It is possible in 2008-2009 Bernard and Steve felt NO couldn't continue. But then, eventually, they changed their mind.

Fact is, Hooky quit the band, and it's sad that he cannot see why other folks from the New Order and Factory camp don't wanna work with him.

It must be hard for him to see the new album getting so many rave reviews.

He's super sad. He invented a way of playing the bass but if you really go back through New Order's history it's pretty clear he's a one trick pony and entirely dependent on Bernard in the songwriting department. I mean, go compare Revenge vs. Electronic if you really need any other proof.

I know some people who have had direct interactions with these people and the truth is this: Bernard is a gifted genius but an asshole, and Hooky is more of a decent bloke but now a completely scorned lover. Music Complete is obviously an attempt from Bernard to make it abundantly clear that the gift of New Order is not Hooky given that it's the best release they've put out in ages. You could argue that this is petty or superficial or whatever but Bernard and the rest of New Order are smart enough to take the high road and just let the results do the talking - Hook clearly isn't.

If Hook wants to make a true statement about his legacy he would go do the same and create some great music. But he can't so he's lashing out in the only way he can.

Not reading it. Not interested in anything he says, as he's said far too much over the last 10 years.

yesca nails many aspects of it in the excellent post above.

Hey you can believe me if you want to or not. I don't really care. I'm just stating my POV on this. Can you really point to any other musician who spends so much energy on acting like a junior high lover? It's really embarrassing.

Interesting that Mojo declined to publish the letter.

He's undoubtedly telling the truth to a certain degree (certainly in terms about Bad Lieutenant), but then he's sprouted so much shite over the past decade it's quite hard to figure out what's what (I seem to recall him saying in 2007 'I've got a third of the name...I'm open to negotiations', but then contradicting himself in 2011/2012 by saying he only has 20%).

This supposed legal action will be interesting. If we take the recent example of Queensryche, where singer Geoff Tate was sacked and quickly put out an album under the name Queensryche, we can see that the band won the rights to the name and left Tate a laughing stock.

http://www.billboard.com/articl...ttlement-geoff-tate-name

This, coupled with the Roger Waters/Pink Floyd lawsuit, doesn't bode well for Hooky.

My own personal theory is that when he cleaned his act up regards booze, he gained clarity but blamed all the wrong people for all the wrong reasons for his past problems. All this could have been avoided if he'd just stayed on the piss!

Peter sounds great with the light , I hope to see them and hope for more new songs from his team. He did so well with revenge and Monaco , while Bernard and Johnny Marrs worked equally well with electronic. As a comparison to his peers - I listen to more revenge songs and Monaco songs than pulp, blur , oasis, Stone roses , cure , U2 combined, throw in roger waters post Floyd , too. poor Peter he hasn't got a yacht , lucky Bernard , he is such a wonderful

Hooky may have a point about Sumner concluding New Order was over without him in the band during Bad Lieutenant. This is what they decided with Joy Division, but of course, such different circumstances. From what I can tell Hook behaved incredibly badly by thinking he had the right to end New Order in an interview without even fûcking telling the band first. I don't blame 'The Others' for realising they hadn't split, but in fact Hooky had walked out on them - because that's what really happened. Since then I've read some terrible things, by Hook, particularly hateful towards Gillian. I can never see him ever being part of New Order again...

It must be strange now for Hooky doing all these New Order songs as the vocalist, essentially singing Sumner's lyrics and vocal melodies...

Had no idea that he had a beef with Gillian, as well. I can understand the envy he feels towards Barney given that he cannot hold a candle to him in creativity terms, but to be hateful towards Gillian - who I have always had respect and glowing admiration for - shows the depths of his bitterness.

I guess that he (assuming it is true) must consider Gillian to be someone who wasn't ever important to the band, perhaps just there because of Steve (and tolerated) as he himself blazed a trail with his iconic bass playing.

Him leaving at the same point as Gillian coming home - and New Order producing some of their best work in decades - is gonna hurt.

With no proof other than timing and obsessive reading, I suspect Hooky's vitriol at Gillian stems from the possibility the reason New Order can use the name now is there's a preponderance of the original members who wished to continue (Bernard, Steve, Gillian). Plus they didn't stop using New Order when she voluntarily left the band (for different reasons, obviously). Therefore he pins it on her that he can't stop them from being New Order.

The blokes a complete idiot.i have no respect for him at all anymore

And unfortunately I'm going to watch him tomorrow night in hull

I''ve always said I'd never bother with his shows but its pretty local and low life was when I got into the band

I bought the tickets back in March before all his latest outburst but I wish I hadn't now to be honest

If he starts slagging New order/music complete off I''ll leave and go on the piss

I have a feeling he will though with it being the night of the release

I'm not surprised that Mojo declined to publish the letter. Cheers to them for issuing a correction instead.
Furthermore, he quotes various interviews, but people change their minds at times.
He seems to want to try to stop them from using the name of New Order, and (as I recall from the Q magazine special), he also seems to believe that there is/was an agreement to 'split' if one member left.
Was that 'agreement' (if there ever was one) valid even after they became New Order?
Was it ever written down (in a contract or on paper, with member's signatures)?
His claims about the supposed agreement would make sense if it was stipulated in their contract, or if they made a written agreement.
But is 'We made an agreement (but we didn't bother writing it down)' valid in court?
All of these personal attacks in his blog are sad and pathetic to read. If there is a legal problem; let the court sort it out. No need to slag off people in the press.
Hooky may be a decent bassist, but he's merely a tribute act to his former bands if he continues to tour past albums and not write anything new, although he may need a decent songwriter (on par with Bernard or even David Potts) to accomplish that.

"I can confirm that further legal action is underway in relation to the way in which the new band was licensed to use the name. I can’t go into the details at this point but I hope to have more news on this in late November 2015".

Don't matter what Barney Steve and Gillian are called - they are NEW ORDER ... they could use 'NU ORDAH' lol or 'Better than a tribute band';

MUSIC COMPLETE best NEW ORDER album ever partially because Gillian is back, also love Tom's bass line on 'Nothing but a clown err fool '

Looking forward to the sell out tour.

What other band changes its name when someone leaves lol lol lo lol.

Long Live BARNEY STEVE AND GILLIAN

PS someone let me know when the Light have some new material HAHAHAHAHAHA
