

However, the OFFICIAL Billboard 200 album chart (which includes streaming), ranks the album at No. 34, with only 373,500 track streams for the week.

I know the charts don't mean much, but I'd kinda hoped for a higher placement. I think this album is going to have mileage, though. It's gotten some of the best reviews of their career, and word of mouth has been very positive.

Thanks. I'd be curious if anyone has heard anything from the new album on the radio in the US. My local stations (Boston) play new order pretty regularly, but nothing new, not even a mention of new stuff. I can see this album having legs though. They would help their cause if they pushed Superheated as a radio single here.

A local radio station (KRML in nearby Carmel, California) plays Restless.

More promotion in the US would surely help.

Here in NYC, the only place I have seen Music Complete posters up is on ONE block in the LES.

It's shame because NO has a huge fan base in NYC (their gigs here always sell out).

But the music climate in the US is pretty much focused on playing mainstream major label pop dogshit. All of the major radio stations are owned by two companies (iHeartRadio and Clear Channel) and they have a fixed playlist based on payola from the major labels. That's why you hear Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift and Nikci Minaj 10000 times a day everywhere you go.

There are of course still excellent indie or public radio stations, such as KCRW in LA and WMFU in New York that play eclectic stuff.

Restless has been played on WXPN in Philadelphia in light rotation. Agreed with Zachary as to the total streams. I would have thought it would be more than that but iTunes in the US really gave it short shrift. I don't recall seeing on the main page on the release date. Probably would have helped. Here's hoping with all the new shows and episodes airing something finds its way onto a show (Academic, Plastic would be great and could work well.) All US shows do a good job bigging up the tracks they use now and that helps drive a few ears. I think the album can have legs if they press the right buttons with singles -- Tutti and Academic make the most sense in US, but then again, I thought Turn should have been the lead single in the US last album.....what do I know....

I'm a bit disappointed that Australia's popular radio station Triple-J didnt put any Music Complete tracks on rotation in last few weeks Confused ..even though this station frequently plays JD's LWTUA and some New Order's classics like BM or BLT.

They did play Restless a few months back but for only a week or so.....but all these few weeks, totally no mentioning of Music Complete Frown ...but I guess this radio station tend to aim their playlist towards the age group up to 35. Even The Foo Fighters recent album didnt get any airing eventhough this station plays lotsa Nirvana stuff.
what a tutti frutti world of colours!!!
